(WIP) The Ascendant | 3 and 3/4 Chapters done 80k+ words

Good question, got me considering my own plans for it as I had never considered changing weapon shape mid battle. Weight, hardness and durability definitely. Weight would be restricted because you could boost the weapon’s density but not create a large amount of mass from nowhere. Back to the original question, at the higher levels changing would definitely be possible, but not mid battle. Complete changes would take too long to do in the heat of battle. I might add something later on that you can change weapon even without access to other weaponry through craft arts during downtime though. It’s a good thing to think on, thanks!

Of course I was just curious what its limits were :slightly_smiling_face:

I really need to name my character next time Shylilly. Lol

Also really good, keep up with it.

I’ll take that as a sign to try and get the shy actions across with a different word lol

In the game you get a choice of weapons to choose between but I was curious is fighting with your fists a common thing or is it more rare? And if it’s uncommon will there be special scenes that reference the fact that the mc does really use a weapon?

The most common weapon among knights and their squires is a sword, followed by the bow, then at a much more reduced frequency is the spear. Frankly there is next to nobody that chooses not to use a weapon. There currently aren’t any scenes referencing the rarity, but that’s definitely something I can consider adding, thanks for the question!

My mc revels in unarmed combat. He loves of ripping through flesh and bone with his claws and desrtoting steel and stine with his bare hands. He’s simple but thats fun part of unarmed combat against armed combat. He laughs at their astonishment of him destroying their weapons and armor with his bare hands whereas the strongest of weapons couldn’t

I was thinking it was like that but no one specifically mentioned it so I wasn’t really sure how abnormal it was. I appreciate you responding and I look foward to the next update!

This is the longest period I have gone without an update so I thought I would let people know how I’m going progress-wise. I am only 6.3k words through the next chapter, but I think I have finally got past my block when it comes to RO stuff so I am optimistic for the future. I have also made a couple changes and fixes to the earlier chapters. I am aiming for an update relatively soon, but I can’t give an exact date as of rn with the limited progress on the current chapter (for context, it is over 1k under half of the size of the first chapter right now, and that is my current bottom limit for a chapter size if I can help it)

That’s fine. We already know how busy u are especially the ro situation since that is a brand new thing on its own which u wasn’t really sure about it. Just take your time

Just updated again, this will be the final minor update before I release the next chapter. It has a bunch of minor changes and fixes, as long as a new option for the cheat mode to max out relationships. Not sure exactly when the update with the next chapter will be out, I am the majority of the way through but I want to finish it off and check it over a few times to make sure it is decent. Now I have made the decision to add ROs, I want to make sure it is done well. That process starts with ensuring the introduction and start of the relationships are good. Frankly I’ve already mentioned my issues with writing it before so I would humbly request anybody’s help in checking the RO interactions over once they’re out  that’s all for today!

I dunno so far this is decently fast with the update what I consider long is probably like 40-60 days without word from author or something like sit rep.

@Hector_Lopez thanks for the report, I have randomtested it into oblivion and fixed absolutely everything I can so should be all done, thanks again!

Hi I was just wondering if in the future will interactions differ based on the mc’s second race? Will a half orc be treated better than a half elf in certain situations?

Good question, so there isn’t much of a difference to the humans of the world, but in future potential interactions with the other races then definitely. It won’t be necessarily positive interactions, but depending on both the MC and NPC’s race, it can be improved. The only exception would be Orcs, they do a lot of in fighting, so their allegiances are more to clan than race. Thanks for the question and interest!

Ofc keep up the good story!

In future versions of the game will the mc have race specific abilities that set them apart from others? (Examples: Orc rage, Elven magic, and lycanthrope senses)

Good question thanks. So it’s something that I did consider however I elected not to in my initial plans, purely because this is my first attempt at writing and I didn’t want to make it too complicated. You might’ve noticed that the concept itself is rather simple, and it’s by design. I’m normally a fan of lots of stats, lots of variation and in general lots of flavour text. I have done my best to add lots of flavour text but just like the lack of special race specific abilities, the rest is side-lined in the interest of keeping things simple and trying to execute what I have. I hope in the future I can write some more stuff that will be different, but I will make no promises or expectations when it comes to that. Hope that answered it (even with the rambling) and thanks again for the question
