An Unexpectedly Green Journey (orc life-simulator) [1.5+ Million Words] OUT NOW!

The hints are more passive and, in hindsight, too vague. The team doesn’t help you, they have to rely on your orc’s brains. When I do update again I think I will add a subtle hint in the dial room.

Just because my brain is swiss cheese and smoother than a baby’s bottom don’t mean you have to do all that xD I just didn’t catch the hints I’m sure for some people the detective aspect of it is a plus and for those of us that it gives PTSD to we get the dopamine rush of finally guessing correctly! Also I was mentioning the temple in the canyon where you’re competing for kills. That one just says no one in your team knows anything about it. I may not have tried all possible teams tho too. I figured since it said nobody knows anything there has to be one who does.

Doom of gods is the only achievement I still haven’t gotten yet, there’s a few things on the dark path I haven’t tried yet so it’s probably one of those

Sujan, very soon you will transcend into the realm of myth. Truly, you have conquered Abit and left a legacy that will echo through the ages!!!

OK, yeah, this last one has me stuck.

This is one you can get on the Shaman path. You must build the observatory instead of the farms which takes you on a different holy path. If you follow this path through, building and learning all the stuff Krog wants, you will fight the gods of the Imperial Pantheon. Afterwards you will fight an elemental battle with the final form of the Emperor.

And there we go, that’s all of them. I got massive choice of magics flashbacks hunting down all those achievements because I did the same thing with that game and that took me forever

You are a true quest hunter and master! Wow! An Epic Orc indeed! Maybe I need to add more achievements! :smiley:

Maybe do that if you have something to add, or if there is new huge content

Yep—updates upset people as they reset progress, so I need to think carefully about it. Game-breaking bugs must be fixed as soon as possible; otherwise, uploading small patches and updates could well be detrimental as players get angry and leave negative feedback and reviews.

Since the current build is stable, I am holding off on updating it. There are some minor fixes I’d like to add but I am leaning towards waiting longer to upload these.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS ONLY THE PROPOSED PATCH- NONE OF THIS IS IMPLEMENTED YET

The next patch, which I may upload near the end of the month or the beginning of December, will contain only bug fixes. If you have anything to add- just bug fixes for now- please message me.

PATCH 2

It will do the following:

-Fixed various loot bugs in some of the Adventurer Guild quests, which set your loot at a specified value instead of adding to it.

-Likewise, fixed a bug in some of the Grandaradgard orc jobs which set loot to a value instead of adding to it.

-Fixed it so that if you dismiss your adventuring party during the party selection screen they no longer pop up in some adventurers. The party is always dismissed properly when you leave the guild and finish quests but sometimes weren’t if you ‘dismissed’ them within the guild.

-Removed a repeated ageing variable in the pup barracks. Don’t want to hasten the onset of old githood.

-Ageing was added to the job of ‘stirring the slop’ in the tribe. Previously, this monotonous task didn’t age you allowing you to do it forever.

-Fixed the values in the Trickledown ‘protect the halflings’ job which gave you incorrect boosts to relations with the halfling faction.

-Fixed ability to cast spells when hunting monsters in the Jagged Divide guild quest.

-Added an extra check for the holy city path. Before, if your city was mismanaged, you could get locked in a death spiral even if you had progressed in Krog’s plans. Have given the player a bit more leniency if they have followed Krog’s directions several times and have had the ‘fourth dream’, though you can still enrage the revolting masses.

-If you managed to recruit Green Skinner, sometimes the description of your improved goblin fighters didn’t display correctly in the relevant stats screen. It should now.

THIS PATCH IS NOT ACTIVE YET- I PLAN TO UPLOAD IT IN LATER NOVEMBER/EARLY DECEMBER

Weird bug: I did the Green Legion fight and after I was asked if I wanted to keep the Green Legion armour on or go back to my shaman clothes.

But after choosing to change back I was then asked the same question again only this time it was light armour instead of shaman clothes so I picked the light armour choice as I thought it was just a weird error or something and now my orc is wearing the light clothes. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

The plan for my orc isn’t going well… :sweat_smile: I wanted my orc to be a shaman of some kind that travels the world and is all Krog like in being who maybe one day takes over for Snooky but instead my dude in fights and battles all of the time and now there is talk of him being the next chief… :scream:

@Sujan_Dhakal

Sadly no and I’ve just gone past it but if I get it again in another playthrough I will.

@NumberedEntity

I won by taking the king’s head.

And it’s fine really I’m still having fun seeing where fate leads my orc especially as right now he’s taken over as shaman however he’s also the leader of the new orc city at the same time. :sweat_smile:

I’ve never gotten that bug, you got screenshots?

Hi Max, this is the first time I’ve heard such an error, it is very odd! Bloody goblins chewing at the code!

All choices should lead you away from the battle, after selection to keep or change your gear. Could you please tell me if you won the battle or if you fled?

I will examine the code to try and track any errors down. Like @Sujan_Dhakal said, if it happens again please let me know- and a screenshot could be a big help. You can always PM me if you prefer.

I must say, your orc sounds like a rather skilled chap to have the makings of a chief or shaman! Hope it doesn’t ruin your fun with the game. In the meantime, would reloading an earlier checkpoint help?

I am planning to release a patch in early December- unfortunately, this will reset all player’s progress so I am procrastinating with it. If I can find what caused this error, I’ll fix it in this patch.

Thanks for playing my game and joining the horde!

Omg! my ending was amazing :laughing: my orc became a god like I so wasn’t even expecting that to be an ending when I first started playing and especially not on my first playthrough but damn it was so much fun discovering what fate had in store for my little orc next as many times something would happen or become a thing that I just wasn’t expecting. :rofl:

I have to say one of the things I loved much about this game is that it really does feel like a true choose your own adventure style game. :star_struck:

However, I will also say that at first I was bothered that we didn’t have the normal character customization or normal stuff you would see in a life-simulator game but by the end it didn’t matter to me because it felt like every new action my orc took influenced his development in some way and it feels like unless I actually try I won’t have the same orc twice. :blush:

@NumberedEntity

You could also have it so that some embellishments, tattoos and jewellery can only be acquired through certain events and by visiting different parts of the world for example by joining the Green Legion or spending a year at mountain the temple.

Hi Max!

Thanks for the fantastic comments- so glad you enjoyed life on the green side! One of my goals was to make a cyoa adventure title, similar to Fighting fantasy and Lone Wolf.

It is interesting what you said, about the character creation thing. I think this will put some people off- although the novelty may also hook some people (I hope). I use the young orc periods as a, sort of, extended character creator, but it is hardly the same as some the in-depth customisation options offered elsewhere. In my defence, you’re an orc, big and tusky with green eyes, who might have a paunch.

A fun free update might be to have a place where your orc can get embellishments, tattoos, tusk jewellery and the like- with a corresponding note on the stats screen. This could satisfy customization junkies a bit more. Hmmm… this might be an easy thing to implement, a very basic update to slip into the next patch. I shall see! Oh- and this would also give you a place to spend some of the loot as, mostly, orcs just make a shiny pile of it to stare at.

I appreciate your time playing my game and even more for your comment. These always make my day- well the good comments anyway :slight_smile:
:green_square: + :boar: = orc!

Folks- feel free to suggest tats and piercings- or other body decorations, which might be fitting for an orc- Note, this will purely be cosmetic and only mentioned in the stats screen- just a little fun extra content I might add.

I might have some ideas. Some Chieftains have tattoos that signify their leadership, like mythological creatures for example, some represent strength, willpower, leadership, or infamy. Chieftains also embellish themselves with as much loot as they can like earrings, piercings, necklaces, like above mentioned, they have to be earned through certain events and actions, and through gaining certain allies.

Orc Gladiators have tattoos sometimes, weapons represent on how a gladiator fights, like a sword, spear, dagger, etc… There is a chance gladiators can have battle scars because of the constant arena fights. Maybe the Orc can get gladiator scars. Maybe there is also a tattoo for the MC achieving the title "The Great Green Git " for defeating the demonic champion. An Orc in Gladiator Armor raising his sword

Orc Raiders also have battle scars because they raid other clans and battle each other. If the MC becomes Scourge of the Plains after a number of raids, that qualifies for a tattoo, the tattoo for that mentioned title is a heavily armored orc riding a big boar

When the MC becomes the Dark Lord, the Pantheon of the Beyond and Below should give him signs and/or symbols as well as tattoos that represent the Dark Pantheon. Achieving the title "Power of Beyond and Below " (Meaning the sole god of the Dark Pantheon) qualifies for a tattoo, an hooded evil orc with demonic wings

Adventurers have tattoos and embellishments as well, it depends on how the MC does in certain adventures. Uniting the Elves and Dwarves in one certain quest qualifies for a tattoo, meeting the sea folk also qualifies for a tattoo as well as some embellishments, there might be a chance sea folk have treasures that can be given to the Orc MC in the Adventurer Path. There might be also a tattoo for the Orc MC and the Adventurer’s Guild for stopping the demonic threat in the final quest and achieving the title "Light of the Empire ". Maybe an Orc with the people of the Adventurer’s Guild raising their one arm representing victory against the demonic threat.

Shamans can also have tattoos that represent the god they worship, in this case there should be a Krog Tattoo for the chosen shaman as well as rune writings as tattoos, the rune tattoos can glow if the MC casts spells, curses, and incantations but that is it.

What about Big Bellies? They are a unique type of orc class that eats a lot and partakes eating competitions and feasts. I can’t give a tattoo to the World Devourer as the Orc MC dies from that, but I can give tattoos to other things like Blogga’s Feast, Belly of the Ages (A Meat Bucket being thrown out), Hellfire Guts (A huge hunk of mutton that is on fire or a bucket of Hell Grog (There is no way I am drinking that sun’s heat of that hot sauce) with the top being on fire), and the Gold Dragon Haggis Feat (Literally what the food is, a Gold Dragon Haggis (It is like a very huge turkey)).

What about the Freelancer Path? The Smaller Jobs don’t really qualify for a tattoo as they don’t really play a huge role, for the much bigger and grander jobs like in Grandardgard and New Shires. Lets just say some of them qualify. The Dreaming Players and/or the Crew of the Phoenix might give tattoos are embellishments. As for the New Shires, let’s just say after constantly working hard for the halflings, they celebrate the Orc MC’s hard work with a feast. That qualifies for a tattoo and some embelishments.

Now for the complex part, the young orc’s adventures. The MC has a lot of opportunities to gain knowledge, skills, and allies. We get to the allies section, there are a lot of ways the MC can get them. Saving the future Marichioness can qualify for a Naga Tattoo and Jewelries, helping Ser Snorc (Either through giving your all, enchanting his gear with shaman tricks, or winning the Joust in his name) also qualifies for a tattoo for signifying friendship, helping future Foreign Leigon Leader Roroc also qualifies, after all criminal groups have tattoos, joining the Green Leigon also qualifies, even Leigonares have tattoos and embelishments, becoming Krog’s Chosen in the Orc Temple also qualifies, albet a single eye representing Krog for a tattoo, forming the Band of MC after winning against Local Orcs also qualifies for a tattoo as the symbol of Band’s Unity.

Then there is the events section, there are various tournamnets held in the capital the Orc MC can partake in, like the Joust for example, if the MC reveals himself after winning, he can get a tattoo for this, Contest of Agilites is another example, winning that contest gives the MC a tattoo of the five rings, a reference to the Olympics, the Grandardgard Fighting Competition, the Melee Contest, this also qualifies for a tattoo, an Orc suplexing a muscular human. Not officially an event, but there is the Ogre, out-eating it awards the MC with the title "Mighty Guts ", that qualifies for a tattoo, an orc standing over a bloated ogre

There is the Young Orc Chapter. With a few options because the MC stays in the clan most of the time, the Barracks, Shaman, and Scouting paths are the only options.

In the Barracks section, the MC is chosen to be a Raider Grub (Elites) or Raider Dreg (Noobs) depending on certain situations, the MC can do good or poorly in either the Boar Obstacle Course or the Brawl Section of the Barracks Path. There are situations where the MC becomes Raider Grub on special circumstances like Cursing your Brawling Partner in the Shaman Path (Not to be confused with the Mature Orc Chapter), or Losing to Grancor as your Brawling Partner. Being Raider Grub qualifies for a tattoo for significance.

There is a lot of work for the Shaman Path, but the more significant is if the MC becomes Krog Branded and messages the other clans for Orcon’s Return. Since the MC went to different clans, he should be given tattoos and embellishments from those clans.

And there is a scouting path, not much happens in that path. But the one thing I can mention is the Abyss Belly Achievement, for the MC winning a pie eating contest. That qualifies for a tattoo, a fitting stack of pies.

There might be more possibilities for gaining tattoos and embellishments, but it would take too long for me to list them all

Maybe make it so that some tattoo types are just commonly picked by a lotta orcs due to their significance in their culture. Like boar tattoos for boar riders because they love boars, warriors have a variety of multiple weapons or even skull tattoo designs depending on what they like to wield in battle, and the big bellied farting food lovers have a bunch of snack-themed tattoos or even art of the various races that they like to eat.

A dragon tattoo can only be etched into your body if you slay a dragon, a tattoo that signifies you being an elite warrior of the tribe that has achieved significant victories, a tattoo for chieftains that mark them as leaders, etc…

@Patrick_Cody02 @J.D_Inquisitor

These are excellent! Patrick, I think I may lift dome of your designs! And J.D, I agree, having some ‘generic’ tattoos mixed in with event specific ones is the way to go.

I do not want to create too much work for myself at this time. I plan to have a tat shop available only in the tribal hubs- so you will not get tattoos just for doing something. But, if you have achieved certain variables, like killing a dragon, having a demon transformation or winning the eating contest, certain tattoos will appear as an option- for a small amount of loot, among the generic ones. This means later game paths will not have access to the shop- too much code fiddling and I must limit the possibility of injecting bugs. It might work best as a *go_sub

As I said, I will mention them on the stats page but not anywhere else. This can always be embellished upon later. For now, it is an experiment with adding a little bit of new content. The tattoos will give a relevant stats boost.

I knew I could count on the horde for amazing ideas!

EDIT: I will try to start work on this in a couple of weeks. It should not take long. I probably need to add a new screen to the stats too because I know how long some of them can get.
