College Tennis: Origin Story (WIP) - Updated 28 May 2026 [1.14m words]

Before starting this story, I was reading a series of narratives that didn’t particularly captivate me with their characters and events. However, this story grabbed me and kept me engaged. The captivating characters, the competitive games, the true personalities of the characters, their tasks, and tennis itself won me over from the start. Before this story, I had never been interested in tennis or anything related to it. Now, after reading it, I realize how intriguing this sport can be, and wow! What incredible games the protagonist played! At first, I really wanted to dedicate myself to a relationship with my best friend, but when I arrived at university, I met the French exchange student and quickly became interested in getting to know that sarcastic guy better. I had good interactions and relationships with my teammates, but nothing distracted me from the French exchange student. I wish more achievements related to him were added, just a suggestion, haha. I should also say that, at this point in the story, I’m wondering if he’ll want a serious relationship or if he’ll continue to string me along, haha. Your writing is good and captivating, and although I chose to skip some scenes that I found a bit drawn out, overall, you’re doing very well and I’m sure I’ll be following you in future updates.

Loved the update. Though I gotta say, the fact that MC’s mother has canonically directed a film with Jackie Chan in it is so funny to me for some reason.

There’s so much love put into this game, I adore it!

Best way to save is at the start of a chapter. Generally.

So I tried a playthrough where at first MC had crush with Sam then when MC went to college and met G, MC world got flipped and fallen hard for G.

So when Sam admitted to fall in love with MC is heart wrenching moment for me. I will never play this path again

I am so confuse, like why were you trying to catch em all, if you just wanted stay with one romance interest

Is it so bad if I’m trying another path?

This might be the first Choice of Game that made me abandon a playthrough because choosing my MC’s love interest feels impossible. Why are they all so good, bruh?

Oh no no, I think you mistook my meaning, it seemed to me as if you were trying for a poly route then now deciding for only one when you finally figure what you want, no judgement, only facts that were observed and can sympatise because that is what I did, my comrade but for me I went for the french, couldn’t resist her orange juice making skills

Ah it’s okay I’m not an english native speaker so sometimes it’s hard for me to interpret sentences

Love this author’s work and I hope their are more authors who explore sports genre. It’s really the only genre where stats is king and I love stats.

Finally got time to play this one again. The new scenes with Sammy are so good. :hugs:  Also reveals something else, the mc or at least mine really is a super-dense brat when it comes to romance because apparently everybody noticed before Sam and MC did and of course poor Sammy noticed at least a couple of years before mc ever did. Although it does fit for my mc who is nearly as tennis-obsessed as Rayyan is.

On a national double with Rayyan against Sanderson and Malik. On second paragraph after the “Get the timing and contact just-right. I’ve brushed up on my technique these past couple of weeks at Cargill, and the improvements show.” Second paragraph. It misnamed Pan instead of Sanderson or Malik. I can’t post the screenshot because I’m not “trustworthy” enough. So you’ll have to content with my Glorious Description.

Nvm, just got promoted. Here’s the Screenshot. On the second paragraph there.

@Leon_Kincoln Ah thank you! I love sports IFs too and definitely hope to play more of them!

@idonotlikeusernames Aww so glad to hear you’re still enjoying the game and that you enjoyed the latest Sam scenes! I do think oblivious MC-Sam seem to be one of the most beloved playthroughs!

@Lordth Thanks! I’ve fixed it, and will push it in the next update!

Update #15 Release Dates

I have great news! :star_struck: The next CT:OS update is almost ready (I’m just polishing/editing based on beta-tester feedback).

Features

  • Finals week preparation :books:
    • Midnight pancakes / All-nighter :pancakes:
    • Exam results for fall semester :100:
  • Christmas with Sam :christmas_tree:
  • Winter break visit with G, Tobin, or Rayyan :snowflake:
  • Popping by to see your mother/D in NYC :cookie:

It’s ~69k words (though lots of this is mutually exclusive branching—particularly the winter break visits), so you’ll probably have about 25-30k words in a single play through.

This update sets us up for spring semester, and officially concludes the first half of the overall arc of MC’s first year in college.

As always, really excited to hear what you guys think!

Release dates:

  • Early release for ko-fi/patreon supporters: ~Aug 14
  • Public release: ~Aug 28

Thank you all again for all the support and love you’ve shown the game :revolving_hearts:

And also the last match of the fall semester then?

Really curious to see what you do with the spring semester, I’m assuming a lot of the academic and class stuff can take a little bit of a step back now if only because more of it seems like it’s gonna be a retry of what we’ve already had unless you have new stuff for that too. And also a more condensed timeframe? I’m just spitball in here

In “3-2_finalchallengematch.txt”, there are only two instances where you can do your readings before reaching:

*if readings = 0

*set intelligence + 1

Since readings starts at 3, it’s impossible to reach readings = 0. I think it’s because the code is flipped:

*if readings = 0

*set intelligence + 1

*if intelligence > 25

*set readings - 1

*set class_performance + (1 - readings)

I feel like intelligence > 25 should go before readings = 0, because there’s no reason to reduce your readings after it has already been checked (other than class performance).
