Well, I’m glad to see that he never thinks of that due to how much of a fool he is lol
There’s something I’ve been wondering about
Is it better to have regimentation 1 and formation combat 1, regimentation 2 or formation combat 2? I’m not sure as to which options are the best.
Regimentation decreases your own casualties while formation increases enemy casualties, depends entirely on what you prefer. formation is probably better overall, but to maximize it’s effectiveness, you have to put your retinue into dangerous situations, like trying to break through the enemies center directly instead of spreading them out in chapter 9, for example.
Well I personally prefer to train both aspects because rpwise it is important for my retinue to know both indeed.
And btw, if I recruit veterans 3 times during the first recruitment part, can I get veteran presence bonus at the chaper 9 battle?
The veterans in the second recruitment (the ones that you find in Krorid that cost 3 points each, and get you the “High Veterans” perk for your retinue if you recruit 3 units of them) are unique: they are the (surviving) troops that the Marshal commanded during the Border War. They increase unit cohesion because they are experienced with having the Marshal as their CO, and therefore know that the Marshal knows what they are doing.
In the first recruitment (from Baron Ciril’s barony), the men-at-arms and veterans you can pick up are likely Border War veterans, but they aren’t the Marshal’s former troops either (well, some might be, but it’s not a critical mass of them like the Kroridian veterans).
Oh that explains, thx!
I’d say it’s generally better to specialize mainly in one or the other, it only applies to your retinue, a force you only use in specific circumstances, so, for example, you could give them regimentation, Spread them throughout your army, and use them to enforce your lines while you deliver massive damage via having tons of archers.
Most people (myself included) tend to see Regimentation 2 (+Veterans) as the superior option for the retinue.
Have you experimented with the Formation Combat I + Weapons retinue perks? Or with the communications perks?
Huh, that’s a shame. I wonder if it will get more use in ITUO.
@Sujan_Dhakal have you ever had success with the oblique (tactics) formation?
By success, I mean the total victory similar to that which the encirclement gets (before you choose for it to be ARM or not).
I’ve done formation/combat, it works really well, but it decimates your revenue, seeing that you have to have them pushing forward to get the best results. Communications, I’ve never found very useful
Like I’ve said before, rpwise, it’d be important for men to know how to properly fight in formation as well as basic regimentation.
I should try that, max vet recruitment as i can. Thanks.
Though i did reg 2 and wrecked all armies i came across. There thousands vs my hundreds of deaths.
Wanting to wait til save system is in to go again though.
As I said, Reg II + Veterans saves your army while really laying the hurt on Rade’s. Especially if you go Tactician Marshal.
@Bacondoneright if, assuming that you absolutely demolish The rebel forces in chapter 9 while taking minimal loyalist losses, is there a specific reason that Rade’s allies don’t just cut him down and throw themselves on the mercy of the Crown? I have a few assumptions, but this never gets brought up at all, so I’m curious.
Adding onto that, I’m wondering if we’ll get the opportunity to build up disloyalty and discomfort amongst his allies, to collapse his rebellion from within in the next game. Seems like a better long-term strategy than constantly battling it out for months or years, Especially if he drags foreigners into the mix
My theory is that by excluding Vedran, Sobik kind of created a legitimacy crisis all on his own. If he or Belos were ruler, I think this whole situation would be over.
I thought about that, but it still doesn’t quite make sense, by that point, your battle lost, your forces decimated, your leader heading back to his lands, your enemy barely scratched, it’s not about going to who’s next in the proper line of succession, it matters who the most powerful person is right now, and that would be the Marshall, you would think that at least one opportunistic Noble figures that if they kill rade and take his head to them, they can at least salvage something out of this
If Rade could have controlled his ambition a little better, being Vedran’s Tywin would have been a really good choice for him. Sobik gave him a glittering opportunity with that one and he was like lol no. And was so obvious about his intent that Vedran left
Vedran being in the line of succession like it normally should have been also wouldn’t have led to the death of the kingdom like he assumed. If there’s one thing we get to see him before he goes all Judas on us, he listens to people who he thinks are smarter and better than him, and during the burial of his brother, he flat out asked the Marshall what he should be doing now. Had he been king at that point, the Marshall would essentially still be running stuff like they do already, and half of the plot would disappear immediately
Rade wants to be the new royalty. The kids minus Marshall were nothing. Eliminate King, swarm and take Capitol quickly while Kings allies were in one place.
Strategic planning was sound, minus Marshall whom showed up alot sooner than he wanted. The Marshall was the only threat, the nobles didnt matter to him with his “assassin/lover” beside him. Yeah, i think they were very close myself.
Erase your enemy before they can reestablish is a tactic. If he cared about nobles and their risk to his power, he wouldnt done few things he did.
Idk but ending with full support will carry over and what it may imply into book 2.
I disagree. He would have massive legitimacy issues even if he’d succeeded. It’s hard to make such a brazen act of usurpation stick in such a way as to establish a stable dynasty that lasts more than a generation or two
If you receive ending one, the one where you lose the final battle and die playing rear guard, he has to fight a five-year Civil War even after taking the throne and then still dies afterwards anyway, he just does not have the legitimacy for it and there’s no way around that
