Fallen Hero: Revelations (WIP) Updated: Nov 12 2024

I had that thought too. I guess it depends on how much Impostor would care about keeping up the pretense. Probably Bo/Rosie (and the rest of the team if mob boss) would expect the boss to do something…

Turn on the power of puppy eyes. It will surely soften Steel :ok_hand:
Btw. I wonder if he told the rest of the Rangers about the arrest. Especially Ortega.

Hopefully

(but he seemed pretty upset so I doubt it would be that easy lol)

Depending on how things went Ortega may know already. If I remember correctly, there’s a version of that scene where the puppet is arrested because Ortega knocked them out.

Steel is out of spoons to give.

Hunger strike! They can’t keep MC there forever.

 I think some Steps would want to confess that it’s them in another body and prove it somehow. That would be interesting scenario… although none of my MCs would do that. Never ever.

Is Ortega and Steel’s poly implemented yet and additionally is it supposed to skip over assigning the values for the relationships of Steel, Argent and Herald?

Not yet. There haven’t been many romance related things overall (so far) so sometimes the relationship status you have with the characters or their exact percentage isn’t even required.

The flags for the rest of the Retribution polys will probably be added in with the innocent path 1 endings

Recently I went back to path 4.2 and now I’m wondering. What would Ortega do if they found out MC started considering HG as family and actually cared about them! xD

After all, HG has been Ortega’s obsession for years. They want to overthrow them and take revenge for Hood…

Well, Ortega already spent years thinking MC considers HG their family, just one they’re trying to get away from.

Well. Thinking that they were related because they look too similar for it to be a coincidence, not that MC considered HG family and cared about them.

And I mean the scenario where Ortega already knows about ReGene.

Well, their life is about to get a lot more complicated. Familiy reunions usually are.

Yes. I would b cool to let Sidestep’s self hatred manifest in hatred against those like them. However, I don’t agree that choosing to save the Re-Gene doesn’t make sense after choosing to fight. What I mean is that it makes sense in the way people make no sense sometimes. At least I think of my Sidestep as very impulsive, her first thought was “I gotta help Rosie” then “Damn. Can I control the group in a fight?” Then when seeing the Re-Gene wasn’t a threat anymore she didn’t see why she should finish the fight (doesn’t think the Farm could connect this to her) so I do like the option. (Specially since the dialogue was my main confirmation that Sidestep was a Re-Gene before playing Retri.)

I admit “drone” wasn’t the right word to express what I thought about them so let me clarify. I didn’t mean it like they are literal flesh machines but rather heavily, heavily autistic, like Ultra-Rainman. Although he was great at math and Re-Genes at killing and following orders, they both lacked in the normal human department. I thought the normal human feelings, social norms, and sense of self could only be acquired by telepaths who are unknowingly (to them) influenced by normal human minds they get in contact with, and kinda being slowly reset to “normal” weather they want it or not.
Armadillo as a combat unit I thought lacked that crucial (in my assumption) element of human mind influence as well as not being at least somewhat familiar with the alternative to the life he’s leading to be able to initiate the inner-self-development.

You are right, but have you considered this: Snitches.
As you said it is human nature to create means for communication, as is the desire to improve one’s life standing often to the detriment of others. Human history is unfortunately full of such precedents, for example in World War 2 inmates in German death camps were incentivized to report other inmates for suspicious behavior to get benefits like food, better treatment or to avoid the worst fate. In other cases, there were inmates planted by the Germans specifically to be spies. Often the inmates who gained higher status by those means treated others even worse than their actual jailors.
My thoughts were that if Re-genes have normal human thoughts, emotions, and desires it should be possible some would act against the community as a whole to benefit themselves regardless if their jailors actually planned to treat them any better.
Also, think about this, all the other Re-Gernes have to initiate every new one into their secret society, which means a potential secrecy breach with every new unit introduced in terms of potential spies as well as them just having bad poker face and revealing everything accidentally.
Also, the fact that we are aware of some sort of secret language in prisons already works against your argument. Someone had to spill the beans otherwise we would not even know one exists and that’s all it takes. The Farm doesn’t need to understand anything the Re-Genes want to communicate between themselves, just that they somehow do and the jig is up.

True, but the fact that there is prejudice (not clear to what extent exactly) makes forming any sort of unified community and language that much more difficult, and in the environment where their every move is scrutinized they can’t allow themselves to discriminate between different units. Otherwise, Cokoos would develop different languages than combat units and language is perhaps the most important binding element in any community.
That is why I said before that maybe that prejudice (whatever it may be) was programmed intentionally by the Farm to keep Re-Genes from uniting in any significant way. After all a divided populace is easier to control.

I guess we don’t know enough yet to be certain how exactly Re-Gene society’s structure looks or what means the Farm uses exactly to keep them in check. The issue for me ( but not really an issue) would the fact that the Farm knows RG aren’t robots. They had to take into account that they are dealing with real people regardles of how dehumanizingly they treat them. The human ingenuity, tenacity, courage or simple “f**k it, I’m gonna take you all with me” atittude are all threats to the Farm’s authority and controll over RG’s and had to be somehow countermeasured. Think of a seven foot tall, armored killing mashine with the best possible military raining avaiable. Now how can soneone force it to do anything when it has it’s own free will, wants and desires?
The measures used by the Farm are as far as I know not fully revealed yet and I guess thats why my version fits better in my head when Farm thinks RG are just incapable of anything they were not programmed with or trained for, because they are “slow in the head” and therefore pose no threat and are looked down upon.

Just a random question but if someone thinks in a different language, would SS still be able to understand them?

Sidestep is a polyglot, with several languages implanted by the Farm (see them easily understanding French, Spanish, and Farsi, among others). There’s also the issue that people “think” in different ways. Even if someone speaks a language that isn’t in Step’s repertoire, they can still determine angry/sad/want to throw a rock at X/etc.

Considering that Sidestep is apparently capable of understanding on some level even thoughts of dogs (and very much tries to avoid the contents of what passes for seagull brains) different language shouldn’t pose too much of a barrier.

I hope this one breaks my heart as much as the sequel did

There was a similar question to the author on reddit

“Can Sidestep actually understand Ortega’s mother tongue? Can a telepath actually understand a person who doesn’t speak English at all?”

“u/MalinFHauthor

Sidestep speaks spanish, yes. And if the telepath could understand would depend on the type. Some telepaths are very verbal based, they hear thoughts as words, and so they wouldn’t pick up more than they wound while listening into a conversation. Might pick up some tone, but no more. Other telepaths (like Sidestep) also have a huge touch of empathic talents, and might be able to read more detailed feelings about various subjects, while a more visual telepath who sees things in pictures might not care about language at all.”
