Tried the game out several months ago – glad to see that there have been several changes since the last draft I tried! I feel like the haughty aristo dialogue options are new, since I don’t recall them existing before. I’m definitely quite happy to see them – it’s always fun to play someone thrust completely out of their element, as an oppressive aristo would when forced to participate in a rebellion.
I’m unsure if this is one of the possible playstyles/paths, but is there a “I don’t necessarily hate the Hegemony, but now that it’s turned against me, wouldn’t it be nice to take it over?” path?
As for the discussions on this page:
– I’m torn. Empire is rather overplayed, but Karagond is significantly more than a mere hegemon. Basileia or Arche are probably too esoteric though, and suffer from not having handy adjectival forms (cf. Imperial or Hegemonic). I personally much rather prefer the sound of Empire as it’s more accurate to me, but Hegemony may well work as something more Hellenic-sounding and certainly something far less common.
– I’d caution against using Greek characters for a comprehension standpoint, unless there was a way to make it an initial option. It’d look pretty nice, but if you start throwing κυρια, Ἀγγελος, ἡγεμονια, και ἀλλοι all over the place, people might get a little confused. Could work for just character names, perhaps? Greek names look nice enough in our Latin alphabet, anyway.
But if you do need help with Greek, I can offer assistance: I’m not shabby with Ancient Greek. In fact, before I read this last page I was going to make a comment about the surnames sounding a bit modern with the -tou endings (as opposed to the gendered surnames common in the Byzantine period – e.g., Skleros/Skleraina, Palaiologos/Palaiologina, Laskaris/Laskarina, etc.)
