(WIP) Path of Martial Arts: The Beginning (Dark, Eastern Fantasy | 805k words)

aura clash mc was weak and a labourer with not that much finance but hated they weakness and wanted to follow the path of the strong, poma mc was just too much of a rich child to grow

Shonen fans gotta shonen, but what does it even matter “who would win”.

poma mc was just too much of a rich child to grow

I wonder why?? Oh yes, it’s because THAT’S HOW THE STORY BEGINS.

Aight aight , both MCs are impressive in their own right ,as much as I loathe powerscaling comparing thé two could be funny.
However you really downplay PoMa MC’s prowess🤣.
The Wolves that MC beat was a rank 3 legendary beast.,ik a lot on this server are still hurt on their ego about that but it was(and if I remember well niki did mention MC could beat the Wolf in fair conditions),not to add MC was at his weakest(Early houtian)by that time.
MC was indeed beaten up,but he was a mortal , around 7-10yo not to say and jumped by teenagers.AC MC begin at 10 and fight Jack later.
For the creating a martial art part,it’s extremely difficult to do so,even a Shangtian might not be able to do it in the poma lore.Only Chao(and he hinted that he only was able to do so because of a treasure in a danger zone in a public q/a).
So I won’t say who or who is stronger here,I think AC displays power in a flashier way than PoMa and closer to anime standards for example and I like the way, just like you how you like it too ,but you prefer how it is done in AC ig.But underselling MC because of a feeling you get is …oh Power scaling is brainrot anyway.

yeah you are right if poma mc was given all they wanted from the start then the matchup would be fair, power scaling just always mess me up when comparing characters from different animes

edit: you know what, I appreciate both works despite the hate/love I sometimes give to poma, without poma, the inspiration for auraclash would have not been the wip that I love today

Do you think Mei would step on you if you asked her nicely?

I feel like this sentence is readable enough without me needing to explain it further.

You know i just wish there was a way to win more of the fights the mc looses. I’m aware some of the stuff is for plot reasons but the mc is supposed to be a lot stronger than they are. Also if I’m playing story mode and have the martial sovereign trait why does it cost me QI to use abilities i should be able to use for free?

What fights exactly? Cause honestly the only Ls MC takes is when they fight someone far higher than them and reasonably wouldnt win. Long Chen for example, Not only in his fight he is in a state between Peak Houtian and Xiantian, he also has TWs Guidance which no doubt made him so damn strong and a Broken Inheritance given to him by TW. And what does MC have? Golden Seed(which is slowly killing you when you use it) and being a Mid houtian, but even then you do manage to defeat long chen and have him at your mercy the only reason its a “loss” is cause he had leverage over you with the Qi stones.

So yeah id like to know when MC really loses a fight that they shouldve won easily, i think its moreso the fact you think MC should Be one shotting every Enemy. Which tbh doesnt sound as fun.

Also Martial sovereign specifically only works for Techniques like attacks and teleporting, stuff like regen, stat raising, infusion or story choices like spending Qi to heat your blood still take Qi.

Hey I’m not saying you are entirely wrong but when I’m playing on story mode I feel like the mc should be powerful enough to beat anything. If it was any other mode than your correct I feel like the mc should’ve won in story mode. Also I still think that the martial sovereign trait should apply to QI. In conclusion it’s Wu Chaos fault my mc isn’t god already.

Also i enjoy games that let me be overpowered and destroy anything with one hit it’s fun!

The thing is storymode isnt a alternate path, that’d be unnecessary to make a whole other path for one mode where you destroy everything thats not what this story is about, All story mode does is make you auto pass checks, it doesnt guarntee that you win all the time cause checks arent successes theyre the best outcome in a situation.

as for martial sovereign it should be impossible to run out of Qi in story mode.

One of the shounen things that AC did perfectly that POMA did not utilize is TRANSFORMATION

MC can beat stronger opponents by using their fuel foundation bumping up their power level temporarily. This fix the problem of losing without getting too overpowered since it’s only temporary. But after time skip PoMa mc is probably one of the strongest in their world so theirs no need for transportation.

That being said, it is true that it’s a bit sad seeing a Legendary talent become completely useless after the timeskip.

In fact, I do have a hot take: I actually don’t like the complete switch we get by transitioning to Qi? In general, it’s kind of sad seeing our old martial arts techniques just thrown away - especially since I kind of find some of them a lot more fun than the Qi-infused actions.

(from a gameplay perspective, it’s also a bit frustrating to realize that any XP you invested before that point is effectively lost)

If you mean XP invested in techniques, these unlock ability to improve your qi-based moves in the three available fields (space, elemental, body) Or, to be exact, translate to one level gained in associated field.

I meant XP invested in stats, which are by far the most significant investment (honestly, the Xp cost of techniques barely register in comparison)

I don’t understand then, what do you mean by XP being effectively lost? You receive what you put in the stats as free XP after the timeskip.

Just my personal opinion but I get your point of view as well i just think it’s slightly disappointing but it’s the authors story not mine and I still look forward to seeing more of it!
