It’s possible that C’s partner is a good person, but they aren’t good when they’re with C. Based on my subjective perception and assessment, C seems to be the type of person who, once they fall in love, tends to devote all their time and mental energy to their partner. This type of person gives a lot in a relationship, and when they give so much, they can easily be controlled and mistakenly believe they aren’t loving enough if their partner complains, “Don’t you love me anymore?” Conversely, T would demand more if they feel they’re not getting enough attention.
Usually, I don’t like love triangles in novels where a character like T is portrayed as the bad person and the main character is good. This kind of character development is very boring and cringe-worthy for readers. But I’m glad that in Apt 502, at least T won’t be completely bad. If I remember correctly, on Nik’s Tumblr, C was described as the central character in the relationship. This means C will be the decision-maker. That’s very interesting because I would prefer a storyline where there’s no competition for affection, and C is the one who actively realizes how wrong their relationship with T has become and needs to make a decision - not due to MC’s influence, but because C truly wants to end it. MC is perhaps just a minor factor because, in my opinion, MC has no right to speak up between C and T. And C, of course, is not unfaithful, either emotionally or physically.
Another point that excites me is when T found out MC was staying at C’s place, T showed off their rather extreme possessiveness. My inner devil exclaimed upon seeing that passionate kiss that the challenge was accepted Like: “Okay, I didn’t want to pay attention, but you started it.” Therefore, I’m really looking forward to seeing how the relationship between C and MC develops, and how they realize that they should really end things for their own good.
Right off the bat, M’s scenes were fun to play. That kind of awkward familiarity felt really real. I played with them as an ex-friend, so I’m not sure if playing as their ex differs much, but they seemed pretty lighthearted and amicable with the MC, so I’m interested to see where the story goes with the “rivals” part of their trope
On the other hand, I really hope that Andi doesn’t always try to stay a neutral third party or act like they have no idea what’s going on. I know that their circumstances/Rainn’s character gives them some plausibility, but I’m struggling to buy it and it’s grating on me already, and we’re only on the first chapter - someone has to get Andi in the divorce lmao
If Rainne is supposed to be an RO, I don’t think there’s anything they can do for me to take them back. Like even ignoring all the they did, personally, I’m the type to cut them off completely after a break up and just move on or at least try to.
So far, I’m getting M>C>A>L in the RO rankings.
To be fair, I can completely understand why Andi would want to stay out of it. I speak from experience where my mom divorced my stepdad who I was still on good terms with but I absolutely refused to be dragged into their drama which ended up pissing them off because they both expected that I’d be on their side.
There’s probably going to be a moment where Andi finally snaps and starts yelling at both MC and Rainn for dragging her into their drama because she probably wants to keep the friendship she has with the both of them.
Agreed, I really wish I had the option to slap Rainn after everything that happened, or romance them just for revenge, muahahaha. Even though I’ve only played the demo, I’m quite annoyed with R’s reaction, like the three years of feelings meant nothing to them, but I’ll wait and see. Oh, my current level of affection for the LIs is A=C>L>M
I do get why Andi wouldn’t want to be involved, especially before things have really been processed. But, in real life, I couldn’t remain best friends with someone who had seen how someone had hurt or misled me and then continued to have a close relationship with them under the guise of neutrality, so I don’t want to be forced into that in-game
Though, this is all hypothetical, we don’t know how it’ll all play out
Ugh, i know these aren’t real people or anything, but the very idea of romancing someone to get back at one’s ex rubs me entirely wrong way. Like, so much fun to be treated as nothing but a tool in some petty revenge, especially if it’s your supposed best friend using you this way.
I’m low key hoping Andi will tell such MCs to just go fuck themselves. /s
No, i definitely think it’s Rainn. Just before that, MC notices Rainn mouthing smth and while reading their lips, realizing it was “what the fuck”. And like bored93 said, it was because Rainn was surprised seeing MC there.
So like, MC was shocked when seeing Rainn with someone else (believing it’s a new lover) while Rainn was surprised seeing MC in apt 502 lol
I’m not sure about that, because if these were Rainn’s words then you’d kind of expect them to be in quotes like every other piece of spoken text. Although i guess this is the first time Rainn learns MC is living in “their” building now, so i guess a WTF reaction is quite guaranteed.
Yes, but those are still Rainn’s words MC is guessing and not MC’s own thoughts, so you’d still expect them to be italicized quote to make this distinction, like this:
“What the fuck?”
Though i guess it doesn’t really matter in the end, it’s not like it’s some crucial plot point.
They’re not in quotes because MC doesn’t literally hear Rainn saying “what the fuck”. It’s MC’s thoughts of the words they saw Rainn mouthing, hence why they’re in italics.
Oh, they definitely will. For someone who’s job relies on accurate communication and absolute trust, this situation with MC could turn into a career killer in the hands of the right office enemy/rival. Anyone who also wants the promotion Rainn is after could use it to make him look untrustworthy, unscrupulous and uncommunicative (all of which…he is) and take that promotion to junior partner for themself.
Absolutely obsessed with this. A gem. We’re so early in but it’s clear there’s a true narrative with endless paths and variations being set up here, alongside a lovely sitcom-esque cast. All the branching (there’s so so much branching, wow) and flavor text is so thorough and well done, you can tell this is a real passion project and a labor of love. Will be supporting this one as much as I can, I have a feeling it could be one of my favorite ChoiceScript projects of all time. I’m kind of shocked it’s her first go at this!
@yelhsa when going to stay at aldis apartment there is a error of sorts involving how we react to mari and who she is with we get both options happening i choose the try to fun path but apparently defending self option also happens.
When Rainn said something along the way of ‘I am human too, even if you like to forget about that’ to MC was totally uncalled for and broke my heart to pieces. Very tempted to choose the crying option.
Like… is that really how we are to you??? We admire you, of course (playing a countrybumpkin MC who’s not intimidated by Rainn’s achievements or “friends” with a sunny disposition and surprising the New Yorkers by simply smiling at them loool), but we absolutely know you are human??? We don’t expect outlandish things from Rainn, and even when R suddenly went blank on communication as we’re about to move to another country we actually prepared everything ourself so we won’t burden Rainn!
Gosh. I got so invented and became a wreck.
Totally gonna replay over and over until a new update arrive.
An author and one of the neighbors. We actually met them already. If you remember the scene where we were talking to a stranger about a book and we have the option to say we either loved, hated or didn’t know the book. That’s G. They also have a kid who will be in your class if you picked the teacher route
From what I’ve seen on Nik’s Tumblr, the current potential ROs (Romance Options) introduced include: Atlas/Athena, Callum/Calliope, Levi/Lani, Garrett/Gaia, Rainn, Mason/Mona, and the secret RO is Andi (not really a secret). I’m not sure if the author will add any more options in the future.
