Hi, its that time again. I’ve for the first time in a long while actually ran through and read a full run of the available content so far. And I realized that there’s a whole host of issues I simply didnt notice when writing on tbe CSIDE of things. Nothing quite gamebreaking but enough to make me wonder how I didnt notice this earlier. As such there is a bit of a rewrite ongoing of the already present content. Nothing major, just fixing the many noticed typos and grammatical errors. Along with some fixes for the store.
That should be going up sometime before the actual update since I am doing it concurrently when I find free time and motivation to write. I might also consider involving some phone based writing as that might lower some of the necessary step to writing I have and hopefully improve efficiency. Presuming I figure out how to actually do it in a manner transferable to CSIDE cleanly.
Fixed. Turned out I didn’t update the startup file and thus the variable had nothing to call to on cogdemos. Should be up to date now. Alongside some minor typo fixes. Thanks for reporting!
Hello. I apologize to inform that I have managed to make no progress this past two weeks. A combination of starting University period, a slumps of personal troubles and severe infections have left me off my computer for a long period of time. No guarantees of imminent continues but at least the outline is growing further.
Allo allo. Nothing new to report still. Starting to think I should work on a different IF type for a bit because the motivation to write is starting to dry completely in spite of the ideas still flowing. Just feels a bit bad to actually sit down and write and so does not writing so its a bit of a bad vibe right now. Hopefully a solution turns up.
Hoi Hoi. Finished with the look through over the past stuff. Rewrote some stuff that wasn’t up to snuff and fixed a litany of errors that I didn’t notice when I trusted A.I to do minor proofreading for punctuation. Suppose I should’ve seen that one coming but eh. Certainly not going to do that in the future again. Should now hopefully be less riddled with typos and other similar statements while adding a tiny bit more choice and making everything more tidy.
Will be getting back to normal work again. Winter seems a bit nicer for my general motivation so hopefully I can actually get stuff done. I’ll be limiting the range of options provided from here on. To sort of get the overall plotline finished. And then once theres a proper clear path I can go back and add in those choices retroactively. That way I hopefully limit how much immediate branching I have to do for everything and hopefully not need over 100k words for every single “chapter”.
Have a wonderful thanksgiving. Or had. I don’t actually know when that is.
Decent progress. Had another minor surgery so that was uh… fun. So progress got halted almost immediately. But I hope to have 10k written by the end of the month.
Greetings. Progress has been made. Albeit so far a bit shorter than the planned 10k words in December. I might be able to knock some out in the last few hours of the year but even then. It probably wont hit the mark. Still. Progress is Progress and I am nearing the point where one of the 4 paths is finished.
That said. My goal now is to simply have this portion finished and uploaded before the next May 26th. Staying for two years straight on this one portion is far. Far. From ideal and I am utterly disappointed by the fact I have bottlenecked myself so early on. I won’t make any promises beyond that until I finish it. Which I can hopefully lock the fuck in and actually do this time.
Regardless. Happy New Years Eve. See you next year!
Writing these stories is so much harder than people realise. Now that you’ve figured out the first path, you might find that the others go much smoother and faster. Good luck with the New Year!
Hi again, its that time again. Progress has been steady. I believe about 6K words so far and counting in two sessions? I’ve managed to gather some more motivation to keep going on days I am not busy with other projects. It does appear as though I may, at least so far, reach the goal.
That being said, at least for the first few chapters, I will make the executive decision to not include any failure checks. While I want to have them as they open routes I want to explore, even with the general idea being less “Die, restart” and more “Succeed but get injured in the process”. I can’t really figure out a way to do those checks in a way that feels satisfactory since ultimately failure is not really in the books at the MCs current stage. A trait system feels too locking to a certain playstyle while stats have this habit of forcing you to a certain playstyle anyway from the start.
I want the reader to be able to choose whatever choice they feel works best at that point in time based on the information given. And while one aspect I plan to integrate in this regard is the shop, with the items and information purchased allowing you to succeed in situations you would otherwise not come out unharmed. That doesn’t really have the “fail check” I want.
At the same time, I am hesitant to try and write this with no fail conditions whatsoever either. So I am taking the very very mature route of kicking the can down so future me deals with it.
This should also cut down the amount of words expected to be written by about a third, so thats a general plus for reaching my May goal.
That being said, progress will temporarily halt as I have finals to deal with. But I should hopefully be able to restart sometime after January 20th. Hopefully I finish the first route before the release anniversary of the first demo version come February.
Hello again. It’s that time of the month again and I bring similarly good news. Progress has been made and I am, I’d say roughly about 15k? Give or take words from finishing the first of the four main paths during training. That means all the branching from start to end of training. So hopefully I can then transition to the second path a bit faster since that has some progress of its own. As far as I’ve planned, none of the three paths should be as long as the first one. But I sort of just can’t help but put in the “Hitman WOA” part of my brain and just try and have as many sandboxy paths. Even if it means a doubling of the amount of work I need to do.
Now. Onto the not so good news. My laptop on which I do all of this is starting to croak a bit. Infinite shutdowns. Task manager not working consistently. It’s nothing major yet but I am feeling like it may not survive the year so I will be trying my best to get this portion out before that happens. As it will be a long while before I’d be able to replace the Laptop. Ramadan is occuring soon and that will either be rather convenient for my progress as itd be a good distraction from fasting or it will be rather horrible as I tend to like to snack a lot when I am writing. Time will tell. Hopefully the former.
I sort of just want to get out of this little hell I’ve created in this portion because it is a lot of branching paths with little actually new for my brain to write. Its the type of stuff thats fun and great for a player but hell for someone to actually go ahead and write. But I know itll be worth it in the end. And maybe I can then finally move on to the other stuff that I am more keen these days on wanting to write but can’t on account of it being further ahead.
That said. I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your January.
Hello hi. Nothing to report. Been a bit busy with other projects taking up my mental space. Should still hopefully manage to make up for it within the latter half of this month when my biggest current project ends.
Hiyo. Ramadan Kareem everyone. Progress has been steady albeit in a different way. I always considered that a hurdle might have been that this next part is so thick and fundamentally just still the same that it was causing me to burn out having to write a huge amount of paths that all focus on one target so early on with little brevity in between. The outline is predicting something like 80k+ words in total for what is probably more akin to 8000 words at most per training run. So I figured that I could maybe manage some more motivation if I decided to not do the entire thing as it appears but to instead freely go about where I have outlined where I feel most motivated.
This has resulted me in sitting down and doing 5k words in two sections immediately after the training ends in one sitting. A third of this months goal of 15k. This is rather good news and I have regained a bit more motivation to keep at it. I imagine I will be able to more easily manage progress by going between action in training and dialogue post and sort of blow off steam. This may delay my goal of finishing that training sequence. But if I can actually comfortably get it finished then I will be rather proud. Assuming my Laptop doesn’t die on me first. It does also mean that when the next section is finished you’ll have more than just the training. Which should hopefully be very nice.
I hope I can bring you more good news come next bi weekly update. Have a great rest of your february and early march.
Aight. Fixed. I had changed the sequence a tiny bit during polishing to give a bit more choice but accidentally ended up duplicating the label. didn’t know that could break it but now that label should be fine again.
Hi again. I have nothing quite notable to update on this time. My schedule got thrown out the window and ive been pulling 24 hour days for seemingly no reason. So ive been trying to acquire a sense of normalcy. I did do some work during then. Just far less than id like. Hopefully the rest of March is more fine.
It was not in fact fine. I spent a majority of these past two weeks hibernating in bed. Like I got a sudden case of exhaustion. Could be related to putting too many hours in the other stuff im working on but I didnt make any progress this week. But with the biggest of them wrapping up. I should hopefully be better managed going forwards. Especially because I am opting to do the probably more sane option of finishing one route first and then greying out the unfinished route so I can actually meet my deadline of may and get some feedback.
