Thanks for the offer but thats not needed! I am glad you enjoy it though!

Hello again. I unfortunately bring bad news once again. Ramadan has not helped my motivation, and thus Iāve made very little progress. I am still not quite sure what Iāll do in regards to this sudden bit of writerās block that is tanking my interest. But I will update you further when I solve it. Or if I keep hitting a dead end on that front.
Until then. I wish you all a wonderful rest of your March and a Happy Eid.
Take care.
Hi, again. Mightāve realized recently that maybe the prospect of 30k words of action in a row in order to complete the sections necessary may have been subconsciously far more daunting than I had realized. So I got some work in finishing out just the section I am in right now and then going back to rewrite* some stuff and input some of the wonderful suggestions Chance highlighted last september (Man I am slow.)
It was a little worrying seeing how many times I typed the word sulk, especially in situations where āsneakā or āpassā wouldāve worked just fine if not better. Certainly a dose of that no good neuron that you feel when looking back at past work. But it also gave me a hit of some of the better neurons as some sections I was looking over in the process of some polishing was still pretty good.
I am not entirely certain if the CoGDemos saves will hold up when I eventually release this next portion. So I will look into a method of skipping for those who have already read and are not keen on replaying all the way back to the new stuff.
*The rewrites are nothing major. Just making certain things more clear and adding some bits to make certain scenes more easily understood.
Thatās about all I wished to update you all with!
Did something happen to the game?? Because I am not able to access it
cogdemos updated and broke a bunch of links
Bah. Ill have to fix that in a bit. Should be back in business in about⦠2 to 4 hours give or take afte I finish some chores.
Took a little longer than Iād like to complete those chores. But The link has been fixed. Sorry for the delay. And thanks for informing me!!!
No problem
Ello ello, Been a little longer than I wanted but certain events, including me missing my exam and its make-up has more than soured my general mood. Finals should be at the end of the month and after which there should be nothing more related to that for a few months. A few other projects are also wrapping up so hopefully that would leave me more time to actually set aside and try and work on this more. Given we are nearing the a year after the last time I had updated it, with very little to show.
In terms of what is currently planned. There are four main routes during the training exercise.
Front
Side
Rear
Wall
Most of the work has been focused on front thus far, Which has ballooned into 4 subpaths of its own with one of those subpaths having 3 sub-subpaths. Having tunnelled to deep into that one line may have been a big part for my general drought since the lack of change isnāt ideal for my motivation, but it is finished now and Iāll try to spread out a tad more in the future to get more work overall in even if it is not as efficient on a per by per basis.
Thankfully. The other paths should be more simple by virtue of being a lot more narrow in comparison.
On the more positive end. I have certainly consumed a great deal more media that is related to this subject which has provided quite a big bowl of ideas. Which comfortably means that I mostly lack the time and will to put them into big words rather than a simple burnout of ideas. Because I have no idea what I will do if I ever reach that stage.
May you all have a good May!
Glad to hear about the progress!
Hello ello. Not much progress as it is exam week, but it should be over soon as its wrapping up by the end of the week alongside a project. Managed to still get in about 1500 words in during that timespan during a burst which Iām happy for. Hopefully after exams I can find a nice schedule to work with it on.
With that. I hope you have a wonderful rest of may.
Hello all, Good news is I managed to successfully pass my exams, so no repeating or anything, which is a nice load off my shoulders, unfortunately, 40 degree celsius weather is not quite helping the motivation to do much of anything. Barely managed to sit down for 200 words before the laptop heat and general heat makes it unbearable. Iāll try and find some time if possible but it is not looking good for the summer. I will be honest about that.
Hope you have a better june than I have had.
Thatās a shame but IRL always get in the way.
Ello again. Time for another update.
In terms of good news. I have made a good decent bit of progress. Aiming for 2000 words today and I am so far 700 in, found a bit of a lull in time I could use to write so I am trying to put as much use of that right now as I could.
In terms of not so good news. The local telecom center was on fire, which had derailed quite a bit of my plans and caused delays that meant that the progress I was supposed to make last wednesday got pushed to this wednesday. It was one long week without internet that one. But thankfully it has recently been put out and service was back up. Albeit a shadow of its former self currently.
With this comes two offerings today. The first is another poll. Namely:
The way I categorize āFighting styleā tends to fall under the three categories of unarmed, guns and blades. three physical specializations that sort of represent the way you handle targets and threats and the perks and challenges that come from each of them. It is sort of a bed I made that I must sleep in for that means every fight where you will reasonably have the choice of using those, I need to make 3 scenes. Now I donāt necessarily mind those, I like writing action, the issue I came to notice is the flow. This is an assassin IF at its core. That means fighting people is pretty freakinā common, which also means that choice of which tool to use will come pretty commonly and not often in a long neatly written poise but rather a simple āWhat do you intend to useā. There is only so many ways to ask the question after all, even bearing in mind providing details in every encounter on possible benefits and downsides. So with that I come to ask the following.
In regards to this conundrum. Would you as a reader prefer:
Ideally I would have an option that just kind of gives you the questions or locks you in. But I am not sure I am confident enough in my coding to have something like that, this early anyway. (I am still figuring out what stats I will have, if any.)
Secondly. It has been over a year since the last update, partially due to my procrastination, partially due to the target I set for the next chapter requiring a great deal of work that is a bit harder to separate into releaseable chunks. But there are chunks that are finished. Namely the intro to the training exercise. Roughly 10k words in all. If you would like to have that release early, I can do that. Though the actual exercise itself will unfortunately need to be finished in full before it is released.
That about covers the update. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your July.
I might not have gotten your idea fully, but more choices are generally better. If I can pick a weapon or fighting style every time instead of getting locked into it from the start, thatās more possible variation during play, which can only be a good thing in a choicegame.
If youāre going to write individual scenes for each fighting style, might as well give people more power over which scenes they get to read.
Thats sort of the goal, just mostly the concept of being offered the choice in a secondary choice page right after feels like⦠I dont know, unpolished? Like, youāve built up the tension, approached the target, and then. After picking the choice whereupon you decide to strike.
Youāre presented with three further choices.
Its fine fundamentally, just sort of feels like a pause that can disrupt flow for something a bit OOC rather than in character. But I also canāt think of a way to code in and write that option without it being like that. Not without, as aforementioned, locking the players into one style.
Its just a vibes thing really. Though I may be overthinking how it feels.
You can give a hint on what type of impact a style would have in the story before choosing, like using guns with crowds nearby can cause commotions, or being bare-handed in a fight with multiple enemies in possession of guns might take more time and effort and have toll on the pc.
Hello. Itās that time again. So far I have made about 3000 or so words in progress over the past week. The heat wave has subsided so that opened up the time I feel comfortable to write in a bit. And as projects start to wrap up I am getting a bit more time to input into this. Itās not the amount of progress I would have liked to be making but it is far more than previous weeks so that is progress.
There really isnāt much more to be said so hereās a snippet.
You unsheathe your knife, flexing your fingers against its grip as you prepare mentally. Grabbing onto the handle, you count down internally. Three⦠Two⦠Oneā¦
You swing the door open and rush through, immediately scanning the area, you only see and hear one guard to your immediate right. She seems to have been caught off-guard by your sudden entry as she drops her phone and fumbles for her waist. You immediately rush, watching as she spreads her legs out to get into firing position as she draws. Professional work really. But unfortunately for her, you were relying on her being professional.
As she pulls out her gun, you close the gap and extend your free hand to grab onto her weapon arm, but rather than wrestle for control, you continue pushing and slide under her through the gap she created, dragging her hand along with you. You slash at her leg as you stand up behind her, firmly keeping her hand in between her legs and pointed down. You almost look like youāre about to give her a pumphandle slam. But you opt to just slam the knife in her back instead.
The knife just sort of bounces off her back on account of being rubber, but she slumps over all the same and releases hold of the gun. And as you release your hold on her hand, you look around to see if anyone else heard that commotion.
Have a good August.
Another heat wave kicked my ass these two weeks. No progress this time unfortunately. Hopefully the next two are more productive and less temprementally weathered.
Things in life have struck and thus little to no progress has been made the past weeks. It is unlikely to continue in the immediate future. But hopefully the next time I update. It is with better news.
