I, the Unbroken One [ITFO2] [Chapter Two Released!] [November 21st, 2025]

The Marshall isn’t involved in the negotiations that made the deal, but they approved it at the time and said it was a good idea. And really it doesn’t matter whether they were or were not directly involved with it, the perception is that they were involved, and that’s all that matters

that really sucks for khorid bro cause usurper mc aint gonna give them up without a fight now that he upgraded from marshal to king

We don’t even know if you’re going to even get option to renege on the deal, so acting like it’s a done deal is really premature.

Just finished reading the demo and I am really glad that is here. The way it started was actually an eye opener that I didn’t expect we would read first.

Found an error:

Only Sobik and Belos died on my route no one else died from the family

Hate to break it to you, but if you’re actually going to fight to take it back, you’re going to lose. Assuming you do this after the Civil War, a bloody three-way civil war that’s going to leave, even in the best case scenario, things a tangled and chaotic mess, And then send your troops into a jungle where the fighting is nasty and brutal and wear your most experienced troops, the Rangers, are going to be fighting against you, you would be so, so screwed. This is a kingdom that was loyal to you because you single-handedly helped keep them from getting invaded and wiped out, and then, later on, helped to give them their independence. They love you because of that, not because they’re fanatics, and if you go against that, go back on your promises, try to re-conquer, that is not going to end well

we’ll have to see what author decides cause like what the guy up top said there might not even be an option to retract that deal

Yeah, just explaining that even if it does become a choice, it would be an absolutely terrible idea to pick it

anyone know how to reply to multiple ppl in a post ? itd probably be really useful to not post a bunch of replies one at a time

While composing your reply, you can highlight parts of people’s posts you want to reply to, by holding the left mouse button, and then select “Quote” from the menu which will pop up. Each of these quotes will be added to your post.

You can similarly edit your previous post and add quotes there, if the forum software starts yelling at you for making too many posts in a row or whatever.

A propos of nothing, found another small error.

	#You hit her.

		Behind the metal of her cage, it's difficult to get a hand in with any force. Your strike turns into more of a half-shove, forcing her to stumble away from the bars, nearly tripping over Vedran in the process.
//...
		"Sobik and Mira aren't here to hold me back," you growl. "Keep that in mind, sister. And Vedran--watch that tongue, or I'll take it from you."
//...
	#"Shut your goddamn mouth."
//...
		"Only ${his} illustrious majesty is allowed the luxury of feeling betrayed," interjects Vedran.

Vedran’s presence is hardcoded here, and he shows up in these options even if he’s supposed to be dead and Elya alone in prison.

Some inconsistencies when playing as the regent following Elya’s death:

Summary

Also on the regent route,

should we not get the opportunity to decide if we’re taking Vedran with us or not?

Because the mc hates it? For one. As for becoming adept at ruling, why would you accept a job if you know you’re always going to be shit at it? For my mc at least trying to be the best he can be is something that would come with any job. If he doesn’t want that he would just turn down the job, which is a more likely outcome than not if they were to offer him the crown of Krorid. My mc would only even consider accepting under a highly specific set of circumstances and conditions.

Hrrmmm…

Is nice.

Why not delegate?

Even if the MC was bad at ruling and could never become good at it, finding competent people seems easy enough.

Just make sure no one person accumulates too much power. Maybe rotate posts, have your officials compete with one another, do audits and many other things.

Its like having a car. You don’t need to be a car engineer to know that you need a mechanic when things break down.

And you use heuristics to determine the best mechanic like if they’re recommended by a lot by others and whether their shop is busy. And if you don’t trust a quote from one mechanic, you can ask around and compare quotes for the best price.

You’re being too hard on your MC :grin:

It’s really, really not it is in fact one of the hardest things in politics to find people who are both loyal and competent. All too often it is a tradeoff the highly competent tend to have their own agendas and the loyal ones tend to not have too much skill. The latter is why dictators and absolute monarchs often had such shit ministers in the first place as they tended to value loyalty over competence.

I mean I think the mc could learn they have had the start of royal education. It won’t go quickly or easily but, at least for mine, if he were to accept such an offer it means he’d have resolved himself to learning already no matter how hard or humiliating that is going to be.

In this case the nobility just tends to recommend whoever among them are the most powerful and/or influential/charismatic, a far less solid basis than even modern internet reviews would be also made harder by the fact that the mc knows nobody in the current Krorid nobility and cannot even read or write the language.

That’s why your MC should keep things balanced. Don’t choose only nobles, let commoners or clergy have a government post.

Besides, don’t nobles love to compete with each other. I think even for the Sun King Louis, there were nobles who competed on being able to hand the king his shirt in the morning.

So let them fight it out who gets to be the treasurer and if they’re incompetent, replace them. There are plenty of sycophants or ambitious nobles you can find in court.

Of course if you want to be a good king who cares about good policies then you might struggle balancing competence and loyalty.

When in doubt, always choose loyalty. How many want to die in a coup because of a competent but treacherous advisor. At least not me.
