A song I associate my MC’s feelings about Leon, post-bbq

Thinking of the White Fang members’ former bonds and following fallout between each other (along with some formerly optomistic MC’s change to cynical views or resentment after the treatment they were given during their final days) has made Youth by Daughter come to my mind these days. Makes me think of the loss of their innocent

The lyric lines that make me think of how the group was in the past is:

We are the reckless, we are the wild youth
Chasing visions of our futures.

And the line that makes me think of the MC’s future fate at the hands of the very people that they will sacrifice so much to save is:

One day we’ll reveal the truth,
that one will die before he gets there.

Though when it gets to the part of the song where the words, And you caused it, gets repeated, it makes me picture all the consequences so far that came from the hasty decision to end MC’s life…and the possible future consequences that may come to be if some MCs no longer want anything to do with with Leon and his kingdom ever again (maybe even to the point of joining the opposing side that will face against the king’s lands in some form).

She’s shown here in her saintess garbs, performing a bit of her theurgy. The bangs are new post-resurrection, which you’ll be given an in-game option to note.

You can almost feel the elegant, regal air that llya carries on her as a saintess just from looking at the picture (to me, at least).

Gweila the Clear-Sighted, due to Kote’s affinity to Enchantment. I am developing another MC that goes by the suggested name Hel, whose namesake alone makes it clear their speciality is in Spiritism and the phantasma connection will be with Nyx the Condemned due to it.

That’s actually a pretty cool nickname, especially since Nyx was one of the few Goddesses who scared Zeus to the point that he actively made sure not to get on her bad side (which I find absolutely hilarious).

I’ve gained a good handful of nicknames during the years myself. Okami or Nora is two of them, though they’re not my most commonly used nicknames.

Forgot to put the second favorite magic. For Kote, his second favorite magic is alchemy and his other skills lie in Intrigue; his RO is Illya and that won’t change even after his rebirth (if anything, her and Saine’s actions further cemented his loyalty and fondness for the two).

I have yet to decide what Hel’s second favorite magic will be (it’s between alchemy and thaum), and the love interest part is a little harder to predict as well (though her outside skill is in Charisma). They do start out with Leon as their love interest, but even though they hold no resentment toward Leon or the kingdom, the mage was still hurt by what he did and may not return to a romantic bond once more since they’re not certain they could trust him with their heart that way again (will likely be able to return to being friends though). Don’t know if another RO may end up gaining those romantic affections in Leon’s place.

I came bearing a meme with Leon-

MC (Edith) after the resurrection when she met him again since she got punched by Leon in the dungeon scene despite romancing him and her being a foot shorter than him. Leon really said midgets have no rights

UPDATE POST

Demo ver 2.5 is live! As the name implies, this is mostly a housekeeping and polishing update, with a relatively short addition to the wordcount (which will nevertheless introduce the rest of the core cast, and set up the game’s next big action arc).

Improvements to the current build include lateral expansions of existing scenes, a brand new magical codex + spell history section, a gender-flippable Eli, and a whole slew of edits and fixes courtesy of my amazing beta-testers!

Link is in the OP. Saves will be broken; please start over from a clean save. With any luck, this should be the only time you’ll need to do this for the next couple builds!

New in this update:

• An update to the game content (+16k words, now 103k words. Roughly 11k words of this are brand-new, whereas the rest are general fixes and soup-ups to the pre-resurrection arc). The story now ends after introducing the rest of the core cast!
• Revamp of choices for the first half of the demo, including all-new ones to reflect the expanded stat bar.
• Expansions to several critical scenes, such as the prison scene with Leon and Ilya.
• New stat screen elements, such as breakdowns for each stat, a codex on magic, and a history of the character’s used spells + an in-depth explanation on each one.
• A gender-flippable Eli.
• Minor rewrites for certain scenes.
• Various bug and grammar fixes.

Just finished the update and WOW! I already know that Eli is alive but it still makes me feel so happy to hear (or well see) that we’re going to rescue Eli. Hell, they didn’t even have to ask MC to save Eli because MC will definitely do it.

Now I’m even more excited!

I must say that I absolutely love that you included the possibility of nullification of MCs stats. Good decision for the narrative.

Yep, doing a mini run at the moment and I can now say with the upmost confidence that Kote (do not click blur until you have played through the new events of the update) does not trust the people who revived him at all. The fact they were the ones his Sister was working alongside with already gives him a bad impression of the group as a whole, but that it was outright admitted that they had considered reviving Sister and saw her as less of the loose cannon of the two also makes him question the sanity of these people and their goals. They also seem like too high and mighty of a bunch for the Enchantment mage’s tastes. Surprisingly, there has been one individual that Kote has a better opinion of at the least, though its still far too soon to say if that will be enough to make him stick around.

That said, he does intend to pay of the debt to reviving him (in a reasonable way) and he’ll go along with the first task assigned to him though mostly because the task involves his cherished sibling Eli

That part didn’t seem right when I was playing (my mage specialized in enchantment), and I checked the code - it looks like something’s wrong with the multireplace there. I think it’s that multireplace starts with 0, not 1, so everything’s off by one.

I sincerely can’t wait to read more!!!Thalia is shady as all hell but my MC is not looking to get collared-or whatever thing they’ll do to ensure her compliance- so she will work with them for now.I’m looking forward to saving Eli, and the reunion that comes after. Also! I really Miss Aunt Bess and can’t wait to see her again!

Hmmm…I’m curious

Since the guy who tortured us apparently screwed up royally with the mc my mc really isn’t happy about the resurrection, especially with the implications that whatever his old torturer did is likely to first render him without magic and then proceed to slowly kill him anyway.
It’s like saving somebody from a car crash only so then can slowly die of cancer over the coming years anyway.
But it does explain why sister felt so much more powerful than the mc, since whatever force she was bound with, and eli too works or worked with them in relative harmony, rather than against them.

So knowing all that while my mc certainly wants to rescue Eli, he may not want Eli to do to him whatever this group thinks he can do, since it is likely to amount to more excruciating torture just so he can die slightly slower all over again.
I do hope that after we rescue Eli we can find a way to escape before they let Eli do whatever it is they want him to do to the mc…as mine does not believe whatever they have in mind would be remotely beneficial to him as it is clear that, unlike sister may have been, he is nothing more than a slave to them.

Paravir, I also get the impression that what our old torturer did to the mc actually made them less powerful, unlike with Eli and sister, which is a real pity, since otherwise the mc could have done things like break arcane collars or resurrect eli themselves. Anyway whatever they mean for Eli to do to the mc it is probably not worth it as, at best, it will mean the four parasites the mc was forcibly bonded with will just drain him of magic and then drain him of the rest of his life a bit more slowly.

Anyone so determined to revive the old ways that they let someone like Mireil run loose (and we do know Thalia did consider bringing her back) and is clearly stuck in past is not someone seeing things with a clear view. Kote isn’t going to stop challenging her extreme actions, regardless of what she will do against him. He’s already had to face death once, so he got no problem staring it in the face each time he pushes his luck.

I do wonder, however…if it may be possible to make both opposing sides see the error of their stubborn views if one takes the path of the middle road. I doubt it would be easy in any way (especially since considering how stubborn the ones who are leading the two sides clearly are and they certainly have the advantage of public power), but who knows? Groups are made out of individuals in the end and not all of them may completely share their side’s views on things. So if MC were to offer a third option of some kind (one that people from both sides prefer getting behind), I wonder if it would be possible for them and Eli to become leaders of this hypothetical third group that could become its own player in the conflict between the two major parties.
