Reaper jokes aside, I’m ashamed that it’s taken me this long to give this WIP a chance. I did not expect Aunt Bess to be able to tug at my heartstrings so quickly/easily.

Aaaand now I’m wondering how our reunion with our former party will go. I imagine it’d be… awkward. Or violent in some cases. Or both (can violence be awkward?)

Okay that’s it

im convinced that the MC is Isha and that Tahlia is trying to recreate what happened in the story

im now convinced my earlier theory is 75% correct and that Tahlia is indeed responsible for the MC execution

In which I stand by an irrefutable fact: if you can hate Leon, it’s only fitting to hate Ante too. Leon is a young king with a terrible spymaster unable to do her job without bias. 1000% think he needs at least 2 advisors besides Ante, all with opposing views and ideas. Get this dude thinking about the information fed to him, force him to be AWARE of what’s going on in his kingdom and potential plots.

Ante is xenophobic in my opinion. Some suspicion is warranted but the level she took it to is unnecessary.

And now that the mc is saddled with the Earthworm every use of the it requires the mc to torture themselves only to be tortured again by Eli afterwards. Really the kid should learn some painkilling techniques sometime.

Even if the initial healing was beneficial it has now become a vicious circle where the mc has to torture themselves to use Arcana and then be tortured again thereafter under the guise of “healing” only so they can go back to the self-inflicted torture of using parasite powers.
The pain never stops.

Hopefully not that literally as my mc does not want an involuntary manga gender-bender piled on top of all the problems he already has. :unamused:

Not directly, but she is certainly culpable, seeing as how she was Sister’s main backer and sister actions are what directly lead to the mc’s execution.

No, in Arcadia Thalia and the parasites are the bitches, she forces that cycle of constant torture on the mc, but Eli is very much complicit in it.

(Edit note: If you see “her” in here referring to eli it’s because my mind automatically reverts to my playthrough’s picked gender for eli reflexively, ignore it)

Eli did try to help us break out, and again, unless shown to be otherwise, that was Eli genuinely helping us. A lot of people, including you, take the game telling us that Eli won’t “entertain another escape attempt” as Eli showing her true colors, but honestly, I don’t think so. Considering how close Tahlia came to killing you, how close Eli came to losing you again, combined with just how almost nauseatingly overprotective Eli is, it makes sense to me that Eli is not willing to help you escape again given current circumstances, where helping you would be just signing your death warrant.

I mean, let’s say Eli betrayed us and ratted us out to Tahlia, or picked a side right then and there and showed her true colors. Why the hell would Eli ever say ‘I’ll keep MC in line’ right next to you and reveal to you that Eli is not to be trusted, making your job so much easier?

As for Eli being complicit in your “torture”, if we ignored that the said “torture” is proven to be very beneficial for you and really should not be called “torture” in the first place given that you canonically agree to it to begin with, what choice does Eli have? Let’s say Eli can actually just decide to not heal you, what happens next? Your magic won’t heal by itself, and Eli cannot control when and which missions you’re sent to. Eli not healing you is probably going to get you killed because you cannot use your magic properly, and your stronger “parasite” magic at all.

Except Leomar swore that he’d trust you (and he doesn’t), whereas Ante never made any pretext of not liking you.

Ante is Parami, so yes, she’s a racist. Duh.

One of the issues with this theory is that phantasma keep calling you “beloved of Isha”, and presumably if you were Isha nobody would be as qualified as they are to know that.

Can we all just agree that the Arcadians are the reason why the Mc landed in this mess

Mireil (or Mireli IDK), her Father, Thalia, maybe even E (speculating)

It’s no wonder why Most (maybe) people in this thread hate Arcadia

No, we cannot. The only reason things are even things is because Param, Salantira, and the Jovian Church invaded Arcadia without provocation, took all the land, and genocided and enslaved everyone.

Also, unless I missed something (certainly possible), as far as we know Thaubal wasn’t Arcadian, he was Salantiran.

EDIT: Unless by “in this mess” you mean “alive”, in which case, yes, the only reason the MC is alive is because of the Arcadians. Dead people are certainly not in messes (well, except if you end up like the Dynast).

Hey, look, it’s my old enemy, Baseless Speculation. How’ve you been, Baseless Speculation?

The Jovian Church literally called the Arcadians demon worshippers.

Levelling “holier than thou” accusations at Arcadia when they were massacred without provocation at the incitation of the LITERAL Jovian Church is a new low.

Going to need a citation on that “oppressive” you slipped in there. Hey, you know WHICH society is definitely oppressive? Param, which is LEGALLY racist, sexist, classicist, an absolutist monarchy, and would have practiced religious persecution, except they’re so good at it they don’t need the practice anymore.

Shit, Baseless Speculation, you’re going all out today, aren’t you?

Obligatory reminder that at literally every point in history where an Arcadian isn’t AT LEAST pulling the strings, Arcadians get genocided without provocation and with little to no consequences. If the Arcadians are going to get murdered anyway, they might as well get murdered swinging.

Baseless Speculation, you again?

If you end up being literally genocided, I don’t think it counts as “paranoia”?

They didn’t even know you were alive

Details @JBento, Arcadia might got wiped out and enslaved but come on being the most powerful country and loads of powerful mages and the top of having phatasma I won’t be suprised if the Arcadians has develop “holier than thou” attitude toward others, while i won’t dismissed that they got invaded for spoils (bloodline, knowledge) most (probably) wanted to wiped the Arcadians due to their Arrogance and Superiority to others.

Again im just speculating

If you go further back the old Arcadians seems to have been an oppressive magocracy with a case of terminal stupidity when the ones in power started deciding their own kids couldn’t be trusted with the power and knowledge necessary to keep the empire going…which, yeah, that probably gave a huge opening to neighbours who very likely had very legitimate grievances against the ever weakening old Arcadia from that point forward.

Very likely and the old arcadians at some point deciding to become paranoid assholes towards their own kids gave any disgruntled neighbours or possible subject populations, or even their own lower castes, a very good opening to do so.

Except for what is likely to have been centuries worth of old grievances. I also wonder if they may have had help from lower, non-arcana wielding, lower castes of old Arcadia?

And in the end, it just becomes an endless cycle of warring

Nope, it is said the Church poisoned their people’s mind and demonized them. They may have been assholes with a superiority complex and paranoia but it still doesn’t call for a genocide.

I have to agree that until there’s actual evidence showing that Arcadia was an oppressive society, there’s nothing right about the invasion and what happens to them, no way to justify it, and Arcadia is in the full rights to fight back, whatever their methods are, right or wrong

Lord dynast said in one of the choices that they were savages while you can argue “it’s just one guy” this behavior prove that most of the Arcadians has superiority complex.

With their attitude and on the top having phantasma the church use this as a propaganda and serve painting them as demon worshipers while also fueling the other countries reason to wiped them

When your people are getting murdered left and right, even up to the present day, and almost nobody gives a fuck, then why should you give a fuck about them? Why should you care about the people who either are killing off your own people or just don’t give a shit?

They lost once at the height of their power. Trying for world domination the second time is definitely a good way to achieve the getting murdered part of that plan, at least.

Except Thalia is not Arcadia, old Arcadia is dead and consigned to the dustbin of history…unless the backer of the mysterious and creepy twins really is the true last remnant of the actual old Arcadian state, since they do seem to know more than even Thalia,…in which case Thalia is fighting them for her own political power as a cult leader.
For all that Thalia claims to be (the rightful successor to) old Arcadia she is just a cult leader and terrorist.

Since they invariably seem to involve torturing and enslaving him in order to destroy everything my mc holds dear, whether directly, in the case of Saine or indirectly in the case of general devastation that may well reach Leaf’s end and Aunt Bess, my mc very much disagrees with that.

Also Thalia’s methods are most often the wrong ones and unnecessarily brutal to boot, but then she doesn’t even pretend to listen whenever Yu comes up with more reasonable proposals, so she certainly won’t listen to the mc.

In the end whatever justifications she drums up Thalia’s modern Arcadia is ultimately about one thing and one thing only…securing the glorious reign of god-empress Thalia.

Not the height, they were already weakened from within due to generations of paranoia and their elders passing less and less of their vital knowledge along to each subsequent generation.
It’s a bit like if Gen-Z (it’s already too late for mine to do so) collectively decided to stop teaching their kids anything about electricity and destroying most written sources on the subject.
Forcing subsequent generations to either re-invent electricity for themselves and in the meantime to rely on ever more crumbling infrastructure of something that is pretty vital to our way of life.
