Or they may go to prison, you don’t go directly to jail, you’ll have to face a trial first which you may win or you could lose, one which btw Ignis told us she’d pay us the legal fees for

This bruh The Mc Just doesnt feel Like a character to me we cant even customize them the only thing that really sets them apart is the other mc in their head and their potential Its a great story don’t get me wrong just wish the mc was a little more fleshed out

Youve hit the nail on the head for me too.

I didnt feel like there was much difference. Especially having everyone use the same word makes it even more like its just one person, multiple bodies instead.

There’s already choices which flag MC as being very much against the whole thing and only joining because he has to. They increase reluctance counter, as opposed to acceptance or nonchalant (neutral attitude) MCs attitude colors their monologues and such in certain spots.

I mean sure, but what @Vicky_ThePanda seems to be asking for is more of those choices.

I don’t know man, after arriving at the team HQ MC just goes along with everything

During the training the MC feels way more enthusiastic than before

Mc goes to save the day with forlorn and others against the fire guy on their own accords when they could’ve just stayed behind, forlorn didn’t even want them there

MC almost becomes friends with the guys who almost killed him a week or two ago (You can argue that they also saved MC but that doesn’t excuses them trying to kill MC)

After that i only remember the new president guy asking you if you are happy with joining the team

The action is the same but the reasoning behind it is different, depending on how reluctant MC is:

"Wait! What about me?" you jump in before you can even think about it.

*if (reluctance = 2)
Of course you speak up. The League may have taken you in, but it's not like they did it for free. Facing these monsters is how you pay rent. It's how you justify not going to jail. Might as well be proactive.

"What do I have to do?" you ask the muscular leader.
*if (reluctance = 1)
People are in danger. Real, life-ending danger. How pissed you might be about the way you joined the team, or at the fact your life turned into this, that doesn't change that this is how your life is. You have the power to help.

"What can I do?" you ask again, resolute.

*if (reluctance = 0)
Your training isn't over, true. You're still in the top 5 of most powerful people in the scene. You're not standing here while everyone else risks their lives trying to help as much as possible. That isn't what you are being trained for.

"Where do you want me, Forlorn?" you ask again, your gaze matching that of your leader.

MC who didn’t want to join isn’t staying behind because they don’t fancy going to jail. They don’t want to risk acting up like a little pissant.

Not going into a active terrorist attack because of inexperience isn’t going to get you jailed
No one even asked you to come, when you speak up forlorn is even reluctant to let you join
You had no reason to go except for that single reason of “Paying rent”, which you didn’t even have to do at that time since nobody asked

It’s a plot relevant event so MC has to go of course, and this reason of “Paying rent”, works here if you ignore the fact that it literally goes against the reluctant attitude of MC

Regardless i just asked for more varied reactions and dialogues from MC in the future

It’s fine, but i think it’s worth to realize that you’re effectively asking to have the cast walk on eggshells around your MC throwing a tantrum and… they have no real obligation to. The MC was offered some goodwill, but there’s little reason for that to last if they insist on being uncooperative.

What’s even the point. At that point you’re actively fighting the plot moving forwards, eventually you have to acquiesce to the fact that the game about being on a super hero team is going to make you work with the team.

The point is MC having basic human reactions with consistency zzzz i know this is a superhero story but it doesn’t mean i have to just overlook everything else which Constitutes to like the other 50% of the story

other characters are not obligated to listen or deal with MCs non cooperation but that doesn’t mean Making MC magically forget his issues when plot calls for it is fair either

And seriously is asking for MC to have a consistent personality really that big of a issue?

The MC DOES have a consistent personality. If you’ve set him as someone who doesn’t want to be there, they don’t want to be there, but they have to anyway. That’s not interfering with the MC’s personality.

Also to contextualize the fire fight, you are already on the scene. WTF is the MC supposed to do, turn around and go “nah guys I’m out” in front of the entire team? That’s an amazing way to make everyone hate you. Forlorn doesn’t want you there because you’re a newbie, but you are there which he acknowledges and accepts.

Realistically if the MC threw a fit over being forced to do superheroics you’d just get benched and thrown off the team. Like, if you aren’t gonna play ball there’s no point in having you around.

Then show… not tell… MC only ever shows their reluctance when someone asks

i hardly ever see them show it normally, we see forlorn acting rude and serious all the time, seeker drunk and aloof most of the time let MC be more Guarded amongst people who once tried to MURDER them for sometime

MC doesn’t show their reluctance they display internally because they hold the view it is something they can’t afford to do. That’s not inconsistency, it’s just a mindset you don’t share with them.

I may have to read that path. When im able to ignore everyone breaking character and saying ,yeah. Some dont read as “hip” and “jive”, Forlorn specific.

When i can ignore that, ill try again.

You CAN be guarded. There’s plenty of options to not be friends with people. You just don’t get to opt out of doing superheroics, because that means you get thrown into a black ops facility somewhere and never be heard from again. That’s just a game over scenario.

ain’t all of it just internal monologue? How is it showing exactly? i already know what goes through MCs head i am controlling them

what i mean are external reactions and dialogues

Some scenes dont work, like that public scene with Flamer guy. Can sigh outwardly but no choice there except do.
