Well, in my MC’s case it’s not that he’s not willing to try to understand the gang’s issues or give them a chance. It’s just that, at least in his case, it feels like in most of the interactions with the whole group my MC is inviting himself or is just a tag along.
The first lunch scene in particular; the MC is new there and only knows those 3 and they don’t even try to inviting them to their table. That’s kinda cold, man.
Calypso at least invited the MC to sit besides her in class, that was really nice of her. She’s probably my MC’s favourite person in Olympus right now.
Yes, she is the only one who’s made much of an effort to get to know us. At first Saint was all best buds but after that first meeting with Athena he’s all distant and closed off.
Calypso is Ares daughter she is the most aggressive in the capture , yet here seems most friendly even if you are an ass. That’s her daddy doing for sure .
It sure is fun to see how everyone’s developing their own opinions on each of the characters
I feel like inviting Calypso to sit with the MC during class had really nice symmetry to when she asked my MC to sit with her on his first day of class
As for the other members of the “Scooby Gang”, I still wonder why Saint has been so cool lately. Adonis is pretty chill so I’m cool with him (and he can teach my MC how to make his own equipment. +5 Blacksmithing get). Aeson is still a tough read. Although my Lavei enjoyed the adventures he’s had, dodging hunters and talking monsters down, he can’t help but feel a tiny bit jealous of the adulation given to Aeson. He’s also a bit more pragmatic so he sees the showy theatrics as a bit unnecessary (The sword during the ceremony definitely wasn’t necessary. Was Hades’s obsidian dagger not good enough?)
As for the gods, the fact that Daddy Sea-Legs expects little of my MC is pretty great since he hasn’t done much for Lavei til this point (a much easier pill to swallow than Zeus’s “I expect everything and more” and Hades’s “Nothing and everything.” What is that even?). Poseidon gets a nice silver star for that and for how poetic he was when he described Priscilla. Athena is still Lavei’s mother figure, complete with scolding him after he accidentally ditches class cause of the bug. As for Hades…I’m actually not as certain with him. Can’t help but wonder if he cared so much about Lavei as a kid because he wanted to keep Aeson safe or what.
Things just got a lot more complicated…
Also, my Altair Angelis chose to base his powers on hope and his body felt “electric”. That’s a dangerous and potent trait for a son of Poseidon (I also imagine him as a member of the Blue Lantern Corps now)
@rohie Speaking of magic, does the type of magic we choose to use actually changes anything? What is the actual difference between light/dark/shadow magic?
Because it’s difficult to keep things as historically accurate as possible. Greek myths have thousands of different sources, not always reliable, so I try to do research to stay as straight and narrow as I can. It’s a simple writing error that Achilles wasn’t mentioned before; but I wanted you at the wedding for plot, so it was left out. The MC wouldn’t have aged past 18, so I had to find a way to incorporate you into the plot without changing major things…and Achilles’ mother did dress him up as a woman after putting him in the river Styx, that part I didn’t make up. And why wouldn’t he be in the war? He was a main player.
Sorry Unce Henry! …Well, not so sorry after knowing that caring for MC was probably strongly influenced by the death pact they have with Aeson.
Hades cares for both of you, his feelings toward you aren’t tied into him being Aeson’s father. Gah, I don’t even know how to explain it…okay well:
When I decided I wouldn’t take the tradition route with Hades being all foreboding and evil, I decided that I’d have to go all out. So, in my game, Hades is someone very similar to your MC. It’s not just the isolation or the loneliness that your MC might feel, but it’s just the way you were brought up. Hades at first felt pity toward you, but then when he raised you with Athena (yes, because of the thing between them) he saw someone who wasn’t that different from him. Hades is isolated from the other Olympians because he is the King of the Underworld, and people will always have their prenotions about him because of that; they fear his power and what he could do with it. This is the way people see you, and Hades recognizes that. He can resonate with it.
To say that Hades cares more about Aeson than the MC would be…a stretch. It’s like comparing his love for Athena to his love for Persephone (and Priscilla, if he’s your father). It’s impossible. I will tell you this, though; he doesn’t worry about Aeson as much as he worries about you, and he has good reason to. No offence, but your MC’s are depressing as hell. (For good reason)
As for the scooby gang: I can’t tell you how everyone really feels about you due to spoilers and what not, but there’ll be an option to at least talk with Calypso about things during the first trial. (Though after reading about how you all feel, I’m inclined to write a scene where all of this is addressed. It will be interesting. And probably dramatic.)
And Aeson; I get the jealously; I crossed my fingers and hoped you’d all be jealous. So, thank you! There will be a time to reflect on how you feel toward him, and even confront him. You can hate him or not mind him or love him; each one is interesting and won’t take away from the game.
It’s cosmetic. How you choose to use your magic is what really influences the plot. Basically I did it to give your magic a color/aura when you use it.
Oooh yes, I was thinking about whether Hades cared about MC because he wanted Aeson safe. Headcanonly as of now, he wanted to be close to MC to protect Aeson but then grew to love them as his own (more so if he’s the dad – like all the conflicting feelings please) --> but considering Rohie’s post, this probably’s out the window
My own interpretation though of “everything and nothing” is that he knows he has no right to expect anything out of MC but he’s clutching onto hope I guess. More so if the relationship affinity bar thing is really high – I forgot what the 70% mark was but I remember it was something like “you’re his hero” or something to that effect
In speaking of Poseidon, I just wanna make him and MC make up for lost time. And I do want to see him with a protective dad scene.
like what Hades did when Athena barged in on him and MC
It must be a really complicated thing between them since Athena does not seem stoked to find out Hades is the dad (for the Hades kids out there), whereas she basically jumps for joy when she learns its Poseidon. And man, your description of Hades is so understandable… Poor guy. I kinda want him to be…no! I’m set on Poseidon!
@squarelyblue well we know what Rohie want’s Hades to be like but our MCs don’t. Altair will keep on wondering/doubting about Uncle Henry until he’s told otherwise.
Also, I kinda wish we have the option to say that our MC can’t swim. I can just imagine bringing that up to Poseidon and Hades laughing his head off in the background
But what is that thing between them? Because I can’t determine if it is love or hatred!
Especially if Hades is your father. Athena seems so shocked! And why does Hades feels the need to suddenly be protective of you, and litteraly shield you from Athena who raised you?
So much suspicion…
You should do it! I would love to have more insight about how the people around us feel about the MC! It could be through conversation or through one of those foretelling dream we’ve had!
My character just wants to make friends and not be a neglected puppy anymore. They don’t care for the war yet, but they do know that if anyone messes with their friends. They’ll become a nice lizard.
This is…this is actually a ridiculously cute idea? Imagine Poseidon trying to teach MC how to swim and Hades buying them floaters with cute and/or embarrassing prints.
Also Saint and co would have a field day laughing at MC :)) (MC will never live it down)
@Nyxerie personal theory of mine is that while Hades might’ve agreed with Athena (at least in stealing MC away – more so if they’re his kid) at first and whatever connection they had lasted for a while, but then…maybe she became obsessive in a smothering maternal way? She seems to be a very…hovering sort of parent.
(though given the circumstances, it’s well within reason)
And then something major happens that allows their falling out. Probably something to do with MC, given their dialogues so far – teeth clenched teamwork at this point perhaps?
Also given what she says to you if you kill the Seeker/what she says to Hades when you sort of eavesdrop on their convo/what Saint and everyone else says about her, there’s definitely a hidden agenda that she’s not telling us.
Well, I am in Love with all your Laveis…I just…am. The pain is all too palpable.
Currently dreaming a scene akin to the Temptation of Christ where Lavei is lured during a particularly desperate and tempestuous moment and my MC is no Jesus.
“You tried to kill me.”
“You are strong. I see you. I always have.”
“But their eyes…”
“Made blind so that you would see.”
“See what?”
“They need you vulnerable. They need you to believe that. They do not love you, they need you, as one needs a tool. They discarded you on an empty shelf in an empty room until they decided how to use you. For how could one love a hammer?”
“But am I also not the arm that wields it? I am alive and I feel.”
“And you are life and you are beautiful. And yet you long to belong. You don’t need them. You are better than them and they know it, but will they let you feel it? No. Because then your light would pierce that mountain of smoke.”
“And am I your tool as well?”
“You are my hopes and dreams. My ally against those who would oppress you to tame you. I see you, child, I always have.”
“I’m listening…”
I’m dreaming of a similar dilemma where instead of offering something/tempting them, big bad exploits her desire to be loved by feeding on that insecurity. Kinda like:
BB: Are you sure they love you? Aren’t you just a tool for the war? Something to be used and discarded?
MC: That’s not true! My father loves me! I have friends, and Aunt Alice and—
BB: “Aunt Alice” lied to you for 17 years and continues to do so. You don’t think she is keeping secrets?
MC: …
BB: Your friends hunted you down and should the gods desire it, they would kill you by their command.
MC: THAT’S A LIE! THEY–
BB: They would and you know it. When was an order by a god refused? Look at your father. Do you think that he really cared? He removed you from your mother didn’t he? The gods literally bred you as their vessel for the Essence. Do you think that there was any love in that?
MC: T-That’s…I…I…why are you telling me this? This is some kind of trick isn’t it?!
BB: I am telling you this because I know the pain, child. I know the pain of being discarded and unwanted for generations on end. And I don’t want that for you. No one should know that kind of burden.
silence
BB: All I’m offering you is a chance to never be alone again. You will never have to compete with the likes of Aeson ever again, or have to worry about some god’s manipulations. Is that so bad?
I’m just here patiently waiting for the game to be complete and sold on the app store or yeah, so I can fanfic/art/comic the shizzles out of it tbh.
And as Rohie mentioned/implied several posts ago: tears are great for drinking :))
But yeah. My personal bet for the big bad is Eris at least for this game. And if I’m right, then I hope she sows that kind of internal strife and conflict onto the MC :))
