WW2 Armored Recon - Discussion

I can’t actually see any way to succeed in a section where the options you said you had are available. Had you already left the café?

(I do, however, see some bugs I should probably report, but I think I’ll do another sweep first before doing that.)

What medals can the MC end up with, and is there a way to become an officer at the end of the game?

If your enlisted. Would have to go through a specific Green to Gold aspect. It would never be automatic. Officers and Enlisted are seperate ranked people. Sergeants have their own and technically.

@AllenGies I like tanks.

Battlefield commissions were awarded in WW2, so it’d be possible to get one.

The problem is that you’d essentially be existing within a whole different game, with different peers (commissioned officers, more or less) and different responsibilities (platoon leadership, almost certainly)

What are the level of skills how high can you go and what are there benefits.

Driving:
Gunnery:
Mechanic:

A crewman can go to level 5 in their occupation. The Driver drives, the Gunner guns… the Mechanic… mechs? Anyway, their primary occupation goes to level 5 IIRC. The others can go to two, but can be useful for assisting in actions with others. Driving can affect gunnery, mechanic can assist driving, etc.

The PC’s skills in the three above can go to level 2. They can assist at critical moments with just about any task.

How would you like the breakdown of the other skills?

The Doctrine skill was quite interesting, particularly at how high levels of that skill caused additional successes at the Kasserine Pass chapter.

Please pardon me if I’m going overboard here, but I imagined a sort of post-credits scene where the MC and crew fight at Kasserine Pass, destroy the Tiger, take the Tigerfebel, and deliver the plates. A sort of aftermath.

The MC and their tank crew, having completed their plate delivery, are sent back to the nearest U.S. assembly area. This assembly area ends up including the one and only General George S. Patton conducting a review, and the General takes notice of the newly arrived tank.

The fiery General initially thinks the MC and crew are screw-ups who were late to the review/not up to his standards. Patton is poised to verbally thrash our heroes when another officer points out the crew’s special detached mission involving the plates.

Patton then demands an explanation from his subordinates of why the MC and crew were assigned to missions with the French and whether the MC is an effective tanker.

Best-case scenario, multiple officers and possibly enlisted men state lines to the effect of: “General, that’s the Stuart crew the men call ‘the legends’.” “General, that’s the Stuart crew that killed 4-5 Panzers at Choigui.” “General, even the French and the British are impressed with this crew.” “General, if even half the mission reports are true, Sergeant MC and their crew are probably the best Stuart crew we have right now.”

His anger calmed, Patton gives the MC permission to speak on their mission. The MC explains how the plates were found, the Germans thwarted/bloodied, and how the crew helped Knox’s Knockers hold Kasserine Pass for a day against Rommel’s armies. As a final touch, the MC then hands off the Tigerfebel to Patton/his staff, and explains the Tigerfebel operations manual is proof that this crew did the near-impossible: they killed a Tiger tank in a Stuart.

Patton, his mood having done a complete 180, says something to one of his aides to the effect of: “Colonel, I want this entire crew given new uniforms, fresh supplies, and promoted. That includes a battlefield commission for Sergeant MC here. The men have a need for heroes and examples to follow. Well done, Lieutenant MC.”

Quite the flight of fancy, I know, but I really enjoyed Armored Recon and wanted to share my thoughts. Thank you.

I like it. Very dramatic. Let me think how it might be incorporated into things.

Would this be only if the plates are returned to American authorities? Might have to have one for the British then? Perhaps the French too.

You can also get infinite career from spamming either of these two since they lack a disable_reuse

I would picture the scene I described previously as where Patton doesn’t know about the crew’s special mission; an ending where the plates are delivered to British or the French. If they were delivered to either Fredenall or Ike, then word may have spread along the U.S. chain of command by the time the crew travels to the assembly area. Then Patton’s response might be slightly different. I am so glad you like this suggestion.

Excellent notes. Thank you. Now I have a good excuse to divert my efforts toward closing up all changes and getting a new version out.

Yep, Patton’s reply is different depending on whether the plates go to Fredenall or not. He might have a cutting remark about the former general… “I know why they succeeded; they operated independent from Fredenall.”

I’m saving something for a sequel. (No timetable on that.)

@TheInfernal616 - The first 3 Chapters are free to play via the Choice of Games App. Then you can decide whether you like it enough to purchase.

I was kinda expecting a sequel here, and honestly this sequel will probably be even longer than the last game would it not? making a sequel for such a large game—1 million words, is definitely a tough work to do. I’m hoping that you at the very least take care of yourself. Anyways moving past that, I can’t really deny the fact that I’m excited for this sequel nonetheless. I hope my anticipation doesn’t create expectations on your part hehe. That’s all mate, and stay well.

Edit: I forgot to ask, but if you had the time, could you lay out all the possible endings for the game? would be very much appreciated.
