Sounds like Leon and Ante are fit for each other.

The kingdom won’t be able to handle being run by a idiot king with a bad spymaster. And their hypothetical children would just run the kingdom into the ground unless Saine adopts a child, takes the throne and names the adopted child as the heir to the throne which is not happening lol

How is leon an idiot king?

no no, but that just makes the job for vengeful MCs a lot easier. and honestly, forget about understanding Leon’s motives for doing what he did. if those two got together after all that i would definitely burn param to the ground

He has shown on several occasions that he doesn’t really have much of an education or he doesn’t have any interest in learning compared to Saine and other characters (going as far to pout when the MC chooses to read up on politics in the library to be an effective advisor) The only thing he does seem to be very knowledgeable about is combat and having charisma. From my point of view from how his character was written in every area that isn’t combat, Leon is a idiot.

I don’t exactly agree from your viewpoint, considering he wasn’t being prepared for the position, (Via older brother sudden murdered syndrome). He isn’t an idiot, just underqualified for the position.

What makes saine more qualified, all indication i can recall is his willpower to study more in general.

Leon seems like a capable leader and king in the following years; though, currently in the story he doesn’t seem very knowledgeable in the position, though that doesn’t make him an idiot.

The only description I know of for Leon actually doing the job of King is when we meet Saine in PT. 2 when we say “It’s heartening to hear the Parami King is so generous with his people.”:

Nah… His strength just lies elsewhere.

Though in battle of wits he might–currently–be unarmed, in combat and charismatic property he lacks none.

It just… He trusted the wrong person to fill the wits part. It doesn’t help his lack of experience as a ruler.

…still not gonna forgive him though. Nu-uh.

There are many times in history where someone uneducated with the right help can lead nations. I agree with ilovecoins it’s just a matter of who is in charge of the “wits” department, I still personally think that executing you was the right move in the spot he was in but thats just my own dog sh*t opinion

No one in this country is good at their jobs.

I admit on being an anon on Tumblr that asked (a long time ago) if MC could get suspicious of Leon and Ante having an affair and that’s why she insisted on MC being a traitor and Leon listening to her.

Never thought her having the hots for Leon would be canon though…

Now I really hope we can hold that against Leon-- as much as I and my Leonmancing MC loves him😂

To be clear, I have mixed feelings about Leon’s choices when it came to dealing with what MC did. I get why it was probably the right decision as king, but I still feel bitter about it sometimes.

But even with that being said, I’m not sure I’d agree Leon is an idiot king. I think the more accurate description would be that he’s a reluctant king. I don’t think he ever really wanted to be the ruler, so he wasn’t interested in learning how to be one, but it was never really something he had a choice in. And I mean, say what you wanna say, but he DID manage to win a war (albeit with MC’s help but still… leaders have advisors, generals, and what not).

As far as Ante goes. She’s a spymaster who just barely caught someone she was convinced was up to no good being up to no good… and even then, she couldn’t stop MC (which is a good thing, technically, but it’s still a sign of her failure in her role). Make of that what you will. You’d think all that unjustified hostility would’ve at least led to her keeping a closer eye on MC . And if it’s canon that she’s in love with Leon, I like her even less on behalf of my Leonmancing MC and for the simple fact of me not being able to respect her being a bitch to MC because she has a crush.

I don’t think Ante being in love with Leon is a problem in and of itself. More so, that it was pretty important for the development of the plot and was informed from outside sources instead of being in the book. I think any medium should be able to “defend itself” so to speak, without any need for outside interference. It’s fine for little details like a character’s favorite food or foot size, minor stuff like that, pretty inconsequential, but it’s a different story when you supply character motivations and other essential information that should be in the book.
Maybe I’m exaggerating a little but the thing that comes to my mind is how the makers of the matrix movie lately (when the latest movie came out) said that it was always a metaphor for transgenderism, ever since the first one in 1999 ( to the surprise of the actors) or the Last Jedi for which you had to buy additional books and other materials to add all the missing context, worldbuilding and to fill in plot holes in the story.
Once the book or movie, or anything is done, it should be judged by its own content alone, without the author recontextualizing it or filling the gaps after the release.

There is a chance that this information will appear further in the book. I think that the reason this wasn’t mentioned is a simple fact that MC didn’t know Ante as a person and barely interacted with her.

I mean, the Wachowskis WANTED a more overt metaphor but they faced pushback from censors and the markets. Switch was supposed to have a male actor irl and a woman actor in the Matrix. That’s where the name comes from.

Besides, the story isn’t meant to be done atp. It’s part of a series.

Wait… what was the answer to your anon ask though?! Lol

I’m pretty convinced that Ante will have a much larger role in the story later on, once we get back to the kingdom while working for our new employer. Will likely come up then. And we all know that’s happening. Gotta have the drama of running into old friends/ROs after all.

Need to figure out my MCs emotional breakdown seeing Illya again, honestly.

It is fine if they wanted it, but that’s not what we got. It’s unfortunate for them to not be able to realize their creative vision but the first matrix is a great movie and personally, I don’t know if I would trade what we got for what they wanted to make. But that’s neither here nor there. Let me pull another example and I’ll shut up then.

J.K. Rowling said, “Before adopting Muggle plumbing methods in the eighteenth century, witches and wizards simply relieved themselves wherever they stood, and vanished the evidence.” (Why even say that really xd?) And so the questions start. If the poo disappeared where does it go? To the Poop Dimension? Is it just poo there or its just Earth 2.0 with constant browntorms? Or maybe everyone there is already dead because of unsanitary weather conditions? Or does every poo go to its own dimension? Can wizards create dimensions now? And if da puu just seizes to exist can you disappear a person the same way? Or send the to Poo Dimension?
That topic shouldn’t even be approached by her and it seems just stupid at first, but when you start to think about it introduces new mechanics, catastrophic to the worldbuilding and the plot. Just send Voldi to the pooo dimension and its all done. In just one chapter, no book series is needed.

So yeah, after the piece of media is done I don’t take pretty much anything the author says into consideration. They say something they don’t realize messes up their world or try to fill the holes in the story that shouldn’t be there in the first place( the last jedi example).
I know the poo thing is an extreme example but it’s good to showcase the principle.

I have questions though, the first book contain the story from when you meet the white fangs up until excution, right?

Or are there more?
