Thank you for comparing Arthur to Tom Hidleston! Now i can imagine him as a young version of this adorable actor

I think you’re achieving that goal pretty well. She often feels like she can or at least try her best to stand up for herself, but she can also be soft, kind, and warm…and even be witty. So you are doing great on the balance front if you ask me.
Heh! See more reasons for me to replay other then to see where the other relationships take me. =D
Tom as…best…mental image…evah!
@valkycam, Thank you! Since I have a droid I had not run into those Voltage USA games… good to know about, and Speakeasy Tonight looks like the most interesting. Of course, I guess I’m breaking the rules for what counts as an “otome” game by having the MC start out by getting married… since I think otome translates as “maiden,” which usually has connotations of not being married. But obviously Guenevere is in a similar spirit.
@Scrivener, Yay; it’s good to hear some Morgana/Guen love! I agree, their relationship can have a naturalness to it that the other two are lacking, since with Arthur there’s the weirdness of the arranged marriage, and then you’re absolutely right that there’s something affecting Lancelot, which will be revealed at the end of part 2. Morgana and Guen will have a couple of nice opportunities to take things to the next level in part 2.
@Ponku and @AngeloftheBroken, feel free to cast a very young Mr. Hiddleston, but for Arthur I’d imagine him playing a character who’s significantly less suave than his actual real-life self. Not that Arthur can’t be charismatic (I think someone said adorkable), I just don’t think he’d have the presence of mind or the sensitivity to say some of the incredibly gracious things TH is known for. Maybe Arthur can have TH’s looks and Lancelot can have something of TH’s real-life personality – now don’t you feel torn? >:)
O-oh my god…Yup…yup you have overloaded my imaginastion…that is just…yup, you broke me.
I totally agree with @Scrivener, my fave pairing by far is also Morgana/Guen.
@jeantown And Thanks to your comment above I look even more forward to the 2nd part to find out what 's going to happen with Morgana and Guen in the next parts.
But I know it takes time to write part 2, but it’s already such an amazing and incredible game, so I’ll try to be patient and stalk this post for any future Updates.
@jeantown yea i totally meant his looks not personality (also if Lance and Arthur both have sth from Tom that means a triangle with them is like beeing with actual TH )
Good to know you also remember about relationship with Morgana. I played with her last time and i must say its pretty intriguing, not to much sexual tention but it’s clear there is sth that draws them to each other if you play your character that way.
@jeantown Dont call this Otome this is far better than that machist genre. The way 90% portrait women like a stupid creature clumsy obsesed with get marry and children seems more ancient that your Guen. I played many of them and some are really amazing but the genre itself . I like Winterwolf ones are interesting and no Japanese, so women are better portrait . Voltage games are ultra expensive overrated and have a nasty fetichism with violence from your supossed love interest, if five ninjas secuestred me by brutal force my mind is not Oh cool i have to marry one of my assaulters , my life is complete…" stupid genre . if they captured me going to be torn in pieces! X(
@MaraJade While it’s true most otome games I’ve played go down that same route, it ain’t fair to call 'em all the same and hate the whole genre as a result. There are some that are actually quite brilliant.
@Bagelthief the lastnone i download was the worst ever .
First your bf try to rape in the first chapter due you dont want go beach or something similar your onichan save you and then start to insulting you call you whore and then force kiss you
O-o . Well i didnt ending it, i only reach when your brother gives you a ton of a special licord and when you pass out have sex with you , literally The worst its text where you supposed are so in loved but a boy only did is insulting you and obliged do nasty things.
the worst rated 12 years lol,Wtf?.
The genre name itself is wrong Maiden in the japanese concept of inocent woman presented to man to one of them decided acept you if not you are repudiate of your family.
I already said there are few great but the great mayority are all same without a choice real.
@MaraJade Yea i know exactly what you mean. Most of the japanese otome games are to weird and they treat women bad. I think the term “otome” is now largely used to describe romance game with female protagonist, not “real” otome word from japanese. If you like you can try renpy games (visual novels, most of them with romance and in english), they are much better than most voltage games.
@Ponku i recommend you winterwolf ones due they have otome rpg and sci fi otome when you are a boy . And directly a copy of princess maker but without weirdness jap game has also they include all sex options and if you want play without romance you can and have a good ending. They have even a phoenix right parody starring from a girl . And are cheap than voltage games
@MaraJade Oh i know winterwolves, I like them very much, just havent mentioned them because you already know aobut them. I played Heileen, Loren and flowershop summer, last time i was thinking about starting bionic heart or summer session.
I recommend you Bionic heart but is hard as hell and long choices really matter .I play planet stronghold and is rpg funny but we are being out topic sorry Jean
I’m not defending Voltage or anything, but I think some of the problems stems from their cultural norms, where society wants its women as more passive and more focused on marriage etc. It does irk me since I’m European and I see myself as a feminist who is not defined by her relationship but I understand that what may seem normal in Japan is very strange over here. I’ve played quite a number of them and I’ve never encountered any rape scenarios so I can’t comment on that (a really big no no in my book), though I have avoided the more supernatural and unrealistic ones.
I have to recommend Speakeasy tonight (it’s the first original game from the American arm of voltage) because the woman is smart and tough (and is not ashamed of her sexuality, in fact the cliche of women getting clingy after sex is inverted) and I liked the 1920s lingo. Mind you they are expensive and some of them are not as well written as this one.
@Ponku Can you please recommend any good renpy games? Thanks!
I haven’t tried the Morgana route yet. I’ve tried the Arthur / Guen / Lance triangle and I have to say I liked it very much. Heh it’s a fact that I always like to torment my characters. I’ve also tried the Hate Arthur mode and that was really well written and fun as well.
@MaraJade Thanks for recomendations and sorry for offtopic jean
Question: 'ow can emeralds be purple?
@Bagelthief simply in mines sometimes appear gems with special tones due a special mineral inside, if color its constant over gem and shine cost a lot more . there are blue diamonds for instance
The otome discussion itself certainly isn’t off-topic (the word is in the thread title, after all). It’s amazing to me how many gender issues Japanese media is willing to explore in ways that western media never would, and yet how much a lot of Japanese media can’t seem to escape from some of its own cultural expectations.
Age is one of the ones that drives me crazy. I used to love anime and jrpgs, and then I got older, and I was like, “Wait, why is everyone 14? I can’t identify with these kids anymore.” I still enjoy that type of storytelling, but I wish it didn’t act like life ends after 19. If I follow my plan and write all seven parts of Guenevere, she is going to be 48 (!!!) at the end of it – that’s pretty unprecedented as far as I know, and it’s a bit of a rebellion, on my part, against the idea that these genres have to be exclusively for/about teenagers (though I hope teenagers will still like it, and maybe see that life can still be interesting after 19, or 29, or even 39).
@Mara I like WinterWolves a lot, too. Loren was a huge, happy surprise for me – I bought it not really knowing what to expect, and ended up absolutely loving it. It has such a great balance of real rpg elements with strong character focus. As far as more romance-focused VNs go, my favorites are Date Warp, Re:Alistair, and Cinders.
A quick search on google and I can’t find even one mention of there ever bein’ a purple emerald. Could you back this up, please?
@Bagelthief, I just made up the purple emerald so the necklace would seem unique. I’t s the same idea as a blue diamond, just a fantasy version thereof.
