A Squire's Tale–Outwit the faeries to rescue the prince of England!

It’s best to impress Lady Catherine with your competence before you can win her over - try finding some clues in the early chapters, for instance. There’s also a few times when someone asks what’s important to you, and you can pick serving her as one of the options.

And yes, the MC would be late teens - squires were typically between ages 14-21.

Oh, congratulations! I loved playing this when you were working on it. I’ll pick it up ASAP for the full experience.

@Vyndral Quite right - you might notice there’s none of it in Faerie here.

@furyleika Thank you! Hope you enjoy the full thing.

I’m just playing through, having read faery folklore, knowing full well what I shouldn’t be doing around the faeries and gleefully doing it anyway

On my third play through now, and just wondering who’s the 10% in the relationship section/ any hints of finding the Gray God?

Very much enjoying this game, I love all things faery. Excellently done!

Edit: It has, however, taken me far too long to realise why you picked a fair

Found a bug in the game
I’m at the Fair part having dinner
Lady Catherine told me to be discreet and not get found out.
Was talking to the older fighter my pride was at 55% and I appealed to her pride, she ratted me out and I had to sit next to Lady Catherine however I got the Avoid Discovery achievement

So how old is Lady Catherine?

@No_This_Is_Patrick I would guess maybe late 20s early 30s depending on the Squire’s age.

Just got Lady Catherine to kiss me
fanboy sigh

Wasn’t expecting references to Skipton and Settle in the opening chapter - representation for North Yorkshire!

Won Lady Catherine’s Love but not shown enough honor and loyalty so I’m still a squire.
Now for another replay, gonna try to win Lady Catherine’ love and again and win my spurs

Were you able to become a knight ?

No, I haven’t managed that one yet, though I was more focused on running away to Faery in my other play throughs. I’m definitely going to try though, and good luck to you in becoming a knight!

Just finished the second play through
Towards the end when I went to the Faerie land castle I beat the Lord, I did not select offering to exchange my place for my sisters freedom
I had selected that my loyalty to Lady Catherine is second the the king when I went to confront my family.
I noticed when I left the faerie land I was feeling a tugging to go back.
At the end of the game I ended up unable to resist the calling

Hmm, didn’t realise you’d still get dragged back, I offered myself in exchange and went back. At a guess, I’d say to become a knight you can’t pursue your sister, since rescuing her seems to drag you back to Faery, and probably pick to support the crown whenever given the opportunity. Though again, just a guess, could be linked to Catherine instead.

Ignored Catherine
Focused on Isolde
Needed to be more brave I guess or trained more in combat because Isolde ended up sacrificing herself in the castle
I end up being sent to serve the church and lose everything
Depressing as heck ending
Gonna try again with Isolde but this time focusing more on combat and courage

I’ll keep trying this weekend. If I ever manage to become a knight I’ll let you know

To become a knight you need high loyalty, so pick anything that relates to the King/Prince, having high combat and chivalry helps with certain checks but are probably not necessary. I also opted for high courage, pride and rationality, but again, probably not necessary. No looking for the sister, because then you’ll get pulled back to Faery. And try not to spend too much if you want to pay for your own feast

Thanks so much
Have you tried romancing anyone as well?

That sucks about your about not being able to rescue your sister without getting pulled back into the faerie realm.
I wonder if you romance Isolde if you will still get pulled back into the faerie realm or not

@Minnaloushe The 10% relationship is Lord Geoffrey Strange, who’s a possible ally on one route.
As for the grey god, keep the amulet for starters, then talk to the scholar. Then think about what kind of behaviour the god values…

@Alex_Parker_Roberts Beoming a knight is based on both Loyalty and Honor being at decent levels, as well as managing to complete your main quest and resist the call of Faerie.

It’s possible to pursue your sister and resist the call - you just need to be careful not to make any commitments or suffer any defeats that might pull you back there

No one stat should be absolutely necessary - there’s an alternate way around every check in the game, somewhere. You can always try searching the castle more carefully?
