Орлёнок - Eaglet (WIP) (v0.0.2a, 21.06.24, wordcount 29859)

@anon67111821 The nonverbal option you mentioned is only available if you chose to play an autistic MC before, so it’s because of that. For non-autistic characters, nonverbal and touch-averse can be chosen as trauma results after your execution.
You can set nicknames both for yourself and other characters. It comes up in certain scenes, but you can also set them directly in the customization menu (stat menu → customization menu → customize myself → RO forms of address/Nickname (friends) (the latter might actually be deprecated, I’ll have to look into it) (if you have a bunch of empty options, it’s because naming variables are missing, just play a bit further).

@slizard Yeah, someone else also mentioned that to me, the truth is I just didn’t think about the other characters’ names when writing the name suggestions. I have adding special scenes for when you choose the same name as one of the other characters on my todo list.
Male (and nb!) MCs will get their own suffering scenes eventually, I just haven’t found something quite as horrible for them yet (and I can’t use the same circumstances as for female MCs because of future plot points).

@CynicalMiester I’m pretty sure that’s not the code’s fault, I’ve had several reports of random variables going missing and I think it’s because people were still playing while I uploaded several smaller fixes. One of them was changing the name_base generation upon being saved by Liliya, since the others weren’t supposed to already have titles displayed when discussing titles…
Wait. I just noticed names will absolutely be missing if you didn’t choose RO gender beforehand at that point. I’ll fix that right now…
EDIT: fixed, you get to choose RO genders now instead of being introduced to them with missing names if you chose to not set their gender at game start.

Am gonna play in a few days probably but by the customization talk I’m interested, just really hoping my anarcho-communist ass won’t be too put off by the premise

KULT MENTIONED WE WILL BE PLAYING
But fr even if I know it’s russian empire, I’m still happy to see some polish surnames during the story <3
And the customization options are amazing!

Love the setting you chose. Everyone has a similar medieval/edo period fantasy setting going on and it can become stale. From what i’ve seen regarding the game is a lot of detail for customization (which is great) but not enough fleshing out characters to get us truly invested.

Will it be possible to do a communist run?

From what I saw from you on Tumblr I 100% expected that we would be a white army, with the possibility of establishing an absolutist or constitutional monarchy, etc etc, there would be an emperor at the end, but when I saw one of the title options it was ‘Comrade’ I was like ‘excuse me?’

and because a lot for our support come from nobles, that made me even more confused. It would be cool as hell, I even throught that the noble title could be ‘Red Prince’, but I still confused.

Hii, this WIP was definitely an interesting one, and i like how there’s so many options to choose from. But tbh i was already getting confused with all the clothing names n its too much work to search it all up one by one :sob:

Overall tho i rlly enjoyed it n hope ull write more!

(This was a small error i noticed in the game, i think u meant a instead of s ) :

@lukan (can’t tag you for some reason): you can go not just Monarchy, but also Military Dictatorship, Theocracy or Democracy, and you can build your support base not just among the nobility, but also the other strata and political movements among the people, so I guess you can do a pseudo-communist (Sihanouk-adjacent?) run… but overall, the title suggestions don’t mean much. They are really just suggestions, with no implications for the story or lore.

@KB0110 I am planning to add icons to all clothing items to make them less confusing (there are already temporarily pictures from Wikimedia Commons as well as Wikipedia links for the headwear stuff, though a lot of the pictures don’t work on DashingDon for some reason).
Thanks for spotting the typo! It will be gone in the next hotfix I upload

I noticed that while one of the ways we can modernize our military is by allowing women to bear arms and join our armies, female officers are already a thing, and not all that uncommon from the looks of it. Is there a lore reasoning for this?

My gosh! This is so good. I’m expecting more blood and tragedy in the future .

I assume since most Officers are of Noble Birth, that the reason is that it’s better for a Noble to be an Officer than a Commoner. Could be wrong tho

Honestly I’m very excited for this WIP, will lurk and play a couple thousand times for sure haha

Exactly correct. Once the rescue scenes for the other three arrive, it’ll be explained-
(Selena is filling in for her father who’s fallen ill, which is not seen as problematic since the cavalry formation she’s commanding mostly exists for parade purposes; Leah does not hold a formal military rank, but can basically do what she wants due to her high noble status (though it’s seen as just playing around as a hobby); Marina is the only real exception, but she’s a military bureaucrat, not a commander, which is a bit of a grey zone)

do you mean insane as a joke or a fact or just a description cause i myself feel this kind of games the more “realistic” the better it get so please unleash EVERYTHING in the game

this wip is already one of my favorites!!

like it , bit short to say much on it but looks good keeping a eye out for it

Why good demo always short

I always love me a good historical themed IF And this one is proving really promising. I love the extremely large variety of options for customization even if the images didn’t load for me. And any opportunity to use an M1911 as my weapon is one that immediately makes my experience better.

I like the freedom you provide in naming of units, not just for lore and customization but for legibility, which given the theme of the Russian Civil war and the heavy focus you give on staying authentic in regards to names is much appreciated.

Although it is too short for me to give proper detailed feedback. The writing I have seen thus far is extremely promising and in regards to the tactical and strategic aspect, seems like it would be quite a lovely experience. A peeve of mine was always outcomes that seem a little nonsensical in military games, mostly due to coding and the tactics themselves not being a heavy focus. But I feel like I will adore actually managing my army and units here.

Best of luck in your writing and may you make great progress.

This is awesome! I love the concept, I love how MC can be stone cold or just a straight up violent maniac, and I’m excited to see where the story goes! Can’t wait to see more!

Edit: Although one thing I’m curious about, shouldn’t there be more reactions to MC coming back from the dead, especially if they died in a public way? I know that MC probably wasn’t that much of a public figure, but someone coming back after seemingly being killed violenty should probably produce more reactions of shock and fear. I feel like MC’s survival is the sort of thing the loyalists will use for notoriety.

It’s a fact and I have the diagnoses to prove it lol
I only mentioned it as a disclaimer since I can’t for the life of me figure out what people find appropriate, so I want them to know the story’s not meant to be super edgy, it just coincidentally is because I’m using it for a bit of trauma therapy. But if there’s something really offensive in there I’d want to be told about it and remove it, because that’s not the goal.

Also, sorry to everyone for the demo being short; in my defense, it’s ~29k words (without all the menus and code obviously), which isn’t that short for an initial demo, it’s just that all the scene variations eat up most of the wordcount ;_;
