Highly recommend the movie version with david tennant and patrick stewart if you ever decide to try it  I saw it years ago and remember thinking it was the best adaptation I’d ever seen (and I’ve seen it 4 times live + a couple versions of it in movies).

The closest I’ve gotten to Hamlet is watching The Lion King.

Had a chance to write a bit last night, so started the month with smth in hand and sent the hallooween draft.
Starting on Monday, hopefully will have a new life schedule - a bit busier but will have more motivation.

Also for a writer living in historical days due to my geo-location. Gathering so many mental thoughts to my writing bucket.

Besides stumbled upon to this comic/manga on a Japanese Capsule bed+desk visit video on youtube. The place is a 6 floor internet cafe with food lounge, bathroom - showers etc - manga library. And the visitor grabbed that manga below. Found interesting so sharing here.

For Grand Tourismo & Racing fans

Thank you so much for posting this. I really need help with this. The fact that there’s an article about it is SUPER helpful. <3

this question haunts me at night

AND NOW IT WONT. YAY!

CONGRATULATIONS! WOO!

Please rest and recuperate! I know I hope to see you in here for years to come, so if possible, no pushing back your recovery!

Happy Birthday!

I’d love to know your strategy for this. I’m shit at pacing. XD

What I pictured:

, so if that helps…?

I like your doodle

Text box investigations always frustrate me, because I’m afraid I’m going to spell the word wrong, or type the wrong word or something.

Congrats!

JULY GOALS:

  • Finish Chapter One of Phoenix Rising - I’m beginning to feel a little downhearted on this one.
  • Get posts on the Nascent Souls Tumblr up to August. - Publicity doesn’t build itself. and sadly the only thing I’ve managed to do is piddle with this one. I have been answering questions on the Tumblr, tho… so that’s nice.
  • Get the game to a point where I can ACTUALLY POST AN UPDATED DEMO, GODDAMMIT. – le sigh
  • Bonus at work. - I did not. Not only that, I was massively behind and spent a week getting yelled at for mistakes I kept making. I think my boss is hiring a new person soon… and we’re losing 2 people within the next two months.
  • Keep up with my Accountabili-Buddies so that we all make progress on our games. @RascaldeesV2 @Phenrex @eveelution . Also looking for more accounta-bilibuddies too! Apply now!

Progress on my 2024 goals

  • Complete Phoenix Rising - not even close to on track for this one.
  • Begin Editing Phoenix Rising - or this one
  • Participate in at least 1 game jam - I’m beginning to think this is a pipe dream for me
  • Complete at least 1 game jam - definitely thinking this is a pipe dream
  • Learn Spanish enough to be able to use it at work (earn a $2 raise by doing this) - I’ve… I dunno. I think I’ve given up. It hurts to think about.

August Goals

  • Finish Chapter One of Phoenix Rising - Hell, at this point, I’d take finishing the daydream section.
  • Get posts on the Nascent Souls Tumblr up to end of september. - Help TAT I’m running out ot tags to search for things to add to the queue.
  • Get the game to a point where I can ACTUALLY POST AN UPDATED DEMO, GODDAMMIT. – stares hopefully at it
  • Bonus at work. - I’m trying so hard.
  • Keep up with my Accountabili-Buddies so that we all make progress on our games. @RascaldeesV2 @Phenrex @eveelution . Also looking for more accounta-bilibuddies too! Apply now!

I’d like some advice about the grammar of one of my sentences. I currently have a sentence in my WIP that reads “You didn’t even ask her her name?”

The repeated her back to back feels awkward when I read it written, but when I say it out loud it feels like a natural way people would say it in conversation. Since the sentence is spoken by one character to another, my instinct is to leave it like I have it, but want it to come across like a typo or feel awkward to a reader.

Some people will have a problem with it, others will see it as grammatically correct.

Close enough. Will fix the hair color later.

Good luck!

Happy August!

My goal for this month is to get through beta testing and hopefully a final read through of Ink and Intrigue!

When this game is wrapped up I might need a bit of a break. I have lots of WIP ideas and one well outlined, but I’m feeling like a breather will be necessary and beneficial. I’ve been pushing pretty hard and burnout is real. At the very least, I’ll take the pressure off and just write when I want, not when I think I should.

I might not have time to keep up with this thread in its entirety, but I’ll be cheering y’all on. May the words be with us! :revolving_hearts: :herb:

A couple ways to get around this:
“You didn’t even ask about her name”
“You didn’t even ask her name”
“You didn’t even ask her about her name”

You’re not wrong in that saying it out loud it’s very much how someone would say it. But if it looks wrong when read, it’s still going to take the player out of the game for a second to parse it.

That sounds healthy, good luck!

For me, it’s only 3rd and I’m already behind my schedule… and since this time it’s directly tied to my living situation, this isn’t good.

EDIT: I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to realize I can just call my “default” gender combinations as “presets”… :person_facepalming:

I also have this urge to gauge the data of what the readers assume the gender-variable characters’ “canonical” gender be, but I have no idea how to go about that.

About the didn’t ask her Her name is correct. What it is not so fine is puntuation.

The second her is for giving a emphasis HER it should be …her. Her name!

I’ve done polls every so often for my ones - not particularly scientific, but interesting. I haven’t asked what people think a character’s canon gender is, because I don’t think it’s relevant (they don’t have canon/default genders), but I have asked what gender people most often see particular characters as.

Sorry about putting in another question, but this has been bothering me for a while: I have a plot… thing? Well, motivation-ish thing (I have no idea how to call it) that is manifested by the name the MC’s parents gave them starting by a specific letter. The MC can have changed their name later, even if they aren’t trans, and the game uses the name the MC is currently using, and the characters who haven’t known the MC as a kid (which are everyone but one) have no knowledge of the issue.

But! The thing is important. Not the name, mind you, but the letter. How would I go about talking about it without it being uncomfortable? Would “um, actually, my parents gave me a name like that, but I changed it” work?

Haha, I’ve seen too many complaints about “this character was clearly meant as [insert gender]” in relation to different games to not be curious!

As player you can even put me a entire name from my parents. Always I have choices to hate it. And let clear that I hate it
And of course, that npcs reacted at the fact.

Like if X npc hate us, they call us for our parents given name.

My suggestion would be: “You didn’t even ask the lady/the agent/Susan her name.”

Using the character’s name would be my personal goto because it would be reinforcing the character’s name.

They probably could, but I don’t want to run around deadnaming the MC, and none of the relevant characters are cruel enough to do that either (not even K, who’s the red flaggest RO I’ve ever written).

I am happy that the articles help. I appreciate people telling me so, because it helps me figure out future articles knowing what is and isn’t helpful.
