I wonder why. Too mature or adult?
I asked Max the same thing at his Discord and you could bet on it
Seems The Most Likely Reason
@Ragnock136 @Crow and others ā
When designing a game, one of the unfortunate realities is that the platform stores have editorial power to some degree.
This means that before being hosted, Apple, Google and Steam will have their final say on the game. Steam is not as restrictive as others, so my bet it was another of the stores that wanted things toned down.
Hosted Games will put forward your material as written, but if you desire your game to be sold on all the platforms, you have to let them have their say on things sometimes.
Is it possible to have two separate versions for the platforms and Hosted Game? Like āif you want the [ X ] version, go the platform version. For the [Y/unedited] version, go to Hosted Gamesā? Or does something prevent that?
That would be too much work for both Max and Hosted Games. It is hard enough dealing with one unified version cross-platform ⦠adding additional layers would be a lot to deal with.
Now I feel bad for asking about that. I never thought it would add a whole lot of work. Even then, thanks for explaining on how the process works!
try being slightly dyslexic and on the border of the autism spectrum, couldnāt even have written a title in the coding and i tried believe you me
hey @Eiwynn, correct me if iām wrong, but wouldnāt our resident godfather still be permitted to have the unaltered part listed at dashingdon?
Alright, gotta slight question regarding Hayne, perception, and accuracy:
So Every Time Iāve Done her target practice hangout, itās been her hitting all six, and i only hit five out of six, iām gonna assume that you canāt simply use luck, or have a singularly high perception and a singularly low accuracy, and vice versa?
@MichaelMaxwell has submitted the work for publication, so HG now controls where/how it is made available. He still controls the IP, meaning he can write more games/stories using all the characters and such, but this particular versionās fate is pretty much in its final form.
I know its a bummer, but these things happen. Just be glad you got to experience the material before the edits⦠that is a perk of testing.
Next time both Michael and you will be more aware of the standards, so in testing his newer works, if you encounter material that crosses the line, you can help him identify it sooner ā¦
The shooting skill checks donāt involve the perception stat, only your own accuracy and the weaponās accuracy.
In Hayneās first hangout (in the shooting range), no matter how high your accuracy skill is, you will only ever hit the targets with all of your shots if you roll a natural 20. If you just normally succeed the shooting checks, youāll always miss one shot.
i just figured that since perception can affect the viability of a shots accuracy, it would factor in here, my mistake
@Ragnock136 Its not only sad, but pointless, as well. The rest of the gameās violence is just as descriptive. What I also donāt understand is why a punch canāt even happen. Itās not only pointless, it goes way too far.
To clarify, the gameās original, and current true intent, is always to show the inner workings of a fictional criminal crew, regardless of whether you agree with them or not. Iāll be transparent. Did it hurt the theme of the game? Yes, itās like playing Witcher 3 with no dismemberment. Did it force me to alter the gameās intent? No, everything I need to tell the story is pretty much still there apart from a couple of scenes and a few tweaks. If you didnāt even know the cut content existed, there wouldnāt much of a difference.
Ben and I have thought up a few reasons as to why we had to cut some content, but they were all thought up after the fact that we had cut content, not before, so all of that reasoning is close to pointless justification.
With no further drama, we did what we had to with no regrets, and we will continue to respect the market we have chosen. But outside of HG, writing the short stories had been a blast and much more freeing, as there are very little restrictions for writing short stories on Patreon. I can write whatever I wish, to my own standards⦠Just gotta get over these damn creativity blocks.
EDIT: To further clarify, as far as I know, these restrictions were market editorial restrictions? The HG people were nice enough to let my game be as it is at first launch with all itās glory, apart from a plethora of typos and grammar fixes which I never got to thank the incredible copy-editor for fixing. Itās the store restrictions that had me edit itās the content. Apple, google play, etc. I know Steam doesnāt give a shit, but Apple and Google might. So yeahā¦
Has anyone had this issue and been able to fix it before Iāve been unable to progress with the story, Iāve tried restarting my story twice and got to this point and have had the same thing happen each time

Could I write a submit a short story for your Patreon?
Um⦠I think that would be called a fanfic? Though Iād be happy to read them when I have the time.
I donāt know if someone has asked this before but does anyone know how to ārefuseā when Gabriel ask you to join the Archangel in the beginning of the game?
Itās basically a forced choice, iirc the wording before was along the lines of the āyou donāt really have any other optionsā theme.
