If he even crazier if he used original German. But the old holy Roman empire has some of the most interesting it’s not fun titles specially when you look at the evolution. The guys a elector is huge there’s only a handful full of them in the empire. If I’m not mistaken there is anywhere between 200 to 400 states within the Empire. And about 20 electors. This image here is the picture of the different states and vassals that were under the reign of the most powerful dynasty of the old Holy Roman empire during the Middle Ages. Interestingly up their death is what caused the interregnum
Yes, who doesn’t enjoy being locked away and never allowed to see friends, family, or even just sunlight while under the fear you might be knifed for offending your “lover”. Romantic indeed.
It’s highly possible that what you see of Lothar is a facade to hide something underneath, but it’s not impossible for someone to fall in love at first sight either so I won’t rule out that he might be genuine.
I had a professor who fell in love at first sight and asked the lady to marry him within the first 24 hours of meeting her. She said yes, by the way.
OK. Thanks for sharing that @locria!
@Rogar German is crazy lol. I just wrote a German test and I want to cry. That map also makes me want to cry lol.
But yes, it is something similar in this world. There are hundreds of nobles, but anywhere between 15-30 electors at a time, depending on how many princes there are.
@Scorpio00 Totally romantic lol /s. Most people in the court wear masks. Nobody is really genuine anyway.
In honour of my procrastination, I actually wrote up a little something on the continent! Yay! But there’s no map yet because that’s on my other laptop that’s back home, soI might draw up another one in the mean time, or post it once I go home. Countries go east to west.
Under cut because it is hella long
Trepheliya
A nomadic empire that spans the eastern steppe that is slowly urbanizing. It was once a confederation of five nomadic tribes. A mostly isolated nation due to its remoteness and harsh weather, but maintains its wealth through its massive deposits of minerals. Independence is considered the most desirable trait.
Avonia
Formerly a powerful kingdom, the ruling family was overthrown in 347 by the disgruntled military to form a stratocracy. Known for their aggressive foreign policy and even more aggressive internal policies. They are often eager to expand their territory due to being a mostly agricultural nation. Duty and patriotism are most valued in their society.
Alayonte
A wealthy and mostly peaceful kingdom. Blest with fertile lands and bountiful natural resources, it is often considered one of the best places to live. Their royal family once had questionable breeding practices, but have for the past several centuries made smart marriage choices to ensure peace. Duty and propriety are most important in their society.
Illisione
A once-powerful kingdom that is slowly recovering from a long civil war. A mercantile nation with long coastlines, allowing for easy trade. They have regained most of their former glory, but there are still disgruntled nobles and commoners that break the peace. Unity and familial piety are the pillars of their society.
Sylvatore
A vast empire spanning most of the central continent. Their large size is mostly made of fertile lands and natural resources, which funds most of its wealth. Battles for the throne are not uncommon, nor are family feuds. Honour and glory are the most sought after traits.
Severie
A once wealthy kingdom marred by internal strife. For the past while, it has always been on the verge of collapse. There are numerous rebel factions fighting both the government and each other. Honour and unity used to be valued.
Veserone-Pryte
Two countries that joined together, the former being a collapsed empire, and the latter being a poor duchy. They have rebuilt to become a peaceful nation that maintains its influence through strategic marriages, and their hold on the northwestern coast. Diplomacy and intelligence are greatly valued.
Maren
An island off the west of the continent that is shrouded in mystery. They maintain an isolationist policy, but have minor diplomatic ties to Avonia and Veserone-Pryte. The island itself is abundant in resources, allowing them to maintain such policy. Patriotism and altruism are considered invaluable.
Selearn
An extravagant empire built upon the remnants of the Essenian Empire. It was founded upon the Essenian Principles, something strictly adhered to even now. Battles for the crown are common due to the inner palace’s harem. Devotion and piety are what society seeks.
Essenia
The old empire of the continent that collapsed over 500 years ago. Their imperial family was rumoured to have descended from a god.
Vissilus
The predecessor of Essenia. A nation said to have been ruled by Magi, but mysteriously collapsed one day. It is said that a castaway goddess founded it.
I’ll do a few more write-ups in the next few weeks.
[ * Immediately screeches at an inaudible decibel, shattering all glass within range. ] You’ve played it?! My gosh, that makes me so happy! Don’t worry, the fanbase adores Strade. He seems to be a favourite, if the amount of fanart and fanfiction I’ve seen for that crazy, snuff-film filming German is anything to go by.
Was it just me or was Rire kind of… forgettable in the wake of Strade, Sano, Akira, and Ren? I mean, Ren wasn’t romanceable, but still.
Oh, you have to play BtD2: Fresh Blood. I’m enamoured with Cain, and Damien! Even though the latter technically isn’t a route. Vincent is my precious baby, and I want to protect him forever and always.
Til Death do us Part is really good too. You get to live more often than you don’t! Isn’t that nice? It’s so fun! I’ve completed Marcus and Chris, because I adore Chris. Marcus, though…?
Well, I feel like he epitomises the kind of yandere most people are used to seeing. Personally, I prefer yandere characters that would rather die than hurt their beloved in anyway. But, that’s just me. Marcus’ was an… interesting one. Freaking arsehole.
After hearing about the doll ending for this game, he might even be a similar kind to the potential yandere in this one. Because, for all we know, when you said @Snowflower was close, maybe the character isn’t a yan-dere, but rather a yan-gire? Or something else?
Lookie, I actually managed to bring it back on topic! Wow, and I also managed to talk about BtD and its spiritual successor without talking about the darker stuff in it! I think I’ll have to reward myself for that!
EDIT
Whoopsie doopsie, poopsie! Almost forgot! I’d been contemplating it, but I finally downloaded and started Cinderella Phenomenon because of you mentioning it~! I’m playing in order, so I won’t be getting to Varg anytime soon. I finished Rod’s storyline last night, and cried myself to sleep after the completionist in me insisted I get his bad ending out of the way… and my curiosity forcing me to actually watch it! No! Do not want!
When he get back, I’m going to hug him.
Same here if I had to choose (and somehow had ended up choosing to romance a/the yandere character)…
But it might have to do with my selfish need to not have my MC killed.
Im not big on gender locked games (I like to role play myself as a male) but this does sound good. I am a hopless romantic, so I think im going to have to try it out!
Hopefully, he won’t shove you off
The greatest dynasty of the medieval Holy Roman Empire produced really two good Emperors then fizzled out. Articulate Frederick the first Barbarossa
And Frederick II the stupor mundi who was a Sicilian polymath. A renowned poet artist and Proto scientist along with being an able administrator and reform of laws. But he absolutely love pissing off the Pope’s. He literally almost got back Jerusalem through a several months long hot box section with the current ruler. Again the pope did not like him excommunicated him so the holy orders and his vassals kind of left. Now mind you the reason the pope wasn’t a fan. If he ruled both Germany Northern Italy and was a king of the entirety of the Sicily’s. Also wouldn’t think it’s good as policy is because he literally grew up in Palermo is bass a power was always Southern it away and he neglected his German subjects. So when he died in the sun wasn’t able to hold on to the throne and it kind of fell apart and led to the interregnum. Which was the first major blow to the Holy Roman Empire. I think it was here a hundred forty years without out King of the Romans being crowned. So my good woman is there anyone like these fellows in your Misty past/lore.
@locria Congratulations - you’ve hooked me up to your game It’s rarely that I’m not sure which RO I’ll be after, but all of them are picking my interest now. Even Oscar and believe me, usually I don’t like the childhood friend trope at all. So I think I’ll wait for the next update to decide which way my MC will go. Or I’ll go for the Count, or not…
See what you’ve done - that’s what I call great characters and writing! Thank you
BtD, don't read through this if you don't like dark/horror games like this
I cracked and downloaded the two games this morning because of you lol. I’ve gone through the three routes once in BtD2, died each time . Lawrence has my heart right now, he’s so cute! Except for that I got the ending where I presume he leaves us to die by scaphism
.
Same deal for Till Death Do Us Part, except I lived each time. I kinda really liked Jack, outside of the maggots. Chris was okay, not my cup of tea. Marcus was super easy to play through though, since I knew he was a yandere. I think that in itself is a bit troubling lol.
I’m glad you’re enjoying Cinderella Phenomenon! The bad endings aren’t as bad as some other games like Nightshade or Nameless.
About yanderes, I agree with you and @Ventura. In my opinion, a good yandere would rather die than hurt their love, though there are some times that it doesn’t apply see Tei from Nameless. I guess it’d be better to say they would only hurt their love to protect them, but YMMV.
@Umbreonpanda @Anathema Oskar would probably shove you off though, let’s be honest. His goodbye was a one-off thing lol.
@Tristin_McComas @lo6otia I’m glad this caught your interest!
@Rogar Oh, I remember reading about Frederick Barbarossa. There are some real crappy / quirky rulers though, so I’ll put them under the cut.
Some tidbits on a few of the interesting rulers on the continent. I'll do more of them later.
Duke Iringó of Váreszka, Grand Duke of Trepheliya | The female duke who conquered the eastern steppe. Ruled for about seven years before dying under mysterious circumstances. Gained the moniker ‘the Goddess of War’ because of her never losing a battle. A genius tactician and eccentric who greatly admired Velibor.
King Velibor of Nairesty | He was killed by Iringó during her conquests, and known for his charisma and benevolence toward his people. However, he was utterly ruthless and cruel toward his enemy. Another military genius in his own right who was said to have been born under an unlucky star. Deeply infatuated with Iringó.
King Fitzroy of Selearn; Emperor of Selearn | An eccentric bastard who led his kingdom to become an empire. He despised the religious aspect of his kingdom, but played along in order to gain support. Against their traditions, he married the daughter of a pagan duke from Pryte, and did not take on any other consorts.
Emperor Theodoor II of Sylvatore | Another eccentric, who unlike his father, was not a tyrant. Kickstarted the industrial revolution in his nation because of his love for machinery, and doted on his illegitimate half-sister. Looked very scary, but was actually a softy at heart.
_Emperor Gerlach of Sylvatore | An utterly ineffective and useless sovereign. His mother had helped him take back the throne from his cousin, but he was more interested in his studies than anything, and was far too mild for his position. His wife, Empress Margaretha, had to deal with court from the background for his entire reign.
Empress Thyrza of Sylvatore | The only female to ever seize the throne for herself. Her father had been unable to inherit, so he lived his dream through her after faking his death. In order to earn his approval, she became ambitious for the throne and took it from Gerlach. She was a very effective ruler for the two years she reigned. She fell in love with her prime minister, who ended up betraying and killing her.
Emperor Ijsbrand of Sylvatore | A ruthless and ambitious emperor who murdered his brother out of jealousy and married his fiancée. Many feared him, but he was a surprisingly good ruler. Went mad in the later half of his reign when his wife killed herself.
Emperor Rembrandt of Sylvatore | A gentle and mild-mannered emperor who was well-liked before being murdered by his brother. Had a very short reign and was set to marry the sister of King Velibor.
Emperor Landerik of Sylvatore | An incredibly charismatic and popular emperor who conquered Drevutius after he accused them of assassinating his father. He was later murdered in return by their surviving royal, Princess Vaidota, who was rumoured to have been his lover.
Empress Marjolein of Sylvatore | A girl forced upon the throne after her father’s death. She was little more than a puppet for her uncle, the regent, and was subject to an assassination attempt as a child. She survived, but lost her memories after a long coma, and effectively lost whatever little influence she had left. She died not long after reawakening. Rumoured to have been involved with one of the court mages.
But if we make good choices the ROs do genuinely fall in love with Sasha right?
She sounds amazing. Will we be able to learn about the conquest in any way? That’s definitely a story I would love to hear. Also, who did she conquered it from? What people lived in the eastern steppe and are they still around?
I gotta say, this world is getting more and more interesting. The magic rules and the history of the continent it’s adding a depth I wasn’t quite expecting. Do you plan on having this information somewhere in the game? Through conversations with characters, local myths and legends or books or whatever? It just seems like a waste not to be able to learn this stuff outside of this forum.
Can we marry Friedrich?
I think I’ll put it under the cut again since this is now quite unrelated to what this thread is about, but I need to talk to somebody about these amazing games, damnit!
Boyfriend to Death
[ * Beams. ] Glad I convinced you. Lawrence is a darling but… I have to ask… have you unlocked Ren? I love Lawrence, I love Vincent, and I love Cain. But my favourite route is Ren’s. He’s just so precious! Plus, out of both BtD games, he has the most survival endings.
And he’s also just the cutest, fox boy I’ve ever had the pleasure of dating! I just wanna pet him, spoil him, and nurture him always and forever~!
TDDUP was really easy, all things considered. I liked Jack too! He very definitely cares about you. I stumbled into a survival ending, and aww’d when I found out that your birthday is the passcode to his secret kink room. It’s sweet in a morbid way. He’s using you to hide this massive secret from you.
Also… did you get the sex scene in the shower? I realised how messed up that scene was after the temperature play scene in his kink room. I was a little disturbed when I realised why he was so surprised to hear you speak to him.
Marcus was easy, huh? He was the first guy that I have actually collected ALL of the endings for in these three games. Have you looked at the girls’ routes yet? I haven’t, but I’m really curious.
In my opinion, that’s what a proper yandere is, though. Someone that would only turn to harming their precious one if all other options had been taken. I feel pretty confident that the doll bad ending will be from the potentially-yandere character. If it is, I would hope that’s it’s more a state of immobile immortality, (this blur is about BtD again) like in Sano’s route.
@cookiemonsta Pretty much if you make it till the end of the route, all of the ROs will be genuinely in love with Alexandra. Good choices will lead to the good end, but I will say that the relationship bar is a bit misleading. That doesn’t actually impact the ending you get, rather it is the measurement of how fond of Alexandra the RO is. Some good ends will require lowering that bar.
@Anathema I’m actually slowly writing her story. She’s a pretty old figure in this game (the actual game starts in 505, she died in 100), and there’s not a lot of information available to most other countries.
Some more info on her that isn't necessary for the game
She was the one who united the five tribes of Trepheliya. She originally came from the weakest one, but outwitted the others and forcibly annexed them. Afterward, she went on to conquer Nairesty and Virlechyk, thus uniting the eastern steppe before stepping aside and allegedly passing away from complications of rheumatic fever.
I’m so happy you’re enjoying this world! It’s been my baby for far too long now . There will be some bits on history and geography, but magic will only be lightly touched on, same with religion.
@Snowflower Definitely not marry. He’s either not interested in relationships or wants something less ephemeral than marriage.
@xXOtakuKonekoXx Personally, I agree that that’s what a yandere is, but I know there are others who may disagree. But the doll ending isn’t even the worst one.
@locria
Then just what is Friedrich anyway? Is he a demigod?
A game that revolves around romance and has a female protagonist, but she’s straight? FML
Yup… I’m still sad that he have to be send away. Speaking of which, what exactly is our relationship with Fredrick? Is he like… our uncle or a family friend?
