The thing about the epilogues is that they give me different feelings? Like the ones with Fakestep make me think it’s HB because there’s no confusion, no hesitation. They wake up and it’s immediately “the game is afoot.”
The ones with the puppet, however, are strange. The mysterious “he” character sometimes mentioned makes me think it’s HB, but at the same time the culprit for that incident changes depending on your puppet’s gender, which means it should morph to “she” accordingly and I don’t believe it does?
Not to mention, it seems like you can shape the puppet’s behavior a little bit + the ending where no one breaks the puppet out of the hospital and they wake up screaming left me 
.
Overall, I think it’s Heartbreak related, but at the same time if anyone has theories I’d love to read them.

I feel Imposter really want puppet body but Why If Maybe possible ,Crash accident is not accident and managed by someone who knows Ostega track down HG and spy on us . Maybe have related with sniper who have warning shot during Oterga -Puppet Date. Too coincidence sniper show up everytime we stay with Ortega
We also only know Sidestep’s experience/memories of the Heartbreak incident, too—for all we know, the eye color may not be the same and that was just something that was telepathically projected

Speaking of unreliable information, another thing that jumped out was the whole pain gate thing. If Step remembers having one while being experimented on, why did the Farm take it out? Is that memory really theirs or…?
Like Step says “they did it to punish me” but by now I’m going full Ortega mode (alas my tinfoil hat is strangling me)

Nothing concrete, just in how the entity inside the puppet and the entity inside Sidestep behave a bit differently in the epilogues. For example, the puppet is never described as having a sharp smile.
So basically it’s a gut feeling, but it’s as much evidence as people have that it’s HB inside both, or even that it’s HB at all. It could very well be like Micky Mouse inside them

Endings where that person looks in the mirror and smile sharply are the same whether it’s Sidestep body or puppet body.

This is something that I actually put more faith in as something that was real. Sidestep admits that they don’t actually know what happened—if the Farm took it out to punish them or if it was damaged in the fall. But it impacts Sidestep’s current experiences (their ability to feel physical pain) so I trust that this was actually something that happened

How do you get this bit of text? I don’t think I’ve seen it before.
Go to the HG meeting as Sidestep and remain inside that body after the crash. You also need to be exposed as a villain. If the Rangers don’t suspect you, then you don’t get this option.

Interesting! I’ve only done that sequence while also romancing Chen and didn’t see the text. Maybe that supercedes it.
So it’s already confirmed that it won’t happen? this is sad, I was really hoping it would be a choice in the future after seeing the ending.
If it’s any consolation - there will be two new ROs (villains).

I’m curious to see how that will play out, even if I’m more fond of the good guy route (unless enemies to lovers is possible, in which case oh boy Ortega is in trouble)

I have similar attitude towards him
But some people think his pov suggests he’s more than just HG’s lackey.
Maybe Shroud will be RO? Although… kissing her isn’t the best idea XDD

I’ll note there is a bit more to his character put in the game, but seeing that is very difficult, part of it is reserved for a thief Step iirc? You can find and cut the string HG threaded Jake with, it changes some of his interactions, adds more flavour to his character. I like Jake myself.
