Tournament to decide who becomes the Prime Disciple, it’s not implemented yet as far as I know but it’ll come in future updates.

Giving up the position would be pretty stupid considering its benefits. Being Prime Disciple means you will either become the future Sect Master or Hidden Elder, you’re the literal future of the sect. If you become the Prime Disciple you will have the full support and protection of the sect. You’d have unrestricted access to the resources of the entire sect. You’ll be their most valuable asset. Your existence is of so much importance that they’d probably even go to war with the entire Martial World to keep you safe.

I don’t think being prime disciple would keep us bound to the sect. Tang Ruo mentions at one point he fully expects to become the prime disciple and with being next in line for the throne I don’t think he would want to if it got in the way of his future emperor duties

You only really need to protect the sect when it’s in danger as Hidden Elder. Outside of that you can pretty much do anything you want and fuck around like MG.

Once my MC becomes prime disciple or hidden elder it’s over for the He clan, especially Mei Mei. Can’t allow an alchemist as powerful as her to just run around freely.

Just curious, is there a benefit in choosing an Elder to train under? My available choices are Ma Rin and Chu Aiguo. What are the benefits for each of them or it is better to pick no one?

Not sure what you mean by collateral effect but if you win the fight you either end up hooked on Mei or her enemy. No other options.

Don’t anger him too much when you first meet him, learn void step, and don’t choose anyone as your master when asked and he’ll arrive afterward.
