College Tennis: Origin Story (WIP) - Updated 8 Jun '25 [968k words]

Maybe it’d help if positions where mentioned? Cowgirl, doggy, whatev. It’d be cool if the MC had the option to be more dominant/assertive in scenes. Prolly a lot of work to that though. Way too many diff preferences to cater to.

I see a limited critique-en-trende leaning into a potential equivalency of, perhaps and take much salt with this assumption:

Initimacy : Explicitness

Which, okay, can be a natural progression, but not exactly vice versa.

The intimate scenes between the characters feel exactly as emotionally weighty as they need to given their general gravitas of unspoken romantic feelings between two extremely awkward young adults who have been best of friends for a little over a decade. They won’t be as experienced as perhaps a more experienced audience expects them to be in the narrative, because, of course they won’t be.

It is prosaic. It is narrative. It is rhetorical.

It still feels like romance to me, ya know?

I don’t expect the narrative every time to be written out as:

X-person enters room, and Y-person sees them. One calls the other an idiot. The other says, “Probably.” Then they kiss like the idiots they are, doing all the idiot explicit things they have been fantasizing about one another since they met one another.

And you know, as nice as it is, the romance is only a small part of the game. Tennis is in the title, you have all your friendships, hobbies, classes, etc etc.

Detailed/graphic intimacy scenes wouldn’t seem to match the vibe set up by everything else, compared to what is present now. Would give it more attention then it probably needs.

Course I could always be off my rocker, but I figure we don’t need to know the dang positions in our Tennis game - lest those positions be on the court!

Ugh, Genevieve and Sam are both so goooooooooooooood. It’s maddening to choose between the two of them.

I wish there was a way to actually romance them at the same time…

Well… there is option to suggest to Sam the possibility of seeing other people

(but the question is, do you have it in you to subject Sam to it)

In fact, in my playthrough I simply set Genevieve as female and our friend as male. So I kind of ignored our friend.

Where was this option? I never saw it.

Good work as always! So i chose to kiss and kind of date Sam, then i date Tobin since Sam was far away and now Tobin find out and broke up with me. If this aren’t the consequences of my own actions.  Also i tried romancing Rayyan and i was surprised how well he is doing in the relationship. I thought he’ll be cold or not much in those relationship thing at all. (That scene with him fixing a shelf is funny!)

It can pop up on Saturday night, when discussing sleeping arrangements (and Sam’s feelings), provided you aren’t dating Sam already and depending on your MC’s romantic attachment levels to people.

There is an error in the quarterfinal match where in the first set it says that in the seventh game I would be losing 4x3 but in fact it would not be 5x2. Since I lost the first two, I won the third.

I lost the fourth and fifth and won the sixth. That would be 4x2.

Uhh, which match do you mean by the quarterfinal?

The match the coach comes to watch us. The youth tournament.

Ahh, i see. Yeah, i guess it should be MC taking that seventh game not Rayyan, given the crowd reaction, and the fact that’d make the score 3-4 like stated.

Geneviève snorts. “What makes you think my statement has anything to do with you, Johnson?” He asks, playfully. Then, a beat passes, and she turns serious. “There are so many things I want to do here.”

It’s her who’s wrong, not him.
This is in the part after that flag game at orientation. I think it’s her answer after the character asks her that she’s in love with him.

I think my post was confusing. What I was trying to say is that Genevieve’s pronoun is wrong.

HAHHA. Absolutely. Honestly more impressive than any of the achievements currently :stuck_out_tongue:

I actually kinda agree- something gives me the feeling Rayyan wouldn’t give two hoots about Halloween… and hence be coerced by Tobin or the team into cobbling together a half-assed costume.

 :smirk:

Got it, thanks! Fixed!

Ah got it! Have edited the ‘skip to new feature’ function on my offline files, will update it with the next batch of edits/chapter updates, hopefully in a couple days or two!

@ChairmanMeow - Hmm, interesting, thanks for the feedback; I’m inclined toward including less information/details in the scene and making clear that there are time-skips/not EVERY single movement/action may have been detailed/mentioned then, to make it slightly more fitting regardless of the variations of gender involved… rather than writing a gabijillion different texts for the scene because I think a lot of different people would have other subjective opinions about how/what details should go in. Will see how to improve the scene, but thank you for the feedback and the details! Will put it in the backlog and see when to tackle the issue

Aww, this is really cute! I’m actually done with the G-only scene, and am quite pleased with how it turned out! Now writing the halloween scenes and should have something sizeable to update by the end of the month before turning over to Merry Crisis!

@herikkkkk HAHAH. This is so on point.

The skull says everything. HAHA. Can’t wait to release the ‘aftermath’ scenes! Where MC talks to Rayyan, Tobin, G etc.! Still need some eyes to go over it to make sure the continuity makes sense and it isn’t repeating some of the convos in the earlier chapter at the party (for Rayyan and Tobin), but I’m done with the writing, and some possible routes are a little angsty!

@Auron801 This is really helpful, thank you!

Hehe, glad to hear!! And,… @fsix Yeah, exactly this. Ive still yet to write in G’s perspective properly on that part of the deal/conversation though. Or Sam’s reply after thinking about it.

True, I think Rayyan’s not terrible at relationships, it’s just how damn quickly they might drop the relationship when asked to choose between the relationship & tennis, or the relationship & family.

Also, glad you liked the shelf scene haha, it was a late addition that I kinda personally enjoyed writing.

@Carloshmc2812 Yep, will update and edit this in the next batch of bug fixes! Shout-out to @fsix also for the super invaluable help in combing through all the code and fixing these niggling errors, thank you thank you! T.T
