Do our intrepid bandits have other weapons beside the arms stat? Is everyone else just assumed to have some variety of farming implement and a bow? Are our bows and pitchforks endless or limited based of some combination of followers, arms, and morale?
Yes – or at least a crude staff or club. “Arms” represents weapons (a) designed primarily for violence to humans and (b) incorporating iron or steel. Not everyone has a bow; runaway helots for the most part use bolas, as few took the risk of practicing archery before the revolt.
Hii, so not to be rude or anything, but could I have just a small reminder when we can expect the new chapter to be posted?
Have a look at my response in post 2150. While I’m not personally offended, you should know that asking for update info is against forum rules and likely to get you flamed.
Indeed, asking such things may excite tits. Then people will need to calm them and no one wants to go through that once more… Especially not our dear Havenstone.
What do you mean flamed
@Generikb just the usual stuff such as people getting mad at you.
@Havenstone I’m going to say that flamed is a poor choice of words here. People shouldn’t be flaming others on the forum, even if it’s in the name of enforcing the rules. (Flag posts people! Flag is the best button ever.) Forum members shouldn’t have to worry about posting for fear of being flamed, and we shouldn’t be encouraging flames as a method of enforcing the rules.
I know it has happened a few times in this thread. Everyone read: FAQ - Choice of Games Forum
Especially the section under “If You See a Problem, Flag It”
Also of note “Don’t keep asking when a game will be released. Usually the author doesn’t know.” Same goes for updates.
Do you think posting a link to the post where you say when things will be updated in the first post of the thread will help? Since now we don’t have the whole new page new link thing? Or even slapping it on the front of the game itself?
Personally, I’m hoping that once you do implement the next large update you’ll change the thread title to let us know.
I know you say
Is that this year or last year or perhaps next year, or just a year?
(Just teasing here).
I really think the guidelines post should be stickied, because it hasn’t been since we switched fora and it’s an important post.
So @Havenstone, here is a quick question. Will you eventually be able to press the old into learning theurgy? Obviously it wouldn’t be as effective as making your younger, more able/healthy individuals work the craft, but I could definitely see a more ruthless MC wanting to take advantage of the perceived leeches of the group. Oh, and I don’t suppose the MC would have heard stories about the Liches of the Undead would they have? What I mean is, would he/she have heard anything about them coming back if a Phylactory isn’t destroid? Of course all the Mc would have heard is stories and wouldn’t know the actual process but the idea of making an empire under the immortal lich king sounds a lil friggin awesome haha.
One last thing, if you are playing a compassionate character, will you have the option to heal the sick/wounded in occupied territories/take prisoners? Possibly set up a prisoner transfer with the empire or ransom back those of importance?
Or even better, a Wizard King with blood oozing from his eyes, ears, and mouth. They shall be known as…The Blood Mage!
And you’re quite right. I don’t want (and didn’t intend) anyone to take that post as justification for responding harshly to newbies and rulebreakers.
Everybody: if you want to remind someone of the rules, resist the urge to tell them so in a post – especially if you can’t maintain a friendly tone while doing it. Just flag it, like FG said, and let your kindly neighborhood mods sort it out. (@Ramidel, I agree it would be helpful to sticky the guidelines).
Yep, when the long-awaited CoReb update comes, the thread title will be amended accordingly (at least for a week or so).
Clearly, “the” year is whichever year I finish it in, cheeky man.
@Lazerith, you’ll be able to teach some people Theurgy; how many are old and how many young remains to be seen. No story your MC has heard or read about the Unquiet Dead says anything about phylacteries or similar soul-holding artifact. I can neither confirm nor deny that you will be able to end the game as an immortal lich emperor.
A path where you use Theurgy primarily for healing the sick and wounded is going to be one critical possibility in Game 2. Ransom is already an option in Game 1, but not (yet) in a particularly merciful sense – kidnapping for ransom, rather than sparing injured enemies.
Why isn’t our MC doing any experimentation with Theurgy in their downtime? So far all that’s done is seat-of-the-pants spellcasting in high-pressure, dangerous situations. They could surely spare some free moments here and there to prick their thumb and practice doing tiny things, learning by trial and error in a place where they can be relatively certain they won’t get shanked.
I don’t think we’ve got much in the way of downtime what with the whole trying to stay alive, keep everybody fed and all of that. We’re currently in survival mode.
It also strikes me as not the sort of thing you want to be experimenting with during a few free moments. That seems extremely dangerous. I can’t imagine our followers would be all too happy with us being quite so reckless with Theurgy. (Or happy with us conducting experiments at all.)
You’d need time to concentrate on it, just as you’ll need time to find a safe place to conduct those experiments and free time is an extremely scarce resource. I’d imagine we’ll have time for the experimentation later, just not yet.
As a worthless side question, do the military units of the Hegemony happen to have any neat banners or other associated symbols? Ones that could potentially be ‘collected’ by our side for use in later celebrations or other demonstrations?
Amazing idea jolly good show sir jolly good show.
@FairyGodfeather: It’s also worth noting that your body has a limited blood supply. In the pre-winter raiding, you only get two safe uses of theurgy; you don’t fully recover in between raids.
I love the effort put in to make some of the storylines as different from each other depending on the choices. Lot of effort put in and it makes the game great. I’m sure this will have immense replay value.
Breden better not be the traitor though lol.
Great game, keep up the good work.
I’m really hoping that Breden is the traitor. Or at least I’m hoping that it’s either Breden or your father. I don’t think any of the others would have the same sort of impact. Not that I’m discounting Havenstone from surprising us in regards to this.
If he is the traitor, that will lead to one memorable argument, especially if that wedding idea gets added…
