Such a lovely update as per usual, thank you so much for sharing it with us!! That last scene with the fruit was truly something else…I loved how everyone had a different one, and besides Hades’ which was a clear reference, it did make me wonder if they were based on any myths.

The others were not based on any myths in particular, though I did attempt to choose fruits that were reasonably thematic for each of them!

I really enjoyed your take on this myth and just the general atmosphere of this game.
Makes me wish I was in the Underworld.

Keep up the good work.

Loved the update. But my fav was this (it took a good laugh out of me imagining MC biting it like this*)

There need to be more shy flirting choices because sometimes the only flirting choice I can pick is a bold one.

It just doesn’t fit how I want my MC to be, which is someone who is very shy and is just getting freedom for the first time so yeah they wouldn’t be like bolding saying “There are worse things in life than suddenly getting a handsome husband, you know.” or “Take his hand and set it on your shoulder with a sly smile”

@furyleika

Thank you for letting me know plus that’s so nice that you don’t have to be romantic all the damn time to make progress in this game because it feels kind of gross in some situations to pick a flirt like in the middle of a life-or-death moment or after someone has just died… :confounded:

You don’t have to take every opportunity to flirt to progress the romance. My PC is shyly flirting with that RO and has made progress with only picking less forward options to express interest.

Not trying to invalidate your opinion or anything, just letting you know you don’t have to hit every one like in some VNs.

Yeah I’m definitely going to be revisiting some of the flirtation options in the edit phase of things, but you don’t have to flirt at every opportunity, and with some ROs it’s actually a bit better if you don’t (being too forward with some of them can make things a bit awkward in places).

In general with this game, the goal is to build it so people can just RP without worrying about hitting every single option to raise the same stat, or ‘advance’ a relationship. It’s meant to be more about personality and interaction than bumping up a bunch of numbers. But the numbers still being there may give a different impression, and I totally get that.

When it says "This choice locks in your romantic/platonic “route,” does that mean we can have a platonic life partner(s) in this game or am I understanding that wrong?

Okay- I chose to ask the Oracle to build a temple for my new Cthonic buddies in return for my miracle, and the Oracle mentions not mentioning my involvement.

Except I didn’t ask that my involvement be a secret, I picture my Dionysus being fine with getting credit.

Also, at the party, the game mentions that my Dionysus “fell for the trap” of getting drunk before painting, yet previously I had chosen that my character can drink like a fish.

I figured my introverted scholarly Dionysus should at least have an iron liver.

So shouldn’t my “can drink gods under the table” character be sober enough to paint without making a fool out of himself?

@Max_Jones Yes! You do not have to romance anyone, and in that case, the route you choose can be platonic and the story will proceed. I’m planning some platonic-exclusive scenes for the next game, but as of this one there’s not really any major difference yet except as a result of other things the PC chooses to do or not do, such as flirt.

@stsword Thanks for those; I think the first is a situation where I may have gotten careless with the text, and the second a place I forgot to check for a previously-set variable. I’ll have a look at fixing them both in my next round of edits.

Amazing update so far. My only question is, will ever Hercules make an entrance in the story? It’s criminal to make a wholesome story about Greek mythology and not to include him.

He would have to be rescuing someone.

No, one of his labors was dognapping Kerby.

Or his death before Zeus gave him apotheosis.

Pretty sure his “labor” had to do with rescuing the two idiots who thought they could steal Persephone, but Hercules only succeeded in taking back one because that one wasn’t the one intending to make her his wife, so Hades agreed to let him go, but not the wife kidnapper. Not that he wouldn’t have had an encounter with Kerby anyway, but that’s the version of the story I read. Devotees of Zeus belong to Zeus is the idea here, even if the punishment such as it is was justified.

Not really, at least in the popular version.

His twelfth labor was to bring King Eurystheus Cerberus.

He just happened to run into Theseus and Pirithous while he was there.

All I can say about what myths will or will not be appearing is: wait and see.

WHY HAS THE FORUM HIDDEN THIS AMAZING WIP FROM ME
Great writing style and ROs.
Any chance we will be able to meet (checks list of greek heroes) Theseus?

(Also, as a theater kid, the orpheus and eurydice part affected me TO MY CORE)
