Yeah, just make sure your character doesn’t have the trait “Naive”, because then you will realise it too late…perhaps they’ll even influence you to kill your loyal allies.

Mercenaries will be used for battles, not for assassinations. You may hire assassins or use other means to kill your enemy.
Edt: You can buy poison…

My MCs going to be modeled off of Littlefinger. Littlefinger is the best, right after Arya. But I dont think I can make my MC (GoT spoilers) A teenaged girl who trains with assassins and goes blind,then gets her eyes back😂

Forgot to add, some traits are unique. If you gain the trait “Knight”, you can even form a knighthood order. (Which, unlike forming your own unit, act as men hunters who cleanse the lands of bandits).

Thinking of this achievement, “The Corrupt Lord”, achieve it by making all of your relatives council members, so the full council is of your relatives.

At least you didnt make your only good son (who was a legitmized bastard) your spymaster, and handed out all the other postions to your other sons. Man roleplaying CK2 by traits makes for interesting situations like that.

Anyway, the true nightmare is when you are playing CK2 GoT. You play as Robb Stark and suddenly you encounter Gregor Clegane on the battlefield. You send your bodyguard who is instantly slain by him and you wet your pants. Long story short he ended my 10 minute CK2 playthrough.
