Not me finding a point I haven’t seen the Leon haters bring up.
I would like to preface this by saying he is a very stupid man. We’ve known this the whole game. Social interactions and reading the room are not his specialty.
With that said, he could have just lied. If he was willing to let the Mage go if they said ANYTHING, he clearly had some ounce of belief in him that was outweighed by his enormous sense of duty and probably guilt. I don’t doubt Ante was in his ear telling him all about how Julian had the same reservations about the Mage before he was killed.
And for more discussion, what do you guys think about the empire across the sea? I think they’re a way more pressing issue for Arcadia than a rebuilding Param, an in shambles Salantira, or an indebted Yotai. Especially because they have knowledge of the Arcane when that is supposed to be strictly Arcadian knowledge.

Not yet. He’s paused until 02/28. After that, charging resumes. I think other patrons have had trouble getting to the alpha build, but I’ve been able to get to it. Downloaded all the chapters to read them, though, since the new stuff wasn’t showing in game.

I dont get that part, if you want to talk about other characters you can, its not like people lock up the thread for themselves when they go have the 163²² argument about Leon. Go talk about Arcadian architecture or something if you want to, be the change you want to see in society(this thread).
I get that seeing the same discussion in circles must be tiring, but if its still a topic of discussion, its because it still hasnt been solved, and nobody is solving that any soon, since in both of the biggest arguments going around both sides have very good reasons to be this or that. And the author, all respect for writing the story, isnt solving anything by doing this:

Gee, it’s almost like I tried doing that and got drowned out by the torrent of the argument. And then other people didn’t respond because they were getting drowned out by the arguments that are sometimes live when people are trying to have other conversations.

This is why I can never self-insert. In the MC’s shoes, I’d be like, “eff this noise, I’m going somewhere and living on an island alone, and as long as no one bothers me, I won’t have to gut them.” And if Thalia didn’t like it, well kill me again. Don’t give a shit, but I’m not playing.
Thankfully, my MC has her own reasons for going along. Moron, lol.

I cannot express how much I’m waiting for this. Personally, I’d love to play it off as my twin brother Glyph (my MC’s name is Rune) who I swapped places with after I left. Can you just imagine the horror on their faces when they’re led to think they killed the wrong guy? The only thing better would be to see their faces if I just pretended to have a heart attack and face planted right there. You see trolling is how I cope with the excruciating memories of burning alive.

Koschei. Named for the Necromancer “Koschei the Immortal” from Russian folklore. He’s speculated to be the inspiration for litches. As the name implies, he is immortal. I thought it fit for a resurrected Necromancer.

i love love love the fire pun there too not just bc the general gut punchy-ness of it (although it rules) but also the thematic resonance. mc is someone who has outlived the end of their own story and has returned as a deeply broken version of themselves. the pyre takes something from the mage that they’ll never get back, you know?
so i really like ember as a code name! “the last of something bright burning, still burning” to borrow a phrase from john darnielle
