Choice of Rebels: Stormwright (XoR2 WIP)

Got an better idea, create an karagond rump state led by the mages who allied with you. Just wanna see them decend from 1-8 world overnight.

Not sure if Olynna exists in every version of game one, but at least in the one she does her thought crime of understanding compassion by its dictionary definition rather than as a synonym for obedience is enough to beam Zebed in to purge heresy from Rim Square.

I think the Rim was being setup for a youthful rebellion and a fourth harrowing so maybe putting extra squeeze on was all part of the plan, but it seems like Irduin’s version of the the Hegemony’s order is much more “off-nominal.” I know we may not get a clear cut explanation as to how Ulmey is avoiding Olynna’s fate, but it does have me squinting even before I have read it.

It’s also basically a personal vendetta. Zebed is crushing her for not toeing his line - note that she was aggressively prevented from arguing her case and shuffled away. It only works because (as usual) there’s no effective appeal against Zebed any more than the innkeeper got against the Alastor.

(She only exists if you choose her over Carles or Wolfbait.)

Not sure what the other explanation is then for Zebed’s assignment to the Rim, but I think it is fair to say he was an instigator of the Rim Commotion (perhaps unwitting).

God knows what the future generation’s will think.

I expect part of the deal with Zebed is that he has a superior who said “I’m so fucking over dealing with the obnoxious boor Zebed. Is there anywhere we can send him off to and just forget about him?”

Zebed might view his posting as punishment and takes it out on those below him as one might expect for someone like him. Thaumatarchy is definitely not going to be sending their best to the outer rim.

Look, this game allows characters to have a wide variety of views, goals, and plans for the system, some of which are quite evil.

I do however doubt that these games will allow for a full-blown ethnic cleansing. I think it may be difficult to get GOG to allow that to be in a game under their brand.

Then he was just assigned there by the bureaucracy, period. Maybe he pissed off some gay higher up with his interpretation of love and the lower orders that would nonetheless likely have become the new canon had the Hegemony had another century of life or so in it. In any case Zebed is a thoroughly unpleasant fellow so I am not surprised he ends up with an assignment to the ass end of nowhere.

It’s likely to allow massive famine however and I think you can also defnitely de-prioritise the Karagonds on your food distribution ladder. But I also think that is the closest you can maybe get to it. Besides thanks to mr. Devereaux I now know that the worst possible fate for Aekos is having it become this world’s first impoverished (after we loot everything movable and in the case of industry even some things that technically aren’t) tourist trap theme park.

It’s not the thoughtcrime as such that gets Zebed beamed in. It’s her offense to lord Stilos (“false and public attribution of religious error to an aristarch”). As we discussed seven years ago:

If the local noble authority hadn’t ended up at odds with Olynna and requested her replacement with extreme prejudice, she might still have been preaching compassion in Rim Square right up to the Fourth Harrowing. The Archimandrite doesn’t have enough heresy hawks to cover every corner of the continent.

In Irduin, where the priest and Alastor are both happy to preside over a relatively peaceful and remote corner, no one is going to call in the inquisitors…except, perhaps, the newly arrived Erretsin Telone.

I wonder if he’s likely to pull a lever that opens up a flood of magma. Which was not placed there just for him, you understand.

What stat requirements does a tinker need? As it seems we can be the town fletcher ( I might be wrong), would it be COM?

The optimist in me, is hoping to turn Baldassare to help our cause, but the more I read about him, I’m slowly losing hope.

Also regarding Baldassare. If we interact with him, will we have a chance to ask him his opinion on the Rim Commotion, and the death of the Architelone? If we did the Architelone raid.

Looking forward to see how this story develops. Sending out positivity.

Does anyone here has an idea as to why Breden wiuld betray my rebellion?

It can’t be a coincidence that the people in your rebel group won’t fall ill from poisoned food if you kick Breden early.

Only current theory is that she’s a Kryptast, i.e. a spy. One of the things they do is start up fake rebellions to draw in any secret dissidents who would be sympathetic to that sort of thing. Then they round them up and harrow them. Of course, if they actually ARE a spy, they’re a bit in over their head. Those fake dissident circles are supposed to get taken out before they actually DO anything.

I hope she actually ain’t a spy…

Genocidal harrowing is mentioned as an option in the conversation with Horion, who says that it is impractical. However, it can be a suplement of harrowing of whatever group I will decide to harrow mainly, which would decrease the cost by Shayardenes

My running theory is that if they’re a spy the meetings Breden organizes at the start of G1 are their first independent assignment as a kryptast and they kinda messed up the whole mission by growing to attached to the members of the rebellion, either through a romantic entanglement with the MC or by close bonds with Elery and the other unnamed Bredenites in our starting band

In the case of a resistant MC all of the band at the meeting get killed except the one guy i forget his name… bredan is only attached to the MC everyone else is expendable. The only way to even have a chance of saving elery and the rest from the start is to stop the harrowing from happening.

Yeah, it’s telling that the only major move she makes as a spy seems to be the poisoning. Kind of a half-hearted effort tbh. Not sure if she was too conflicted to try anything else or if it was one of those “do just enough sabotage to make my superiors think I’m loyal” thing you see double agents do.

Unfortunatly its not the only thing bredan has done in my belief from what i recall of playing long time ago. That poisoning in the caves was just the most obvious thing there were other things that if i recall correctly happened far more easily than other wise. Hmm which reminds me i should replay it a few times lol
