Cyberpolice (Minor Update: 9th of November 2024) (WIP)

No update today.

Deadline for current update: Varies. January, in small parts.

Most of my free time spent on doing various stuff that needed doing after being away for a month. :stuck_out_tongue:

Still, I did put in a bit work just to get to the habit of working on my desktop computer once more. Should be able to work properly tomorrow or at the very least the day after.

Still some stuff to do before I can work properly. Again, minor work done to make a desktop routine again. I’d imagine Saturday will be when I get a decent amount done.

Alright, caught up to date with normal life. Tomorrow work continues for real.

Okay progress. Honestly, I should probably work on my laptop in some other room to see if I get more done, even though it’s a bit harder in many ways. At least that way I’d be more likely to focus on working than distractions. :stuck_out_tongue:

Then again, since I’m home I can always lose to temptation by taking a few steps. While I was away it wasn’t quite so easy.

Not quite yet at the level of productivity of December, but it’s getting there. Should finish the final adjustments next week. Glad I postponed it, since it really would’ve been annoying to cut corners back then just to push it out. After all, it should be in the best shape possible since I’ll use it as a template for the other 3 if it’s good. And if it isn’t, I should get good feedback when it’s as complete as possible.

Made some good progress on more “romantic”(maybe?) parts/variations for those who’re interested in that angle. Not exactly easy for Mari, and I did have to do some extra research, but it might be worthwhile.(although parts of it will be spread throughout the work, rather than just here, so the full extent will be seen much later when everything’s done. Also, they’ll probably be rather hard to access in the final version. We’ll see.).

Not too much time today, but managed to finish one of the parts I originally intended to cut corners on.

Decent progress. Should be ready this week from how it looks, but it’s always hard to say for sure.

Good enough progress. Each day I manage to work a bit longer. Hopefully I will eventually reach the workflow I had in December.

Slept terribly as I sometimes do. No work.

Finished another of the “cut corners” parts, and made fair progress on the final one left. Not entirely sure I can get it done tomorrow, though. Let’s be safe and say that I won’t. Won’t be long now, though.

Not yet. Was too lazy and gave in to temptation. :frowning:

I’d love to say tomorrow, but perhaps not.

Got a good amount of work done, probably due to the shame of not doing much yesterday. :stuck_out_tongue:

Still, there’s a bunch left. Again, probably not tomorrow.

Hope that doesn’t become my new phrase.

Deadline for current update: This Saturday
Deadline for the rest in this segment: Varies. January, Ferbruary, in small parts.

Alright, I’m putting a definite deadline for the update now. Didn’t get much useful stuff done today, and it pisses me off. Without the pressure of a visible deadline date I get lazy, and worse, tend to bloat unnecessary stuff instead of finishing what I should. Sure, the surplus stuff might be neat, but I really need to start getting scenes and segments done instead of vaguely working on them in some capacity that actually increases the workload due to more unfinished parts popping out of nowhere. :stuck_out_tongue:

As such, it’ll get done by this Saturday, latest. It’s a very generous deadline considering what I need to do and I’ll be very disappointed and angry at myself if I don’t make it. Honestly, I should’ve gotten this finished over a week ago. Not getting much done every other day is really not great for progress or a proper routine.

If I’m going to finish Cyberpolice this year, I have to start working for real starting right away instead of some faraway future date. I can always add more “bonus” stuff later to various scenes if I need to, but getting them done is priority number one now(as it should have been all along, but that’s clearly not been the case, has it now?).

Anyway, just whipping myself to get stuff done, as I sometimes need to. (it may seem I’m harsh on myself to an outside observer, but that’s only because you never see me slacking off instead of writing on a daily basis. I’m VERY compassionate to myself by allowing all kinds of diversions to take the reins on a regular basis. )

If Carrington wins at the pool game a possible loss condition is for us to do her paperwork. Having the paperwork skill allows us to note it’s not really a bother for us. Between this scene and how it’s portrayed in popular media filling out paperwork seems pretty unpopular. Perhaps paperwork skills could unlock the option to offer help to others with otherwise unrelated paperwork issues to get their aid/favour?

The young man boggles at your request. “Wha-No-I-Are you mad?! There’s no way I can let you in. Even if Chief Gilles himself did not expressively forbid anyone from going through this door, it is my entire job to keep people out side this roo-”

“Tax season is coming up and I’ve been around long enough that we both know just how good I am at working the bureaucracy. I’d be happy to shuffle some sheets for you if you let us peek in-”

The words are scarcely out your mouth when the youth is already whirling around to punch in the access code to the safe room. When the reinforced steel doors open too slowly for his liking, he tears one from its frame and hurls it down the hallway, obliterating the alarms, annihilating the security turrets, and rendering what you feverently hope is a very humanoid security robot to a large blot on the wall. “After you, sirs and ma’am’s,” he says without the slightest hint of sarcasm.

You didn’t know he was augmented.

[He isn’t.]

Excellent suggestion. The use of paperwork as a sort of “stealth entry” skill is something I’d never have thought of. An active way of using it like that is very good, as opposed to the passive way I usually portray it as. To exchange your services for other services is a fun spin on it for sure. I’ve made a note of it for future use. Thanks.

Also, I’m impressed you’ve been reading those really old posts too. Must be a real chore given that I post some nonsense on a daily basis.

Well i was advised to lurk around before posting when I signed up. And truth be told, if I didn’t like to read, text based games probably wouldn’t be the best genre for me, no? :kissing:

I’m curious as to what Stillwater(and the other cast members) would think of the Payday 2 universe if taken at face value.

Cloaker: “THIS IS WHAT WE CALL A DIFFICULTY TWEAK!” Triple backflips over 4 tables and a counter to dropkick a heister

Stillwater: "Well he’s certainly spirited. High morale is good, always important. "

Cloaker: “THE SAFE WORD IS - P O L I C E B R U T A L I T Y” Commences violence on downed heister

Stillwater: “Ah…getting a touch excessive there. Hm. Is this the normal standard around here?”

Stillwater: Watches the other three clowns gun down a small county’s population worth of police officers on their way out “…Or perhaps not excessive enough. I think back in Neo Terminus we’d prepare to call in the-wait, was the alarm only triggered after the bank robber carrying in a minigun while wearing a ballistic vest put on his mask?”

Deadline for current update: Partial update tomorrow
Deadline for the rest in this segment: Varies. January, February, in small parts.

Alright, the deadline certainly helped a lot in finalizing things, but not enough to force me to work through all distractions. (Dominions 6 getting released recently didn’t help, let me tell you that much :stuck_out_tongue: )

So yeah, I’m quite pissed and disappointed at myself, but hey, what’s new?

In any case, I have almost all non-explicit parts ready(with only minimal corners cut which is great), and I’ll be posting them tomorrow, once I get all of them to their final state. (20-30k total, depends what I include in the end. Some of the non-explicit parts are tied to the explicit parts in such a way that I’ll probably allow them only if you’ve chosen that particular level of censureship, due to “adult dialogue” in it(meaning, not tomorrow for those parts). Anyway, lots of new detailed “romance” stuff)

The explicit parts need more fine-tuning, plus they’re much more anxiety inducing to post so I’m avoiding doing it for as long as I can. (equally massive in size or even wordier, but in a very different way)

Therefore, the update I’m posting tomorrow includes a lot of new stuff, but lacks the “sex-scene” so to speak. Which is fine, since I’ll need to make a new thread on the adult forum for the explicit stuff anyway, so posting the rest before-hand should be fine. I’ll make separate polls as to the quality of each version, and having them on separate posts will hopefully make it less confusing, rather than more. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll be re-using a LOT of the explicit stuff for the other 3 one night stands, with the appropriate changes of course, so I want them to be in good shape(plus that way it won’t feel so crazy how long they are word wise, since they’ll be recycled). It’ll be ready some time next week. Hard to say when due to general busyness of life.

It’s good advice, and I certainly appreciate your feedback even for such old posts.

Whether you like to read in-game “entertainment”-text is very different from reading my forum ramblings, I’d imagine. Liking one doesn’t mean you have to like the other.

As for the Payday 2 scenario, funny you should mention it, since that’s how the city was before the Designer Soldiers came to bring order into chaos, that decade or so ago. Well, not quite as bad as in that game, since as you so well put it, a few bank robbers killing a small county’s population worth of police officers is rather absurd, even for a shooty-game.

If it happened in the time the current case takes place, Stillwater would finally get a reason to use those tanks lying in the basement of the police headquarters. I’m sure Chief Chaska would be happy enough to order their use in that situation.

That, or a wall-penetrating sniper shot to the head of one of our masked criminals.

A somewhat similar scenario might happen at one point in the game(depends on your choices, etc). Hopefully you’ll see sometime this year.
