Why? Half of it is probably vendor junk.

@SheaMcD What do we need an excuse for? Excuses are for squares.

It’s only vendor junk if an adventurer picks it up. Guen, however, is in a position to be a quest giver. All that garbage on Hrothulf’s body can be named and given out as quest rewards to helpful do-gooders.

I want everything so I can have it as war trophies!

Ah, of course. But who would the adventurers be? Lancelot? The Knights of the Round Table? Random townspeople?

Adventurers are actually pretty hard to find because they need just the right combination of greed, sociopathy, and helpfulness to be effective.

If you’re not totally against it, post the newest version PLEASE.

See, now I’m tempted to vote against it, just to spite the people begging and whining for it

Okay, the overwhelming consensus seems to be that I should upload the Guen Book I patch. I want to work on it some more, but I’ll plan on making it public in the near future (by the end of December, if not before). Looking forward to hearing what people think of the clarified Ace!Guen options.

@Bryce_Kaldwin Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll think about it, and how/whether it could fit with the rest of the story.

I know you do. It’s in my notes: “NJG wants all the stuff.” I just have to think about what the consequences for such ruthlessness/greed might be. :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay, just don’t expect much
It’s seriously just a few more tiny dialogue options and a lot of potential bugs due to changed variable names and such.

@Fallaner You’re more than welcome to read my code, though I should warn you that it might be the worst example of how to use ChoiceScript! I’ve gotten better at it since I first started, but I still break most of CoG’s suggestions for writing a good game. Anyway, good luck with your finals! I hope you get to enjoy some time off afterward!

@Cecilia_Rosewood Thanks! :slight_smile:

If this were SWTOR, Hrothulf’s stuff would definitely have a grey box around it at the moment, unless I think of something interesting to do with it later. Which I will try to do. (I’ve already had some suggestions.)

And this is my favorite suggestion so far.

@OtherGrimm Too late! You already cast your vote! :stuck_out_tongue:

YES!

Erm, Her Majesty Lady “Ruthless, Ambitious” Guenevere should have an extensive war trophy collection, to remind her enemies of what happens to those who try to eliminate her.

So far, she has Hrothulf’s crest and an assassin knife.

If we take the dagger from Hrothulf’s corpse can we use it against his wife, Cornelia when we finally face her? If not can it be used against anyone else? What about a secret purpose?

Just something that came to mind recently, based on my reading about various historical societies women committing adultery with other women was less frowned upon that committing it with another man. I mean the reasoning is fairly obvious, two women can’t produce bastard children, which ancient societies got really mad about.

So much question was, does a similar attitude exist in Guen’s world? If her affair with Morgana becomes public, will people react differently compared to an affair with Lancelot? I mean, Arthur’s confusion about Guen’s sexuality seems to imply such an attitude (although that could just be Arthur being Arthur) .

P.S - If this question has been asked before, I apologise, I was just disinclined to go trekking through 5k+ of comments to find the answer.

It has been brought up before, actually, and the answer is yes, they will act differently, for the exact reason you mentioned.

Ah, my bad. Thanks for answering anyway.

Indeed. I just want to prevent any sense of inventory-building. Opening that door will result in the game definitely never being finished.

Yeah, something like that
I just have to figure out how to do it in a way that doesn’t seem too artificial. Guen won’t know when she’s about to face Cornelia, so has she just been carrying the dagger around with her all the time for eight years? What about the other trophies?

@silent15 If you look at the bottom of the stats screen, there’s a button that says “notes on the game world.” Under that is a button that says “marriage, sexuality, and children.” That should answer your question – though, as @OtherGrimm says, the simple answer is “yes.”

Fun fact of the day: I got exempted from one of my finals! My Biology final, specifically. Yaaaaaaaaay! I am still going to end up stressing out because of math and english though

In more relevant details: Maybe she carries the dagger around all the time because it simply makes sense to carry SOME weapon around with you. Ya know, in case of another assassin. I mean, she doesn’t HAVE to use her own dagger.

Also, gray-box SWTOR items are useful!
They give you a lot of money early on in the game XD

Never heard about it before, but Im a great fond of interesting reading, so I think Ill read it in nearest time and give you feedback
))

Well
yeah, ok how about this?, after you decide to take Hrothulf’s dagger you keep it attached to the body of Guenevere such as typing it under her dress around the abdomen, thigh, calf, or her arm . With this she can have a tiny advantage when she faces an enemy.
For example, let’s say Guenevere is unexpectedly attacked by another assassin this time with a sword. Guen grabs her own and fights off the enemy for a while until the assassin gets the upper hand and makes Guen drop her weapon. As a back up she can reach for the dagger and continue to defend herself by blocking attacks and giving out small ones in return. I actually saw something similar to this on a anime show I used to watch and figured it would be a good way to handle the dagger.
As for the other trophies, Maybe you can use the family crest as a reminder to Guen (especially a dutiful/calculating one) of what she has overcome so far and what she will do to get what she wants (such as power, a stronger kingdom, etc), or maybe to keep her soldiers in check so they will know what kind of queen they are protecting and what might happen if they disobey her. I believe someone has mentioned using the lock of hair for dark magic purposes so I am going to cosign with that.
One more thing based on what I just typed, is it possible for Guen to kill, banish, or threaten any of the knights for disobeying her orders?

It’s time for Guen to wear an Arsenal of weapons under her skirt. (Just kidding, you mentioned that’s not gonna happen.)

It’s for, you know, defense purposes. Anti-assassin tactics.

I am not expert in medieval clothing, but it is the chronicles that noble women carried a mercy dagger in the underlayer of his tunic. In Spanish tradition a good noble woman had to know how fight well enough to killing herself and his children before being dishonest treated by Muslims or low people. Nobles normally never killed children and noble women after fighting they were or use as ransom or jailed in monasteries no mistreated. So there were special holders and that for women and there were always poison . In Spain it was forbidden that women carried rings because fear of poison compartments. So yes poisonous stuff were common. so you don’t need a big blade

Lol, but was other jewelry allowed? And if yes, why couldn’t a woman hide poison in a necklace or earring?
