Average Downloads per Game?

Hey, that’s nice to hear, you guys. It’s a little out of the way from most urban fantasy, I admit, but it has gotten pretty good reviews, at least. And I am quite certain the sequel (coming in November) is all-round better.

I’m kind of afraid of Reddit but I bet I could go learn to StumbleUpon things, maybe. I should get on that this evening.

If we get 25% royalties, than shouldn’t we get about $0.75 per book sold (if they are selling at $2.99 per)? So if Heroes Rise sold 20,000 in a year, than shouldn’t Zachary Sergi have received about $150,000 in his first year? That’s actually a really nice profit.

I think you have a comma in the wrong place, as well as what royalties are calculated against… Most digital publishers who pay royalties but have to rely on third party websites as vendors pay royalties after the third party takes their cut.

Oh, I did put the comma in the wrong place:( dang…

How much do you think the vendor’s cut would be?

20,000 copies * $2.99 * ~ 70% (platform cut) * 25% = $10,500

Oh okay, thanks Jason. Is there any way to tell how much a free game book would make for the author?

Also, the 30% for Apple/Google comes first. So, 25% of 70% is more like 17.5%

20,000 at $3 is $10500

EDIT: Jason ninja’d me.

Thanks for clearing that for me. Also, say an author hired a programmer to take care of the choice script side of things. Is there any way CoG could send the author his cut and send the programmer his cut, or does that have to be done privately?

And also, how does CoG decide if they want to make the book 0, 1, 2, or 3 dollars?

@chrysoula Yeah, I have sort of the same thoughts about reddit… I am not too keen on seeing some of the things they see on there, and even if that isn’t enough to keep me away, I don’t want to end up with the same obsession that everyone else who uses it seems to have!
