And hey, that was also the post where I dropped the hint that you’d one day get to speak to the person responsible for sending the assassin who killed Thaumatarch Hera 290-odd years ago. That’s definitely still on the cards.

On the 21st, it was ADA that I shared my intent to leave the identity of the Rim Square traitor(s) ambiguous:

The traitor – if there is a traitor – is always the same person. However, I think we’ll find the intrigue survives just fine, as I don’t intend to tell you who the traitor is. You’ll have plenty of evidence on which to judge (and creative replays should turn up more evidence) but no certainty.

The identity of the Rim Square traitor is not and will definitely not be random. That’s not the kind of story I’m interested in telling here. But when all’s said and done, there should be enough ambiguity to get players through several playthroughs before they’re confident in their interpretation of the evidence.

A decade ago yesterday, I left amusing evidence for posterity of how poorly I can predict which stats will actually be dominant in my finished product:

If you want to try to beat the Phalangites in open battle, you’d better have a COM 2 and the grasp of tactics that comes with it. There’s only so much a charismatic leader or minor Theurge can do in a situation that tactically challenging.
