A Mage Reborn, Book Two (WIP) - UPDATED April 5th, 2025 | Book One Released!

“Your Honor, may I remind you that Saintess was already comatosed and had no signs of waking up? I was simply relieving our soldiers of guard duty, that is all.”

“All I have done is mercy killed a comatose, insensate Saintess. Hell, the Saintess may even have been unknowingly used to set up another of Miriel’s attacks, or need I remind you she spent a full year with her?”

“Damn this mage spittin’ facts, let them go.”

Actually, it’s two years. The war lasted 2+ years.

Ah, misremembered.

I wish it was like you said, but the MC also attacked Ante and her team (her fault), so this complicates the matter. Yet another way in which Ante f*cked everything up.
Honestly, every time I remember her character I have to drink herbal tea to calm myself.

I wish it is that easy for me. Every time I remember Ante and the things she did, I’m so p*ssed that I need to punch and kick a punching bag for five minutes to calm myself down.

“Technically speaking she disobeyed a superior, I was just punishing insubordination, borderlines on treason if you ask me; in fact, maybe she should be the one under scrutiny instead.”
Honestly, the thought of grabbing her while burning to death probably would’ve crossed my mage’s mind, but he (was) too nice for that.

Those 3 options to respond to Ante while MC was in the dungeonds were very unsatisfactory in my opinion. Something like “I have nothing to say to you” and “I guess it would be hard for you to grasp the concept of friends”. Bruh, I would cuss her out several generations ahead so her possible grandchildren would wake up in cold sweat.

Exactly! It’s her fault. There are many ways MC tries to avoid the outcome (pulling rank, persuasion, intimidation, literally saying “Come inside and watch me do it”) and not only does she straight up say “I do not care” to every single one of them but she’s the reason there’s not enough time for MC to safely defuse The Saintess and has to resort to actually killing her.

“Your honor, I was fully capable of doing things non-lethally given time, and I even attempted to do things that way. Were it not for Ante literally holding me up and attacking me, I would not have had to lethally attack The Saintess.”

And then throw Miriel’s journal with translations onto the desk as evidence. They read “I rigged The Saintess up as a bomb incase The Mage beats me lol” and we win the case. Ez.

I remember reading that Ante had The Feelings™ for Leon and that partially influences her decisions but like… Girl I think hassling, suspecting and killing Leon’s best friend/lover (who also happens to be the best friend of the other prince and the best friend/lover of The Saintess’ Heir Apparent) is the least profitable thing to do in her position.

My MC when confronting Ante: Lady, you realize I’m into Ilya, right?
Ante, still denying being petty and jealous: I don’t know what you’re talking about.
Mc: Ilya? You know, the Saintess? The healer I went out of my way to spend a ton of time with? The OTHER member of the White Fangs my age?
Ante: What does that have to-
Mc: Seriously lady, I’m not even into men! Don’t you think you should have asked about that beforehand? There’s a 50/50 shot I’m even capable of being competition! Like, information gathering is supposed to be your JOB.

I thought it was confirmed that she wasn’t interested in Leon? And I personally saw no evidence of that in game.

Last I heard, Parivir said that wasn’t something he said:

I Actually understand her thought process, or at least, I think I can, which is why I don’t hate her, but I still want her dead

Part of me wishes MC brought the book they learned the disenchantment spell from. Because once they find that on their person, things would become a lot clearer. Maybe not crystal clear, but the motive behind MC’s actions would be understood better.

“Trying to cast a disenchantment spell for a bomb. Huh, something strange is afoot.”

@Walking_IMHO

Why not curse her and all of her future generations? I wish the MC could do that as they burned on the pyre.

“I curse you, Ante, that your life shall be filled with endless misery from now on! You shall curse your mother for the day you were born, and all of your descendants shall curse your name until the end of time! You shall die the most horrible death imaginable, and burn in hell for all eternity henceforth!”

@EvilCatPerson

I imagine a conversation between the MC and Leon like this when they finally reunite:

Leon: “(MC’s name), I-”
MC: Holds up a hand “It’s alright, Leomar. You don’t have to explain. I know you love Ante. That’s why you chose to believe her over me.”

@Sujan_Dhakal

Totally! Even if you don’t hate Ante, her incompetence as a supposed Spymaster poses a grievous security risk for the Param kingdom. Maybe we can use this as an excuse to convince Leon to let us kill her. (For those of us who don’t plan to kill Leon and/or destroy the whole Param, that is.)

Something tells me we aren’t going to be able to destroy Param. Conquer maybe, but destroy? An entire nation full of people? Doesn’t seem like something COG would sign off on.

Well condensing that there is going to be an ending where the mc goes on a huge murder rampage against everyone I don’t see why not

Yeah but I mean, Genocide.

What do you think I meant by huge murder rampage

Just saying that might not make it past marketing.
