Oh another myth that might be relevant- Hercules lost to Dionysus in a drinking contest.
I know in this story Persephone is a demigod but is she immortal?
The PC is immortal in the sense that they won’t die of illness or old age, but they can still be killed. It would take a being of equal or greater power to do it, though, and it wouldn’t be easy, particularly given that one of their domains is life.
Okay played a Pyri playthrough.
Why would an MC who was taught how to fly by Hermes worry about bridges giving out, or worry about skipping over lava when you know, they can fly?
Why are we throwing generic energy blasts against the spider lady when the training session establishes that our attack spells manifest as plants growing out of nowhere to go stabby stabby?
And with our domain, it seems a shame to not be more creative with it.
Like how about generating vines to trip and bind the spider lady to use her own strategy against her? Can’t we block her webbing by growing plants in the way?
And the game told me when I healed the fury sister that I didn’t know what I was doing, but in point of fact healing and life magic is what I chose to learn when Hecate gave me the option.
Spiders are repulsed by the smell of peppermint and citrus. So how about macing her with peppermint? “Eat minty goodness, Spider Lady!”
It’s established at some point (maybe not on all branches, I’ll have to check that) that the flight spell won’t work over the chasm leading to Tartarus. The PC’s not powerful enough to do that.
It’s assumed that the PC has learned additional types of magic, given that they have been training this whole time, but I do think it’s fair to see if there are places where I can add more plant themed touches.
When it comes to the healing and life magic stuff, checking the book out of the library is not the same as reading it. I may look at including other opportunities to do so, or adjusting things so that the requirements are lower there, but the book you choose is an intention, as currently written, not an action by itself, and there’s a separate reading scene. (Again, I do need to make this more accessible, and will do so in edits.)
As for peppermint and citrus, she isn’t literally a spider, but I might see about something flavoured that way.
Thanks for the feedback.
About reading the book- Hecate asks us at the party if we read the book.
Since I replied yes, the game does establish that I had in fact read the book before entering Tartarus.
Hence my comment about it, the game tells me I don’t know anything about a subject the game establishes that I read a book about earlier.
So if you hadn’t intended us to read the book you should remove that dialogue from the party.
Cheers; I’ll amend things when I get to editing; that’s really helpful.
missed this story sm!! glad to see another chapter :D!! i’m so excited to see the hades romance progress, the slowburn is killing me
After the dinner you get a choice for who you want to take you back to your room, hekate’s shy option is linked to alekto’s. bold choice does work. great book btw!
Huh, thanks. I’ll have to take a look at that.
Love the update! <3
dugfggdjfdkhf I just binged this entire thing. This was such a joy to read. I love how important a lot of decisions feel, I love all of these characters, I love how if you have an MC that gets a little overwhelmed that characters accommodate for that, the cutest pUP, I love the actual fear I feel during action scenes things feel so weighty, I love how I don’t feel like I’m missing out by not knowing much about Greek mythology, I love how friendships develop, I LOVE (!!!) the slow burn with Hades (ahhhh I love it so much please; the clear buds of care that are forming and showing through actions like ahhhhhhh; when he was clear about how he wasn’t comfy with things being considered a date yet??? chef’s kiss I love it here; the dance even tho my MC is a flop dancer lol, him already catching words unspoken in that ‘i don’t want you to feel that you have to (stay)’ option, them relying on each other, them letting each other know they have a place they can confide), edit: and i didn’t even mention how protective he was during the giant fight???, and I may not know much about Greek myths (like didn’t even realize what myth Eurydice’s presence was alluding to until Orpheus showed up in person lmao) but the fact that you can cHANGE the outcome of their fate??? I’m yelling??? This was so much fun. I wish I had discovered this story a few years from now because I just want to keep going and going. Sorry for my incoherency lol. I legit just finished my binge read like a minute ago and ran here. Thank you for making this and thank you for your hard work!
I found a bug in the game, no way to continue playing, stuck on the statistics page and the button go back in the game does not work (ru-en google translate)
Did you save on the stats page? This is a known bug that occurs sometimes in games hosted on Dashingdon; I have no control over it, unfortunately. Typically if people save on the stats page they can’t return to playing the game from that file. I think there’s a few other things that cause it but I don’t remember what they are.
Sorry you got caught in it, if that’s indeed what happened, but it’s not something I’m able to fix.
The others include checking the stat page immediately after saving (instead of moving a page forward), and saving immediately after leaving. It may be a server latency thing, which has no fix beyond being built better.
It is always possible to go back if the choice you pick doesn’t have the intended result you want, as long as you made sure to save before the choice, and don’t go to the stat page. You can go as many times as you want after a successful reload, though.
Hey I’m having this problem getting to the 9th chapter and it like continuously loading I’m not sure if it a problem with your script or the website. (This has never happened before in any other dashingdon I have read)
That’s because the ninth chapter doesn’t exist yet. I’ve made some kind of error at the end of chapter eight, where I’ve “sent” the game to somewhere it can’t go, but it doesn’t ultimately matter too much, because when you reach the eternal loading screen, you’ve reached the end of the demo.
Thank for telling me this! I was so confused. Normally I finish the demo and it takes me to a screen saying ‘this is the end of the demo’ and giving me the option to play again.
So I was curious what it would be like choosing all the X options in one play through (and let me just say I was pleasantly surprised at how consistent they come up even late into the game), anyway I’m only halfway through that particular run but damn, I feel like I’m kicking metaphorical puppies here, every ones so… mature? nice? in their responses, its oddly refreshing. The guilt is real though. Anyway I can’t wait to see how that will go.
Also I’m wondering, regarding the whole your influence effects the underworld thing, would it be possible to introduce plants native/accustomed to the underworld, more specifically glow in the dark plants? I just keep imagining the underworld gaining Avatar Pandora-esque plants, not just the underworld becoming more hospitable to plant life but the plants having to adapt and change to actually flourish there, you know? Just a thought.
Also I love how the story is going so far, and I can’t wait to read more!
I’ll cease my ramblings now.
De-lurking briefly to gush about how much I adore everything about this game. The Hades slow-burn romance is giving me life (ironically). Every time you release a new chapter I can’t get to it fast enough. Great work! Can’t wait for the full release!!
