Yep. Can never go for the other backgrounds, both because I love learning but mostly because scholar mc gains Poldi as their big brother in all but name.

Even if my mc has mostly good and some lustful intentions towards Heka, the fact remains that my mc in his current life is not the scholar he once hoped to become, he’s still become a thief, a liar, even if his preferred lies are by omission and a potential killer. So a far cry from the sheltered world Heka grew up in.

Wharf rats. Less risky and I can’t say my mc is sad about killing Youri, freeing his slaves to use them as spies and absorbing half their guild either.

Once upon a time teacher and Poldi (though Poldi as the jerk big brother never said it to the mc out loud) seemed to believe the mc could go far in spite of their humble origins on their own merit and knowledge. The stark reality for my mc is that, do date, he has failed to live up to that. Which is why he feels he has disappointed teacher and Poldi and why the fake title he is now forced to use in his con has him feeling particularly uncomfortable.

Most paths in this game are rewarding in some way, which can make it difficult to choose. My mc still chooses Wharf Rats because at that point in his life he is stepping in for Amatus as the interim guild leader and going Wharf Rats allows him to kill two birds with one stone, find out what is up with the Rats’ weird behaviour and steal a noble signet ring. The other two paths are rewarding too, but Rats is the part that feels right to me for my mc and the state of mind he would be in at that time.

In one word, yes. I mean mc once used to be happily adopted before falling from grace themselves again and he’d be fully aware that he is going to do the same sort of thing to Heka too by wanting a relationship with the boy and therefore dragging him deeper and deeper into his own world, even if Heka’s circumstances are a bit less happy than his own used to be, they are still far better than the squalor, corruption, pretence and lies of his current life that he’d be dragging Heka into.

(every new update I love replaying every time for a refresher, and maybe trying different routes but I end up creating the same MC everytime lol)

I played the COG demo, and am here to help report that:

Okay, let’s try this again.

I think I identified what was causing the infinite loading glitch and altered the commands that caused it. I also fixed the indentation problem that the code just hates for some reason. ALSO, Aretas doesn’t turn into Nari now (hopefully) in that one scene.

The changes have been made on both itch and cogs, so please try once more and let me know how it’s looking.

Well, yes, that does play a not insignificant part in it. But as for the two noble ro’s specifically.

I mean the only two good and decent nobles my mc has ever met were teacher and Poldi. Merikh may look pretty but he is an unrepentant killer who is not above blackmailing the mc to get what he wants. Actually in a lot of ways Merikh reminds my mc of how far he, himself has fallen again in the life he leads now. Which is why my mc loves taking the offered opportunities to make Merikh squirm whenever they come along and as for Aretas, given how Amatus seems to heavily imply the complicity of the royal family in the disappearance and likely killing of his teacher and adoptive father and the disappearance of his big brother. My mc is not exactly brimming with warm and fuzzy feelings towards Aretas or Sarai or the royal family in general, in fact my mc outright lies when he says he’ll serve Aretas, and ventures near Aretas only because the scheme Merikh has blackmailed mc and the guild for requires it.

Also at least Merikh knows the truth that the mc is about the furthest thing there is from a proper noble but Aretas only knows the mc by their false title and that, at least to my mc, is no basis for any sort of genuine relationship, let alone a romance.

It is very unlikely with Merikh, since the guy did blackmail him. It is completely out of the question with Aretas, since my mc’s entire relationship with Aretas is based on a lie and a lie my mc feels particularly uncomfortable with to boot and on top of that it is also tempered by suspicion of the role likely played by the royal family in killing his father figure and the disappearance of his big brother.

In terms of how comfortable my mc is with the male ro’s, not ranking the female ones because my mc is gay:

1 Heka, very comfortable. Heka’s cute and fun and a bundle of joy.
2 Merikh, Merikh did blackmail him but he is at least pretty and fun to annoy.
3 Sutek, very uncomfortable, seeing as how the guy wants to kill and likely torture him and already hurt Amatus.
4 Aretas, The one out of the male ro’s my mc is least comfortable with since the whole relationship he has with the King is based on a lie of a false and stolen “noble” title and an assumed identity my mc dislikes at that. On top of that there is the suspicion he has towards the royal family regarding their possible involvement in the events that made him homeless for the second time, maybe even the first time too, but it is not like my mc particularly cares about that since he was too young to remember that.

Gem, my mc is terrified enough of the beasts as it is, so choosing the sleepy and relatively low energy one seemed like the safest bet.

In my play throughs she is never around to be found after so i suspect at the time she has been compromised by which ever noble she was working for.

@LeoneWrites finally got the chance to finish playing through the update some minor things needing fixed but nothing major encountered. Yet more then that so much going on its almost hard to say what has me most intrigued. Let alone most curious about on things even if i suspect i know where several threads are tied to now at this point.

Only getting the allies list no matter what. Can Aretas end up on the enemies list by the way?

A few problems, the one that stands out most is Bavana. If you go to Yoori for the house crest she’s in with the slaves. When you later follow Sutek to the cistern tunnels, she’s in prison with Tamu after having been snatched by Mara. And if you then go to the Dye Pavilion for a disguise, she’s there after having been freed from Yoori by you and the other Talons.
