A Mage Reborn, Book Two (WIP) - UPDATED April 5th, 2025 | Book One Released!

Honestly, I don’t see the point of continuing with this discussion considering that you started responding with nonsense, so I’ll leave it at that.

As I said, I already finished this discussion from the moment you started responding with nonsense. You claim they have no evidence when they literally have the diary of the person who kidnapped the Saint and can explain the mage is actions, and if the mage claimed he was innocent, there was something to prove. I don’t know why you insist on continuing a discussion in which you started to respond with sarcasm. Not to mention, I used the logic of our world because you started making ridiculous statements about the Judicial system. That’s why they ask the accused if they are guilty or innocent from the beginning, and then the evidence is presented.

Oh huzzah this conversation was going nowhere anyway.

Anyway Ante is the person I want to spend the most time with. We all need an honest conversation to let out some pent up emotions. We can do the “I feel conversations”.

“I feel like I’d be happy launching a fireball at you, you’re turn”

Seriously though as far as I’m concerned Thalia and Ante are the two people to actually have a grudge against, but Thalia’s been useful.

Oh I thought we were done, anyway. Hanlon’s razor and all that. Making a mistake does not equal doing bad. But you’d still repent for a honest mistake if the consequences were bad.

You’re arguing about applying the logic of court proceedings to our world with magic on top, while arguing they should follow our logic for court proceedings in the evidence gathering department? On top of a case where it looks like there’s nothing to prove?

fuck it, poems that are about my mc

Id say that’s a bit unfair to say about Leon. It isn’t as black and white as that. To look at it that way would be ignoring any of the things that would make the decision right in his mind.

He didnt just up and toss us away. He did indeed trust us, even when ante was poisoning his mind, even when doubts crept in because your sister murdered his brother and he was immediately thrust into war.

At the end of it all, you were all back to being friends, Leon treats you no differently, then MC leaves for a bit until they realize the saintess needs to die. Naturally he still has some doubts cause who wouldnt after all that had happened. Illya and saine would like to believe youd never do such a thing for no reason, but they really had nothing to prove that you werent some plant your sister placed in their midst.

Mc killing the saintess was a huge blow and even then leon came to you to hear anything that’d change something and you gave him nothing. He didnt just toss you aside after you ceased being useful, even while you were in that cell he still had some faith that you didnt kill her as some traitorous snake.

Also for why one death mattered so much even though thousands died. She’s a religious leader beloved by many. Her death, morbid as it is to say, outweighs the others in the eyes of the public. She’s second to the king if not equal to him, that does not just fly by as another war casualty.

So you say that not everything is black and white, but for Leon, it was, considering that anyone could see that a situation like the mage’s was not so simple. Without the mage, they wouldn’t have won the war, but Leon completely ignores that fact.

And why would he treat him differently after the war? If they won because of the mage and he was treated as a hero, so the first time his trust in the mage was really tested, look where it led them. Saine and Illya trusted the mage because they were true friends, not like Leon who, even though he saw the state the mage was during the war, still let himself be poisoned by Ante.

Well, the mage’s sister also killed Saine’s brother, but he still trusted the mage, so I don’t see what trust you say Leon showed.

What faith do you mention? He only went to that cell to vent his anger, if he really wanted to know what happened, he would have made more effort to investigate, considering that it didn’t take long for him to decide on an execution, a decision that has irreversible consequences. As a king, that decision may be acceptable but not as a friend.Since he was under a lot of pressure and if they were willing to sacrifice the Hero without investigating anything and to avoid the risk of unpredictable consequences or for the greater good, as everyone says, then it’s a decision he made. But to regret it now is hypocritical, he made his decision as a king, so he should live with it and not be lamenting.

Ew, they’re my clothes, you’re not allowed to wear them.

Actually now that I think about it we should wage war against Panam. They have our stuff.

i believe the poem is about (within the context of an ilya romance) repressing yourself to the point that you can only admit your desires to yourself in your weakest moments. also saine took mc’s things to bess

Given that we as a character don’t know I still see this as a valid reason for war.

Who knows how many coupons and magazines i lost.

Considering he had already expressed doubts in the mage after their sister’s actions, continued to be fed Ante’s bs and then is confronted with the MC killing the saintess, proving, to him, that Ante was indeed correct. I’d say he gave the mage the benefit of the doubt beforehand. He trusted you to fight with his army and be behind the scenes when it was revealed your sister was the big bad.

But this wasn’t about how leon saw it. He definitely got hit with numerous pressures and then the whole thing with the saintess pushed him to the brink. Not saying he was in the right mind to make a call on it but i say it’s a disservice for us to look at him and say oh Leon doesnt deserve to lament, etc etc. He made a mistake. He had his doubts and was being manipulated in a stressful time, we cannot expect the dude to be perfect.

We say look at how the mage was stressed out or fighting. No doubt that’s why Leon held out against Ante till the incident. Faith in a friend. We can’t ignore that he was also going through a ton of shit too.

Trusting? That’s not correct. He didn’t trust you to fight alongside his army; you literally had to fight, or do you think they would have let you go just like that? Besides, they needed the mage, no matter what, or they would lose the war and considering that Leon never told Ante to stop investigating you, it further proves my point. You were under surveillance all the time, and he never did anything about it, so saying that he trusted you as much as you claim is false.

Nobody is saying he has to be perfect, but if the first decision you make is to execute the Hero and someone who was supposed to be your friend without conducting any kind of investigation, and then regret it? I don’t see how he has the right to regret it when he already made his decision as a King. At the very least, he could live with the consequences of his actions instead of asking for forgiveness.

Honestly, it’s me and you really unable to move past the fact Leon never truly trusted the mage. We just wanna know when he really sided against the mage. :joy:

Edit: Forgot to add, he even has this accusatory tone with the mage when the tragic backstory comes out. “If you told someone…” If the mage told your Julias everything, he’d have exiled the mage right that second. I cannot be convinced otherwise.

Cause he doubted you yeah. I would do the same. Can’t be too cautious after the shit that went down, friend or not. I still wouldn’t say he had absolutely no trust in you, he could have just set it up for Ante to follow you and kill you after sister died no?

Think everyone has the right to regret a mistake. He succumbed to Ante and his own stress and paranoia. He can regret it, just has no right to bitch about it. Like, he can think “I can’t believe i did that” but he can’t go up to Saine or Saintess 2.0 and start griping about it.

On this I agree. And whether or not the player wants to forgive him, it is up to the player. My MC and I aren’t going to forgive him. He’ll be getting the cold shoulder from my MC.
