Oh yeah it’s the one in which poor Elya gets traumatized after killing someone…
I think the time that I hit 7 for her by the end was when I got the Warrior Queen achievement, but I have been able to hit 6 if I don’t help her at the Baron’s and with negative points in envy pretty much the whole way through. It seems to indicate that I should be able to land at least at 5 by the end instead of being stuck at 4 from the Baron onward.
That’s because helping her with the baron loses a point but letting her handle it gives her one, and you’d be on five points at that point in the story so either you finish chapter 4 with four points or with six
And if you get the 3 Envy point and the WQ point, it gets her to the maximum possible strength of 8.
The ones at the march and for giving orders to troops? They trigger only if she has less than 4 strength. It is possible to keep her at 4 strength while assisting her with the Baron. 4 Strength is also when we see assertive changes in her dialogue and actions.
I get that, but there are leadership gains later in the game that don’t trigger if you help her at the Baron’s but do trigger if you don’t, and there doesn’t seem to be any narrative reason why that is. It seems more like a bug than narrative intent that Elya has arrested development after one early assist.
where / how do you get code snippets ;A;
damn. im trying to get my perfect playthrough again. I loved what i had, but i could screenshot things. Is there a way to view the save file i sent to CoG?
For a game hosted on COG’s site you can follow this guide: https://forum.choiceofgames.com/t/how-to-see-other-games-code-current-info-posted-in-op-and-post-146-on-6-18-19/1328
Note, you need to own the game in question (or you’ll only get access to the free demo part of the files).
If you have Steam version of the game, it’s a little different, but basically the whole game is compiled into a single file which you can load and view in a text editor.
I don’t know, but i think if you put the address of script file you want to see in the browser, the way the post describes, it should display it just like pc version of the web browser can…?
Awesome! I have the game on mobile, will that work? (testing things out now
Hi, I’m loving it so far but I found a slight bug in one section where my female Marshal was referred to with male pronouns. Just figured I’d report it, keep up the great work!
I have spent all day, trying to get a fucking total victory at chapter 5 with the traps front archers setup with a weapons Marshall, to see how many casualties could I get if I optimized, except, little problem, you need to deal -2 points of damage to both Rebel Center and Rebel Flanks to get total victory with the traps setups. For context, Atiming river massacre only needs -1.5 worth of damage in both, and so, to get that shit, I have to stack as many knights as possible (minus the ones I warned for vassal loyalty) and have them all dismount and so my routing is terrible and so I’ve went through all the pain to get less casualties than the almost fully defensive setup of keeping the rebels from crossing with walls!
That last one got 3500 casualties, its only 100 more, but it was the most defensive setup possible, and you can’t even send a cavalry charge to increase casualties. I got more casualties with a defensive setup that can’t send cavalry.
I’m gonna try to figure out the most damaging oblique setup now, see you in a while.
TLDR: If you’re a weapons Marshall, don’t do anything exclusive to a weapons Marshall. Don’t set up traps. Don’t do double formation fighting. Bacon please buff weapons.
Pretty sure weapon marshal gets enough advantages as it is. If they also get handed the ability to get total victory in tactical combat at every step, what’s the point of picking the other specialization when it’d only mean there’s some things you won’t be able to do, that the weapon marshal can…?
I’m, genuinely curious what advantages you’re considering to be worth so much, compared against a leadership Marshal? Because tactics is the undisputed best Marshal.
IIRC there are multiple instances in the game where weapon-oriented marshal gets automatic success and/or improved outcome in cases of personal combat, i.e. what they’re supposed to excel at, compared to the tactical marshal who lacks this edge. Plot-wise, the most notable would be the ability to drive Vedran to early suicide. How much that’s “worth” depends on how the player feels about that character and how much they enjoy being a combat prodigy.
Yeah you’re better at personal combat, but like, that genuinely only makes a small difference if you need to break the stalemate on the left flank of the cavalry during the final battle, and even then leadership is almost as good, with a lot more earlier advantages, like, almost everything Weapons martial can do is meaningless
Beating the guards with a dagger and noble clothes, either don’t put those clothes on or let them take you and shout the truth, it works either way.
Wait, using a Lance during Bellos’ Sally is genuinely a good thing that gets more rebels killed. But Leadership is better at this because they get both increased casualties and more heavy cavalry.
After that, it’s mostly all flavor text, training Elya, guarding the river, shooting at Rade, getting a crossbow from Krorid, and the real bonuses you don’t really want them.
You can get better traps, but as I proved before, not worth it.
You can attack Vedran and make him commit suicide and scar you, but come on, you could also just kill him yourself at Wrido if you hate him that much.
You can get Formation Fighting II, but, it was previously discovered they are inferior in both casualties dealt and casualties suffered to Formation Fighting I + Retinue I.
You can stay fighting for longer when your troops are routed, but that’s literally a bad ending.
If I forgot something that you think can make weapons Marshall look better, please tell me, I want to be wrong.
the book shan’t be updated; i must only seek to make the balance better in the second
His lordship has spoken hear hear!!!
Make Formation Fighting II + High Veteran Presence the most broken retinue of all in the sequel and maybe we forgive you. Maybe. Also does that mean chapter 5 will remain with its PLACEHOLDER when you send light cavalry without reinforcements? I mean, it’s kinda funny.
lol at this point, I think it will. It’s not even a laziness thing; I could fix that in a day. But I kind of see it as a time capsule now. I have a lot of strong attachment to ITFO, but I recognize that’s also very flawed. Smoothing away the flaws feels wrong to me. But I’ve always had an “IF as book” over “IF as video game” stance.
@maximo_caseres I made a guide for Oblique. It’s better for Tactics Marshals than the Archer Trap so it’s worth it. Only reason not to pick it as Tactics Marshal is if you want Warrior Queen.
Plus, you don’t have to sacrifice your horse in Chapter 9.
