Can someone please explain me as i am lost , I have played both books few times and explored I think at most 2 paths and ended with my sidestep paralyzed, stuck in puppet and trying mortum to free him using sky beast guy , but here playing these demos confused me a bit like how did imposters come about and that too 4 of them lol ? Like after reading comments i still dont know who ace is ? I know heartbreak , but how the hell he possesses us after all these years ? And even in book 2 did not get exactly what these gates are? Any help would be appreciated.

Ace is the Puppetâs real identity, before they were wiped out by Shroud. You can find this out by going to the Casino as the Puppet and following up on Shroud with Mortum.
Itâs not confirmed that HB is an impostor, itâs just a (strong) theory. More will be revealed as the demo progresses.
The Gates are mental barriers in Stepâs mind that are holding⌠something back, seemingly some kind of psychic entity. They open when Step takes self-destructive and self-harming actions, and close when they make steps towards healing. There are 9 in total, it seems like something very bad will happen if all of them open. You can end Retribution with at most 7 open.

Possibly unnecessary (and confusing) clarification, you can open nine gates, just when you get to the crash-dream, two of the gates get closed because ofâŚsomething. Itâs very surreal.
Also itâs very concerning that the demo has the highest gate count as 4 and âthings are going badlyââŚand at the very least, 4 is the count I try to go through in my âcanonâ playthroughs, not even with a high-gate build, thatâs just me vibing.

Ending 1.1.3 where Chen knows youâre the villain is my favourite, Iâm looking forward to reading the continuation!
I like it because my Sidestep doesnât have to lie to his love interest anymore because he already knows, while Argent doesnât - my Sidestep is (Iâm) kinda scared of her and will avoid confrontation with her like fire HELP
Besides, I think the dialogue in that one is silly :]

Thanks that cleared a lot of confusion and demo is starting to make more sense to me now , in my playthrough i wanted to be mentally strong so i dont think i broke any gates as i wanted to be a badass mob boss who kicks names and takes asses lol , but damn puppet can actually wake up and beat my ass even tho technically we kinda saved her life as she was braindead and we gave her new purpose , so ungrateful lol

I think my canon ending is 2.4 with sidestep getting wrecked and puppet pleading mortum to save his sorry as using henchmen lol , where i am still fooling the rangers , stringing herald and ortega , hateflirting with angela and want to beat wannabe supe chen to ground , wanna be the new mob boss , bury hollow ground 100 feet under and f the superheros up for underestimating me and lot of sheneniangans with puppet , i dont distinctly remember but does 2.4 ending also implies puppet is taking control from us as we have no other body to run to ?? I cant seem to remember ??

IDK if iâm missing something or not, but i keep getting the sidestep crash ending in character creation iâm not seeing any options to select wheater i or my puppet went to the meeting with hollowed ground

Truth be told, Heartbreak kinda overshadows everything else. I only heard about this Void, with the 3rd Book demoâŚ
Before that, everyone was on âSidestepâ, âheartbreakâ as villains names.

Yeah I love the little details and variables, but at a certain point not confusing the player has to take priority over realistic character reactions.
I can only recall one Void namedrop in the first book (which was after the fight in Ortegaâs room) and âVoidâ is a fairly reasonable name a person with a mysterious aesthetic would choose, so a first time player would very likely get absolutely confused if a character reacted to a name that they did not realize had meaning. This series holds a lot of information back already (which is neat!!), but a reaction to Void isnât a mystery, itâs either confusing a new player or itâs an Easter egg for an old one.
Unless the reaction to Void would only be third book on, in which case the humor of Ortega suddenly turning around and going âyou know whatâs been bugging me for literal months? Your name. Itâs wild you did that.â could be worth the logic hole of them not bringing it up earlier.

Personally (and itâs just a suggestion, not trying to add to your load Senpai lol), I would rather have more variations to the others names we can use.
Like for example: Pein = Ortega is sympathic +1 due to scare leaving you not okay anymore.
Puppet master = suspicious Ortega +1
Retribution = revenge? dunno, +1 to whoever is picked as rival?

Lol I always use Pein due to watching a Manga called Naruto 
But yeah Pein stand for Pain I suppose.
So I always had some problems with the games of fallen hero, donât mistake me I love the game, but itâs hard for me to understand the variables. Like I donât know what was the situation of my puppet, was he a person? Comfortable? I donât know. And i have this problem with a lot of variables because I donât know which choices lead to which variables? So if some help for variables or how they have been reached (specialy for character making progress) would be awesome and it will make wonders.
And what is the HG variable that you mentioned in the cataloging? And now what is the flavor of what is inside your Puppet?
I need a lot of clarification for the stand fors words and variables in the whole books.
But still I love the story and game. I just need some understanding of the process. Thanks.
