Even if it is just psyche, that doesn’t make it safe. Sidestep’s telepathy can hurt people, as seen by what Heartbreak was capable of. I think there’s a “shard” or residue of Heartbreak inside Sidestep that they have been holding back but I’m not expecting a warp ghost to leap out of our head or something.
Wonder what would happen…if this shard or residue is cast into the cacofiend.
Think that would be more powerful than HB was? Its for science!
Thank you for the in-depth explanation. Tempted to get the games on steam to see the values. l got the talk of gates during the scientist dream / flashback so makes more sense now.
Lol. I just finished reading that part and I was like “Wait, what?”
Have you do a different choice where the puppet meet HG instead of MC? Does Dr.Mortum also save the puppet as well.?
Bless me for sticking with Angie lmao.
I have…
Lol how are you enjoying Lady Argent romance so far?
Man my sidestep got both sneak and healing achievements not only that but inspite of being a heartless villian in this playthrough i somehow got chen to check his brain and got HG and extra enemy this playthrough sidestep villian is on a roll and also healing from trauma , great!
There’s a key piece of information that we don’t have yet, which is how it works and what it entails to be effective. Mortem comments in the epilogue that what it requires would be an issue if she were ethical in any traditional way, and of course the item’s history points to it being problematic in some critical, dramatic way.
My choice would be TBD.
You can stay friends with them throughout book 1 and 2 but the mc can admit to them that they fell in love with Mortum in the reveal scene and they can explain that they didn’t pursue Mortum (edit: as the puppet) because it didn’t feel right. I’m also waiting to romance Mortum in book 3
So many replies already. That’s what I get for being a slow reader I guess. In case it isn’t clear I absolutely love this series. It was an early demo of the first Fallen Hero that brought me out of lurking and it’s still a favorite. This story is better in almost every way. Congratulations @malinryden.
So my favorite part of this series is how much I miss on the first run. My least favorite part is how much I miss on my first run. For example
I haven't read the thread yet so this could all be old news but
I didn’t realize Owls husband Leo was the Handyman until the epilogue. Sure enough on a reread its mentioned by Ortega that Owl has taken time off after he got himself “into trouble.”
Then there’s Marshal Hood. Just a name mentioned a few times. Until you start making connections. He’s mentioned as a geokinetic like HG here
Except if you’re subtle enough you know HG isn’t a geokinetic, their a mind controller. Which means in the epilogue when they are exhausted from making the “old man” comfortable they’ve actually been faking geo powers by controlling Ortegas less dead than advertised mentor. As if Ortegas mind hasn’t been fucked enough already.
And I still haven’t quite placed Sentinel yet. I have theories but their still just hunches. Like the one I have about finding Locus in a tank in Dr Mortums telepathy project.
Also I’m officially nominating the Rat King for best formerly furry friend ever.
I quite love it…
To be honest, I had expect her path to be like Morgan from Wayhaven (with all of those angst and stubbornly refused to acknowledged their feelings etc), but i was mindblown when she was actually be so caring and cute, especially at the end.
I never said it is safe. If anything if it is the psyche it is extremely dangerous because it will just result in Heartbreak 2,0
Geez…they do say all the road lead to Rome- I mean Ortega
Sounds like a skill issue, I slept with the good Doctor, revealed everything and once I asked to help retrieve my body he forgave me and dare I say it made the relationship stronger than ever.
Oh, and what happen in the end?
At the end when? That is the end for now.
Yeah I don’t think you get it.
You will see in book 3
That’s the stuck in puppet path so of course things are going to be happier with Mortum but there is still the problem of the crazy monster they have in thier teleporter gun which they don’t know about and a crazy very powerful telepath who is probably going to be very unhappy about their puppet walking around without them so things aren’t going to stay happy for long
Right thread this time.
I noticed that when you go see HG as your puppet and jump out at the last minute and you meet Ortega at their apartment, you have the option to tell them that you are a Re-Gen, but no option to tell them that you are the villain. I felt like this option really should have been there.
I mean every end doesn’t stay happy for long. Leaving puppet alone in distrustful Mortum’s hands is also problematic considering puppet is an important disguise between Sidestep and Ortega.
Spending time happily with the rangers won’t stay for long either.
Well you know, what kind of villains would you be if you were living a peaceful life? Living on the edge is fun
