Hi! Thank you so much for playing through the current demo of Deux à Deux. I’ve been dying to have a draft “live” for ages, so it’s super exciting to finally have a demo up again  Any and all feedback is appreciated—good, bad, or anything in between! If you prefer just to read as the project goes along, though, that’s greatly appreciated as well.

Finally, if you want to be a huge help to me, please screenshot (or copy & paste) the following stats and send them to me. You can reach me on the Choice of Games forum (@raywilson), or via email (raywrites02@gmail.com).

Could you possibly put up a romance tab? I thought it was like siblings who you got to choose from. Not a couple wanting a third.

sure i’ll add that!! sorry for the confusion, i imagine that was a jarring realization, lol.

edit: added!

Eh, that’s what they want. My mc wants to romance Noah alone, so I guess we’ll see how that goes.

So are the Lyons a poly romance or are they just a open relationship?

hello!! :black_heart: happy almost-end-of-november. typing that is crazy—time FLEW by this month!

since it’s been around 2 weeks since the release of the current demo, i wanted to pop in and give the (minor) updates i have as of today.

  1. i am almost done now with the ‘code skeleton’ for chapter 2! just a matter of expanding some sections i threw in as barebones code (adding choices to long scenes, etc) and finalizing how the chapter’s branches will conclude. i anticipate around the middle to end of next week that i will begin writing the actual prose.
  2. i have written out and coded a ‘jump to chapter 2’ option which will appear before any other game content when chapter 2 is released. it includes setting the typical personalization variables (appearance, gender of PC and ROs, name/nickname) and the important branching/flagged variable choices. i’ll refine this over time, of course, but it’s a good starting point so players can ‘jump’ to new content if they choose.

i was going to make a third point, but i honestly think that’s all i have to report. oh, and thank you all for your stats screenshots and comments/feedback! the reception of the prologue and chapter 1 was so positive and generally got way more engagement than i expected, so i had a really fun couple of weeks hearing from all of you who have read up to this point :slightly_smiling_face:

Hello,

I read your demo from the December Writer’s thread. I really enjoyed what you have so far! The American Psycho moment made me laugh, and I feel like I’m picking up on a tension in the world that makes the game feel grounded rather than fluffy. You also did great at capturing the soul of working in the service industry! Looking forward to reading more and here are my stats as well:

you just made my night. what a huge set of compliments, thank you so so much!!! also the ‘american psycho’ line is one of my favorites AHHAAH. it took me so much tweaking to get it crisp enough to where i was happy keeping it in. for whatever reason, sometimes the short funny lines like that feel like they need more editing than other, more ’serious’ stuff :face_with_spiral_eyes: hahaha!

i am SOOO glad you sense a tension in the world. there definitely is one—or really several working against each other at once. and i’m glad the service industry vibes are right!! i came back to this project after working as a bartender for 7 months. i definitely did not have the spine for that job, lol. still, i do love the service industry as much as i hate it. don’t we all?

thanks for ur kind words and stats
