Children of the Gods (Important poll #12306)

Here’s the brief entry about the Bearer/Bestower in case you guys wanted the exact words.

It is long known that the power of the Essence is so strong that the body containing it cannot survive long. Most Bearers, after having full control of the Essence, do not make it past their 19th summer solstice. Once the Bearer dies, so does the Bestower (and vice versa), and their sources both go into a deep slumber until they are reincarnated into new hosts.

So it’s pretty rare for that to happen. Hm… Maybe we’re going to see that in the next flashback? Also it would be very interesting to see how the Greek Gods would be a part of the next mythology since it seems as if King Arthur and Salem Witch Trails are pretty close in the poll and both of them has different religions from those in Ancient Greek times.

Gatta say I’m surprised at the amount of votes for Persephone / Hades. I’m seriously invested in seeing how rohie changes up their relationship.

Great point!
Joan of Arc and the Witch Trials especially just scream tragedy to me because there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell that two magical kids come out alive in such magically repressed times.

If that was the case then you can bet that I’ll try my best to get Aeson killed first. He also died first in the Trojan War after getting Achilles pretty angry with him and Hector for killing his cousin.

But if the Bestower dies, the Bearer dies as well. Wouldn’t it make more sense to protect the person whose very existence heavily effects your own chance to live another day?

Yeah but if you asked my MC about Aeson, he’ll say “Screw him.”

And besides, they’re both not in their current reincarnations so obviously their past actions are connected with some influence in their futures so it wouldn’t affect their current reincarnations much.

Edited: And once they gain immortality, it’s quite possible for Aeson to be killed off while the MC stays alive for as long as he/she can until he/she is killed by someone else so it wouldn’t bother my MC that much.

I hope the arthurian flashback wins it would be interesting to see the MC as Arthur and the bestower as mordred plus it’s also kinda fitting how Mordred and Arthur die fighting each other in the battlefield, then you can also use the once and future king legend of Arthur which states that Arthur will return kinda like how the MC gets reborn when he dies. PS also interacting with Merlin would be so awesome and interesting I would wonder if Merlin knew about the Greek gods if the arthurian flashback wins

I’d be far more interested in playing as Lancelot.

I would love to see the MC/King Arthur fighting Aeson/Mordred but unfortunately I don’t think it’s possible since Arthur seems to have been in his late 30’s during that duel while in many Arthurian legends, Mordred is said to have been his son so there’s a huge age difference there. But as Merlin knowing about the Greek Gods, well I wouldn’t put it past him since he was already a famous and knowledgeable wizard but there has been some mentions going around that Merlin was a straight up asshole that may had manipulated Arthur for his own ends.

SOUNDS FAMILIAR HMMMMMMMM.

I’d be more interested in being Arthurs enemy and the one that destroys his lineage…I don’t know why but…I don’t want to be the good guy in the flashbacks.

He would also be a good choice to use to plus there’s not alot known about Lancelots backstory so that would be interesting to read about and it would also make it easier to tweak stuff to make it fit in the Greek gods

I swear to the Gods themselves, if Merlin was just a cover of the traitor god…

flips table over with food and drinks on it I’m gonna lose my freakin’ mind on Olympus.

I think that if Guinevere was the traitor it’d be much more poetic.

I am with him. let Guinevere be the bad guy in this WIP.

Didn’t she have a thing for Lancelot more than she had a thing for Arthur?

In French chivalric romances, Guinevere is the daughter of King Leodegrance, who served Uther Pendragon and was entrusted with the Round Table after Pendragon’s death. In these histories, Leodegrance’s kingdom lies near the Breton city of Carhaise (the modern Carhaix-Plouguer). In the fields to the south and east of Carhaise, Arthur defends Leodegrance by defeating Rience, which leads to his meeting and marriage with Guinevere. This version of the legend has Guinevere betrothed to Arthur early in his career, while he was garnering support. When Lancelot arrives later, she is instantly smitten, and they have an affair that eventually leads to Arthur’s fall.

The Rescue of Guinevere by William Hatherell (1855-1928)
Their affair is exposed by Guinevere’s sorceress enemy Morgan and two of King Lot’s sons, Agravain and Mordred, and Lancelot flees for his life while Arthur reluctantly sentences his wife to be burned at the stake. Knowing Lancelot and his family would try to stop the execution, Arthur sends many of his knights to defend the pyre, though Gawain refuses to participate. Lancelot arrives and rescues the queen. Gawain’s brothers Gaheris and Gareth are killed in the battle, sending Gawain into a rage so great that he pressures Arthur into a direct confrontation with Lancelot.

When Arthur goes to France to fight Lancelot, he leaves Guinevere in the care of Mordred, who plans to marry the queen himself and take Arthur’s throne. In some versions of the tale, Guinevere assents to Mordred’s proposal; in others, she hides in the Tower of London and later takes refuge in a convent. Hearing of the treachery, Arthur returns to Britain and slays Mordred at Camlann, but his wounds are so severe that he is taken to the isle of Avalon by Morgan. Guinevere meets Lancelot one last time, then returns to the convent where she spends the remainder of her life.—Wiki

Yeah it all somehow led to Arthur’s demise at Camlann.

Then your idea to have her as the traitor would perfectly fit with her affair with Lancelot.
