Great to hear then. Also is there a threshhold for the ideal energy our MC should have to perform well in fights, or is every fight different?
In the coming version, fighting power is calculated based on four main stats, and then this number is multipled by the percentage of energy. So you’d want to be at 100% energy for fights, but every fight is different. You wouldn’t need to be against particularly weak opponents, or if you are planning to lose a fight.
Currently there is no mechanical consequence to losing most fights, except the fight scene will be different. That’s something I am going to implement later on.
This WIP has been updated! Lily’s fight is now playable. It ends just before Kevin’s fight. Please see the changelog in the first post for details. I still have a LOT to work on, so I don’t have specific requests for feedback yet. Once players are able to fully play through Victoria and Lily storylines, I will be asking questions about what you most enjoy and least enjoy!
Apparently this story has 90,433 words now, including all the code. But probably more than half of that is not accessible yet. And there’s significant overlap in a lot of the text - for example, there are 4-6 fight scenes for each character, but maybe half of the text is the same or very nearly the same. Still, that’s more than I thought! Wow!
The next update will add a romance option for Victoria, 6 scenes long. I want to get this out fairly soon and solicit feedback - whether the romance feels bolted on, smooth, integral to the story, or whatever you think!
Great update! I like the breakdown and distribution of our MCs combat power. In the future, will we be able to “upgrade” our techniques?
Bugswise, the stats dont properly update your win/loss/draw record. Also I noticed that the descriptions for the events with Eric seem to spoil you on what the event is without going through it yet.
Now that I finished Eric’s events I feel like the pacing is too fast. Like I dont feel that much time has passed. His events seem more “important” and monumental so finishing it very quickly feels unsatisfying. Victoria’s events are better paced I think, maybe because its relatively low stakes? Maybe it should take more time and a higher relationship status to unlock their events.

That’s a great idea and I had the same thought! I am going to implement it by gating the Eric scenes by time. i.e. after you have played one scene, you need to wait 1 month to play the next one. Haven’t gotten around to coding it yet.
I’ll also check that the event descriptions don’t spoil the text. I might have put the descriptions one scene early. Thanks for the catch!

Oh whoops, I’ll fix the bug in the next version. Yes, all these techniques will upgrade depending on your stats (e.g. Panicked Block upgrades depending on your Physique stat). So much to implement, so little time!
Good game need more asap brother
A little more time to train or an extra week might help pace the balance between train and recovery is a little fast
It’ll be 4 activities between each fight, starting from chapter 5! The first few chapters are 2 activities because the player has very few choices that early on.
How to beat Lily
if you don’t mind me asking how do you defeat Lily
Good luck and stay healthy
Lily tests Power and Mental stats slightly more than others. You should also try and stay near 100% energy. Energy directly affects your fighting power, e.g. if your fighting power was 100, and you had 70% energy, then your adjusted fighting power would be 70. (The displayed fighting power does this adjustment for you)
Still Lost
Updated with a new chapter! Please see the first post in the thread for details. Please “like” this thread if you are enjoying the game so far. I would very much like to hear your views and comments!
For some reason now when i play it said Victoria doesn’t content subplot
Oh whoops, let me fix that! Give me 30 minutes or so
Edit: fixed. Forgot to upload a file. Thanks for the catch
Edit: I forgot to unlock Chapter 6. Please reload if the game stops at Chapter 5
Edit: I also forgot to unlock the Victoria romance arc. Please reload if you don’t see the option after you finish the Victoria main storyline!
Thank you,
The game crashes on October 1. I’ve refreshed it several times but it keeps crashing.
So far, all your opponents seem to be good people who you get to befriend and learn from. Isnt it time to include a rival/villain character? Someone that the MC is driven to defeat at all costs? Just to add a new focus to the story and an element of urgency in the narrative.
Since we were talking about art on the support thread…
Thoughts:
When making a decision on what to train, it could be helpful to have current stats displayed at the bottom of the text body, right above the choices.
Are the pictures working?
I ended my playthrough winning about half the matches.
Consider having an optional cheat/unlimited mode?
Given that the MC’s last name is Parker, what’s his background like?
