Hadn’t played the vampire route before–and goodness! I feel so bad for my Consort. He’s just a tiny speck of sunshine trying to be the best cult member he can, and is really going through it. Huge snaps for the Nest though, I seriously love them so much. I don’t know wtf I would do if that was going on for four years!!! That vampire is more insane than the cult!

While bro’s a creep for the stalking, blood sucking and poisoning(?), Chase making fun of him for being a dork that dyed his hair but forgot to do his eyebrows, and him pouting about being beaten by children (unless one of them is a filthy traitor like a certain someone) was pretty humanizing.
Also looking back on things, it’s pretty funny how similar his, and his sister’s antics from the old demo are even though they have opposing views. Which makes me excited to see just how hard the two are going to butt heads.

I think I maybe caught an inconsistency. Like there’s this line here.
Your father as a Stray comes last, he clutches his paper close to his chest.
And then a few pages later, there’s this line.
Good, you aren’t included in that, as your father joined the cult 20 years ago… and is the most devout man you have ever seen. You haven’t seen him in years, enough time for the bruises to vanish but the memory stays.
Which seems to contradict the first one in multiple ways. Like the second one says he’s a devout follower and the MC hasn’t seen him in years, except they just did and the text says he was a stray.

I think this is a case how you interpret things, I might need to reword this a bit.
MCs father is a Stray, always has been. He joined the cult when he was 19 and turned into a total fanatic because of his Stray background.

Yeah I got that he was a stray and then joined the cult. I guess what confused me was that the first line makes it seem like he wasn’t in the cult, as up until that point, unless I missed something stray has only been used to refer to people not in the cult, so I didn’t think it applied to converts.

He is in the cult, but he will still forever be a Stray in the eyes of the others. PR makes converts out to be normal members, reality is different like so often.

The next public update for BoaR will be out in like two weeks, and it will add like 63k (probably more by than) words, mainly focusing on MCs relationships as well as adding a bunch of new variables and little side routes for replayability!

This adds 60k words, and brings the overall IF to over 220k.
In this update, you can:

join the ranks of an exclusive group tasked with protecting the secrets of the cult, learn about the hidden secrets and who truly rules

meet the Phoenix, your religious leader and promised spouse, dance a bit!

learn more about the First Consort, and… why do you two look so alike?

choose sides in a vampire feud: will you remain loyal to the Phoenix or follow the Rapaces?

sleep with an undead girl (or just talk)

sleep with a male Dove (or just talk, if on a certain route try to force it, see what happens!)

meet two new ROs: a puppy-like Beizen teammate with rose-coloured glasses, or a fellow soldier and proud son of a fallen Saint

get arrested for murder and sent to a high security prison

mourn some old friends

teach a Stray how to fight (aka box with a werewolf, what can go wrong?)

I mean a Ceres was murdered and the Divine Flock can excuse much but not cold blooded murder of their high ranks! You need to be with Habichtklau, kill him and later choose the missing wing badge to get on this route!
