That’s incorrect. All characters get their races and physical descriptions listed in their “target portfolios” on the game’s Stats page. There are also references to their appearances made throughout the story in the early chapters.
Also, probably worth to keep on mind that the cast in question is a group of raging assholes who make it their life mission to punch down and step on those who aren’t the wealthy 0.01% like themselves. How would being cast in those roles alleviate any of your complaints how the game paints the minorities unfavorably…?
There’s literally 2 white guys in the game cast. Out of 4 in total. Kind of makes it hard to make a very varied hair color spread with numbers this small. If they were given dark hair then wouldn’t you just complain instead, “why is every guy in the game dark haired”…?
Also, i feel like calling them “all chads” is a pretty big failure in reading the actual story, when one of those two guys is a pathetic pickup artist wannabe whose girlfriend dumped him for the black guy in the group, and he’s been hopelessly hung up on her ever since. Some “chad” indeed.
(the other also isn’t a “chad” but a psychopath people are afraid of. Not entirely the same thing, no matter what some chad-wannabes might think)
Do you mean during the homecoming? This can be a surprise if your MC isn’t part of the art club, but even without it the signs of Haley’s natures are there right from the start.
She is however a character who provides extra enjoyment if you play the game with the script open side by side. :v
Ahh, that. Yeah, that’s basically the game pulling the curtain from Haley. Well, one of the curtains, in any case.
Nah, after joining the art club I had the choice to head to the roof and found her smoking there, where she suddenly got super aggressive. I originally thought she may have only been involved in the incident because Isaac forced her to, but this has me wondering if she didn’t join in voluntarily.
Is this your first time at these forums or reading an IF, or something? There’s a rabid group of players who charge specifically at red flag ROs like they’re bulls. This is like catnip to them.
edit: wait, considering you aren’t even complaining about the game itself but the description of it in the OP. Eh, whatever. That’s not even judging the book by the cover, but by the back cover blurb.
Hi, minority here, on multiple levels. You have an understanding of racism and combatting it that is about the depth of a puddle. “Stereotypical” descriptions, behaviors and so forth existing in of itself is not the issue per se because these are a part of real people’s lived experiences too. The issue exists on the macro scale which cannot and should not be the responsibility of random individual authors to address by their lonesome overnight without stumble, but even if it were, you have to read the fucking game to know how it’s executed and whether they even actually are the stereotype or not let alone whether it’s “problematic” or whatever else you’d like to call it, which you did not.
Your earlier characterizations of how the ROs are talked about are off too, but I won’t even dive into that can of worms since that essentially boils down to opinion. Though I will give one easy example: the Asian boy was a nerd. He clearly is not anymore. In fact, he’s a popular influencer. Yet you fail to mention that. Weird.
Probably because you as you said don’t care. Because you’re just here to shit stir. And by the way, sweepingly calling “western people” racist is a prejudice, genius. Criticize the descriptions all you want, but you’re being both dramatic and rude and you know it. Shelve the culture war nonsense attitude.
I don’t want to start a argument with you but I just have to say if you don’t care that much why even write these responses. You could have just write the original one and be done with. You’re not even talking about the story or anything just the character’s appearances. Either way this was all for not and I hope you have a great day and just find other story’s that you like.
I protected my boy Sucof’s honor thats it. This is a re-edit of my previous remarks. I still believe in my previous statements but I should not have stick my name in the mud for any counters. Oh-dear any readers who read this please look at me as a sacrifice as not to fall for rage bait. My deepest apologies to everyone.
Which was your favorite date? Mine was Hailey (Perfect choice by far, hands down), then Angela (Her Dad was AWESOME!), and Cicily Knight (interesting to see her crack and tell her secrets). Organized from best to least
OK, I played the demo. Of course with just one play sure there is a million things I haven’t seen, but it’s good. Intriguing, with a lot of branches, and fun.
I tried to be a dark and uncompassionate character. Well, that’s what I initially tried, at least. The truth is, even if it’s clear that the big majority of the group are a bunch of assholes, there are glimpses of their weaknesses that make me think at least a good part of them are really some miserable kids pretending to be more than they really are. The revenge starts and my character can’t help but feel bad about it. And I really love that you can have those kind of doubts, the same way Dantés becomes more doubtful and guilt ridden as his revenge goes on in The Count of Monte Cristo.
I really like the way this is going. Keep up the good work!

It’s the beginning of the year, so I’m trying to lie low for now (present for Isaac and haunting of Dylan and Olivia aside), even be helpful to the baseball team and the Roosters (though my real talent is finance). Angela is still adorable, as was the homecoming date with her, now that I actually used the time to talk to her and build her confidence instead of stopping Isaac’s ‘prank’. And it seems Edmond actually cares about her (at least cares enough not to use romance to manipulate her, even though he’s maybe kinda sorta catching feelings).
