No, it’s okay. No thanks needed. I try to help as much as possible.
Hmm…So is the programing phase hard?
notepad++ is just a text editor it just lets you edit the files you got with the choicescript older.
XD wait, do you know how to program @Greenwolf?
No…And Now I have suddenly come confused…Do I use Notepad++ Or Choicescript!!! Lol
you use notepad++ to write and edit choicescript files. dropbox allows people to play it online.
Well…how do I start a choicescript file?
Now I feel like I did bad confusing you, I would try to explain more but I feel like I might start to do more damage than good.
But Notepad++ is just to edit CS files because if you dont have it alot of the stuff becomes inaccessible for some reason, so it’s kind of like a translator in a translator, to make everything easier to use… I hope I explained that well… I doubt I did.
And if you wanna start writing go to whatever file that contains the CS stuff in it, Gawd im horrible at explaining but then go to webs then mygame then scenes and click on the startup text file and it should pop up and that’s where you begin to write and also code. you can do what Nocturnal said and open that text file with notepad++ and start working on your story most use notepad++ you dont have to for that part but it helps for alot of people

Your majesty, your people are starving in the streets, and threaten revolution.
Our enemies to the west are weak, but they threaten soon to invade. What will you do?
*choice
#Make pre-emptive war on the western lands.
If you can seize their territory, your kingdom will flourish. But your army’s
morale is low and the kingdom’s armory is empty. How will you win the war?
*choice
#Drive the peasants like slaves; if we work hard enough, we’ll win.
Unfortunately, morale doesn’t work like that. Your army soon turns against you
and the kingdom falls to the western barbarians.
*finish
#Appoint charismatic knights and give them land, peasants, and resources.
Your majesty’s people are eminently resourceful. Your knights win the day,
but take care: they may soon demand a convention of parliament.
*finish
#Steal food and weapons from the enemy in the dead of night.
A cunning plan. Soon your army is a match for the westerners; they choose
not to invade for now, but how long can your majesty postpone the inevitable?
*finish
#Beat swords to plowshares and trade food to the westerners for protection.
The westerners have you at the point of a sword. They demand unfair terms
from you.
*choice
#Accept the terms for now.
Eventually, the barbarian westerners conquer you anyway, destroying their
bread basket, and the entire region starves.
*finish
#Threaten to salt our fields if they don’t offer better terms.
They blink. Your majesty gets a fair price for wheat.
*finish
#Abdicate the throne. I have clearly mismanaged this kingdom!
The kingdom descends into chaos, but you manage to escape with your own hide.
Perhaps in time you can return to restore order to this fair land.

Thats what popped up…Is that normal?
yep! perfectly normal! it’s just an example to get you started
OMFG that is exactly what im saying how people go insane with Fanfiction and just go in this highly creepy bizarre level of fantasies… like seriously? I dont even consider that Fanfiction it’s like smut that has flooded fanfiction and given it a horrible name.
And my skin crawls at what possibly comes on in people’s mind when they write this stuff, It’s less that people wanting to add onto a universe and expand it’s story but more like they wanna write out their disturbing sex fantasies and slander the name of whatever universe it takes place in.
And another question… who is the targeted audience here? people who are into guy on guy and like the world it is based in? but I think a true fan of whatever the smut is based off wouldnt recognize this smut as acceptable.
I’ve always believed that a lot of people don’t take fanfiction seriously, as they shouldn’t. A lot of the time, it’s just harmless retooling of a fake universe, and as far as I know it’s usually to explore couples, whether canon or fanon, or, gods forfend, to introduce personal characters that fans create themselves.
It seems you’ve never been or seen a fangirl, so I recommend acquainting yourself with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_fiction
and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_(person)#Fanboy.2Ffangirl
I have. I was on an anime site I just didnt wanna put preteen females on blast like that and have it seem like im being sexist when it actuality it is mostly girl’s writing this stuff but still alot of it is… Odd X_X I seen people pair up and create romance stories about people who are siblings or people who are related. I know it’s not meant to be taken seriously but at the same time it’s kind of really bizarre where people will take PG stories to an extent Im not even sure is healthy.
like if someone has fantasies im cool with that I know people mostly cant help what they are into even if it’s a bit gross, but why do they have to push it onto fictional characters that belong to someone else why cant they have they just come up with their own characters and do those things is what kinda annoys me about it.
But yah, if it’s tasteful meaning it doesnt go in that weird direction of being erotica and it has a nice story and adds something to the universe I wouldnt care. if I created like something alot of people liked I honestly wouldnt care if people wrote fanfiction to it just aslong as they dont go that immature route
I think you’re using tasteful wrong in this sense. Tasteful, or tasteless, is generally referring to the quality of an erotica or porn in and of itself.
Anyhoo, a lot of fanfiction is smut, terrible, or just terrible smut. I’ve rarely found people actually looking for genuine - meaning that it could possibly be a real scene/chapter/episode/etc. - story in fanfiction.
I’d say the mass of fanfiction caters to people who see what they wanna see, write what they want to write, and pair who they want to pair. It’s generally about the communities wishes, not realism (though the closer to believable is obviously better) or fidelity to franchise. Fangirls (which is more unisex than the term implies) often look and find a variety of tropes and terms, which I won’t go into.
Simply put, I don’t believe traditional (which is unorthodox to you) fanfiction caters to you.
So that I segue back to the main topic of this thread, @Greenwolf, I hope you do write a super hero game (that is intentionally spaced), and should you require help, feel free to post a topic in either the Game Development or ChoiceScript Help categories, accordingly.
PS: If you have code problems, use [pre][/pre] tags to post them, replacing the square brackets with angular ones.
I feel as if we are moving off topic…Lol…Um…so fanfiction is not all erotica…Like in the Inheritance cycle FF universe…there is a good bit of people who are upset over the ending and just want there pairing to have a happy ending…A ending they can tape into the back of the book over the real ending…Its not all bad…dont let a few rats spoil the bunch
No, I thought that might be out of context I suck at elaborating. I mean if it doesnt go in just a pure awkward for the sake of it direction and Yah, I did use it wrong but no, I wouldnt wanna read something that goes into something that makes no sense. I guess a romance would be okay if it makes sense and seems like it might actually happen in the story and isnt just sex every five pages I guess it would be acceptable.
And sorry about getting off-topic. I agree with you @Greenwolf but Good FF is outnumbered by Horrible FF, it’s like Spartans vs Persians kinda ratio T.T which makes me wanna cry.
Ah, but Spartans held a choke-point with superior quality heavy infantry and Xerxes was just dumb.
It’s unsurprising that a not-inconsiderable amount of fanfiction is sexual; why expect substance from inspiration-lacking thieves? Some examples may be well-written, but the “author” did themself a disservice when their talent could have been put towards an original work.
You shouldn’t call everyone who writes fanfiction as “inspiration-lacking thieves” some people just like working within a preset world.
Regardless of whether I write a story about Superman, a kryptonian I created myself or an original superhero. Its still writing. I don’t lack inspiration and have written many stories from my own worlds but I also wrote a bit of resident evil fiction and mass effect a few years ago. How does that make me a thief? I never passed it off as solely my work, never profited from it and people seemed to like them.
fanfiction itself isn’t bad just like original fiction isn’t always great. It’s down to the writer themselves.
