Well, we can’t really tell one way or the other until we actually find out Forlorn and Seeker’ secrets…
Yeah, this is perfectly fair. If you check out the character profiles, you’ll note that unlike everyone else, Dark Star wasn’t actually invited to the League, he was “forced” into it as part of government meddling, something that will actually be brought up in the story proper at the end of Chapter 3 + beginning of Chapter 4.
As for the ROs, I’m glad Mars also drew your attention, and yes, I definitely have plans for Forlorn and Seeker to (depending on the MC’s choice, of course) become the MC’s stalwart allies, despite whoever you choose to romance.
That aside, and this may be getting a bit ahead of myself, but my plans for the story aren’t really concluded in one book, and there’s a chance that Forlorn and the MC could end up as something more in the next installment.
Aw, all of that is so exciting!
And of course I’ve checked the profiles - I lurk everywhere haha!
I don’t envy Dark Star’s situation, to be honest. But I’m also very interested in learning more about him, so I’m glad it’ll get expanded upon, even if he doesn’t have a relationship stat.
Interestingly, Seeker is the character I have the weakest opinion about. Not as in “a poor opinion”, but I simply don’t know what to think about him. I don’t dislike him, but I don’t feel a lot of affinity yet, aside from thinking he’s cool because swords.
Ah, well, the beginning of Chapter 3 has a choice that allows you to bunk with Seeker for a night, so I hope that will serve as a way to cement your opinion on him, one way or the other.
Also, if you don’t mind checking out the Tumblr (although you might have had already, with the lurking and all
), I have shared two long-ish posts there, one about Seeker and the other about Forlorn, which should help gain some insight into the two of them.
Which, speaking of, the next interview will come tomorrow! Get ready to meet the League’s charmer!
Ah, I had checked the tumblr and subscribed, but didn’t read yet at the time you mentionned it - got back to check these two posts though! Not enough for me to cement my opinion on Seeker, so I’ll be waiting for the updates, but both were nice non the less. Thanks for redirecting me!
Hey, by the way, I have updated the Demo with the fixes mentioned earlier, alongside some of the bugs that I had to work out. I also included an option to not dance with anyone, which allows you to see how Forlorn and Seeker interact when (well, nearly) alone with each other.
Okay, back to working on Chapter 3!
so is this inspired by BnHA???
How far reaching is the definition for “energy” the energy blaster the MC uses? Does it include things like fire and lightning or is it only limited to generic laser blaster?
Also, what’s the statistics of powered in a population? Do they constitute only, on average, for example 1% of 100 or 1 person per 100?
it’s a generic blaster, yeah. it’s hot, as implied during the fight with the Burning Man, but you won’t be calling down elements to use in battle. Fire is a specific type of power, as you’ve seen, and there hasn’t really been anyone capable of using lightning, due to how fast it is.
I haven’t decided yet on the exact number of powered beings, and the government alone doesn’t really have a proper census, since many powers are unnoticeable unless you’re looking for them.
there’s also the fact that poor countries, like most of Latin/South America and some parts of Africa, don’t really have a way to properly find out superpowers, which makes it so that people there only find out they have powers when they burn down their house or something.
There are more powered beings in the US than just the League, of course, but not all of them act as heroes, nor do they all act at all.
Take this as a figure subject to change, but, for now, powered heroes are more or less 1 for every 500,000 normal people.
Thank you for answering my questions! I have more if you don’t mind answering them though.
the existence of Senator what’shisface and his platform of “regulating and controlling” powereds seems to imply the existence of anti-powered sentiment within the masses, which is understandable due to the existence of villains, how common is such sentiment among the masses?
But there are powereds with powers similar to lightning yes? Just uncontrollable due to the nature of what they’re playing with.
No problem! And please, go absolutely nuts with what you want to ask, discussing the lore is a huge reason for why I created this thread in the first place!
it’s somewhat of a fringe movement. it exists, and there are definitely some people (both in the government and the public at large) who are huge proponents of it, but at the beginning of the story, they’re not that widespread.
A lot of the negative feelings for heroes is more individual than a bone to grind with the entire concept. Seeker, for example, is a controversial figure due to the actions done before and during the atomic bombings of Japan, and Ignis herself is disliked by a large part of Stratton’s supporters, while people like Forlorn are respected by both sides.
Likewise, a large portion of the government is aware of how dangerous it could be to try and force a collar on the people faster than jets and that can level city blocks with not much issue. Not to mention what they could do if they actually wanted to cause wanton destruction.
Of course, this is at the beginning of the story. Right now, “hero regulation” is a position taken by, say, 5% of the US population. Depending on how badly things deteriorate, that number might increase… exponentially.
And no, that isn’t foreshadowing at all. Why do you ask? ![]()
There could be, yes. Nova’s powers theoretically grant him some (rather low, of course) level of manipulation of electricity, due to his mastery of technology and what have you.
Of course, the existence of lightning powered people also depends on whether they’re manipulating/creating actual cloud-to-ground lightning or just creating an energy attack with similar properties.
My questions regarding the lore has been satiated for now, though I’ll come back tommorow with more. But for now, my next questions are unrelated to the lore and more about the series as a whole.
What was your inspiration for writing a tale of heroes? And did you base off the characters out of people you knew or were they all originals?
And now I want to ask another question haha.
If you don’t consider that too spoilery to answer, is that something the players / MC’s actions will be able to influence, one way or another? Like, succeeding in certain missions, playing your cards well when talking to certain people, favoring civilian lives over capturing some criminals… that kind of stuff.
Also, a more lore related question.
Can a powered “grow” a new power with time? Not talking about someone discovering new ways to use their power or new aspects of that power, but actually something entirely new that would appear someday.
And on a side note, do animal related powers exist? Half-beast people or people who transform into animals, or possess some kind of animal abilities or whatever?
Apologies for not answering sooner guys, real life popped up. ![]()
When I was younger, me and my family traveled a lot between cities for a variety of reasons. Something I really enjoyed doing to pass the time then was to create worlds in my mind and see how I could interact with it, or just insert myself into a setting I was a fan of and inserting myself into it.
The idea proper for A Tale of Heroes came to me as I was walking home from the dentist (and ironically enough, Aki was the first character I created), but the way it developed was me taking bits and pieces from my pastime and taking it to a… more logical route, I suppose you could say, now that I’m older.
They’re all original. There might be some similarities with characters from DC and/or Marvel, but the ideas behind them are all my creation.
The one that comes the most closely to any “real life” comparison is probably Nova, since I have somewhat of a first-hand experience in the environment he grew up in.
Please, go nuts with questions! As the OP mentions, I love talking ![]()
There will be a chance for the MC to affect it somewhat, yeah. Your choices on how to deal with the public, how far you’re willing to go to capture a villain, and etc will all matter in how the public perceives the heroes.
However.
A reckoning is coming. The League has had a rather easy time so far of stopping villains, helping with disasters, and not causing any large scale destruction, and the people are happy with it.
But what happens when that is no longer possible? What happens when the only way to stop a monster is to sacrifice a quarter of a city? What happens when a hero’s ideals or self-interest clash with what the government wants, like what happened between Seeker and the US during WW2? What happens when a hero’s past comes roaring for revenge on a warpath that doesn’t care who they hurt? What happens when a hero snaps, and the people realize that the only thing keeping them from hurting hundreds, maybe thousands, is a level of self-control that can no longer be relied upon?
The answers to those questions are coming, and both powered and non-powered will have to come to terms with them.
Not quite, no. The power you’re born with is the one you’ll have. Sometimes, a person might have powers for years, and then, through one experience or another, come to realize that they were only using a sub-ability of what their power was.
But normally, no. A person can’t just sprout a new power by training or needing them.
That doesn’t mean a person can’t gain new powers or abilities by some other method.
All that and a bag of chips is fair game, yes. Nothing quite as extensive as the Ani-Powered from Heroes Rise, but there definitely exist powers that allow a person to channel animalistic capabilities, or to purely transform into a werewolf and etc.
Smells like bureaucracy, which is about as subtle as someone with a gas problem in an elevator.
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/783002855405256766/822376136238956634/unknown.png i am unable to use save state feature, sorry if it’s not a bug or something wrong on my side.
Apologies for that, it should be fixed now! I had deleted the save command in order to quicktest when I updated the game a few days ago and forgot to re-add it.
Hey! So, one little question. How fast will we be able to fly? Will we be able to compare to Aki? And if we do, will a race be an option?
Actually, more questions, (sorry).
How does the power scale work? When the mc gets full power practice, will we be as capable as ignis with energy wielding? And our fisical strenght? But more precisely, how powerful in general will we be? Because it seems that the scale will be at least: Aki< Mc<Forlorn. Did I misunderstand?
Sorry if I’m asking spoiler questions.
But about the lore… Who was the strongest individual to ever live? And… Does everyone receive the same message in their minds as us an Lat did in ours?
By the way: you are amazing, the wip is fantastic, I really hope you eventually publish it:
No races, or at least no on-screen ones as far as I have planned out so far, but yeah, matching up to Aki will be a possibility!
Please, don’t apologize, I love fielding questions! ![]()
Do you mean, how do the members of the team rank in battle prowess?
Not really, no. Ignis and the MC have different powers, so you won’t be able to match the same creations she does.
Think of Ignis as a Green Lantern, creating constructs and stuff, while the MC is more…

By the end of the game? You’ll probably be more or less a decent sparring mate to Forlorn.
That may be what it looks like now, but you should note that no one has actually seen Aki fight, since Forlorn always shows her up.
What you have seen so far might be the case, or it might not.
Two people.
The legendary couple that ruled Crete during the second half of the 10th Century, after beating back both the Andalusians and the Byzantines:
The Blitz Queen and The Broken King.
You’ll learn more about them in Chapter 3, although their profiles are already in the game files if you know how to code-dive. ![]()
No, they do not.
Interesting, isn’t it?
Thank you so much! I’m really happy to hear whenever someone enjoys my work, I’m glad you liked it!
many thanks and thankyou for such an amazing WIP
