Well, I finished playing it. I liked it. Just a few things.
1. I wished it was longer and there were more content like for example, an event where if you go on the mission to kill the Wyvern and you succeed, an egg will be detected and you can decide to destroy it, bag it and sell it to someone else to improve your relationship with that kingdom or hatch it and raise it as a pet and mount. And where spending time with someone shouldn’t take a WHOLE WEEK! That makes no sense.
2. I also wish there was a event where when you get the dragon gem and you get an option to either have your MC (if you’re a historian) or someone else to analyze the gem and unlock some of it’s power to where you can become half dragon and unlocking the full power of the gem or using it early somehow gives you the power to transform into a full dragon anytime you want, which can open up the story even further for more interaction with the other kingdoms, new enemies that are hostile to dragons specifically, becoming independent faster if you wanted to with even more new events, learning and practicing your new draconic powers and even deciding on a build for it because of the different types of powers you can select and focus on and more. I ended up not marrying anyone though since I was spending time building stuffs and near the end was focusing on unlocking the power of the dragon gem so I ended up alone. Kinda sad.
Thanks for the comments. Those are some interesting ideas - I might try to flesh out the sidequests more in the next update.
Regarding spending time with a companion taking a full week - the idea behind it was that as Ardent, you have a busy schedule and limited time to go around. You might be able to budget some time to accompany your sister to the Gaming Expo, but that might come at the expense of spending time to fix the broken chair in your kitchen. I had originally considered making spending time with a companion separate from the other actions - but later decided that putting everything together made the planning aspect more challenging and interesting.
I’m still getting quite a bit of mixed feedback on the city management (and companion time), so I might need more time to consolidate responses before figuring out how to modify this system, if needed.
Wow, a week passed and I didn’t check until now. I think I will ask you if the previous offer still stands, because in that case I would like to read your work. Is there anything you want me o focus on when testing the game, just in case?
Take care and good week to you (almost weekend I guess)
In the stats menu, it doesn’t show my relationships. Which I really like to see in games, especially ones with romance.
I know we have the save states, but I would kinda like to have the save states where you can save and load anywhere. I like to try EVERYTHING. And it kinda sucks to have to go all the way back to the city to load.
My door is still open. Did you PM me? I did receive a ton of them so it’s hard to keep track, but I’ve just reached out to you.
If anyone had attempted to PM me and received no reply within 48 hours, try reaching out to me again. I might have missed your message. Sorry!
Thanks. Just regarding the points.
I’ll add this in the next revision.
I’m looking into the save plugin for choicescript. I was iffy about using unofficial mods, but I’ll take a look. Does anyone have any quick links to the latest version of the plugin?
Sorry, that’s not an option. I was considering the idea (honest!) when writing the game, however. I might add it in the next revision… depending on feedback.
EDIT: I just did a quick crash course on the save plugin, and enabled the option for the game. I THINK it should work now, if anyone is trying out the game, let me know.
I just messaged you guys. As always, please initiate the PM if you want the link fast.
If you have any feedback or questions, you can reply in the PM or post them in the thread.
Only the four main companions can be romanced. Princess Bridget was also supposed to be a romance option in the earlier drafts, if you were still single near the end of the game, but I didn’t go through with the idea in the end. I might add this in the next revision if I see more interest.
I was targeting a Victorian era steampunk setting.
Ok, folks. I’ve been busy playing cyberpunk now that the 2.0 patch is out, so progress was slow. Anyway, I’m working on the next revision, which I’m hoping to release around mid or late Dec.
My door is still open if you want the link. Bear in mind that the revised version is not done yet.
List of Changes (Major):
Difficulty levels
God Mode - Start with an excesssively large number of troops and resources, some achievements will be disabled
Easy - Standard troops and resources - basically what you’ve been playing now
Hard - Standard troops and resources - but certain city targets must be met or you will be dismissed from your postion
Brutal - Reduced troops and resources, city stat penalties, city targets must be met or you will be dismissed
Two new buildings will be added. These will be money sinks with stronger benefits
Princess Bridget will be added as a romance option. I have finished writing out some of her scenes.
List of Changes (Minor):
Companion relationships and romances will be shown on the stat menu.
Building costs will be shown at a higher level
Adjustments will be made to city stats and management.
There have been suggestions for random events and city battles, which I think are very good suggestions, but I’m not sure if I’ll be implementing them as it might take quite a bit of work. (I’m also avoiding adding more battles as too many of them could make the entire thing tedious). Depending on my energy levels, I suppose. There’s still a long way to the comp.
